Feral Tiefling Rogue Zanzi Mereti Feral Tiefling Variant Rogue Background: Criminal Trait 1: - I always have a plan for what to do when things go wrong. Trait 2: - I don’t pay attention to the risks in a situation. Never tell me the odds. Ideal: - People. I’m loyal to my friends, not to any ideals, and everyone else can take a trip down the Styx for all I care. Bond 1: - I’m guilty of a terrible crime. I hope I can redeem myself for it. Bond 2: - #3 from the ad. Flaw: - If there’s a plan, I’ll forget it. If I don’t forget it, I’ll ignore it. Appearance: The old adage about judging a book by it's cover goes a long way for Zanzi, he looks like a devil, tainted by Asmodeus his infernal bloodline has altered the color of his skin and produced horns on his head. His eyes are black orbs that might be taken to be regarding the world with a cruel calculation of someone trying to take all that they can. Even his smile, warm as it might be, shows a set of pointed teeth ideal for ripping flesh from bone. He keeps his hair long and swept back in a simple leather tie, exposing yet more of his non-human features in his pointed almost elven shaped ears. In all other regards he does pass for a man, a nice well kept beard and a coat in good condition matched by a set of well worn blackened leather boots. On his back he has slung a large pack, a rapier swings from a simple scabbard on his left hip and on his right a quiver, the arrows held in place with a slipknot, and along with the pack a scorched looking shortbow. Most likely the bow had been rubbed with soot rather than seeing the flame itself, but the matte black finish let those of similar profession know that he hunts in the night. Personality: You might see Zanzi and immediately come to the conclusion that he is warped and twisted by his demonic heritage, but it is far from true. He is a kind and helpful sort, with a slow temper and an infectious enthusiasm. Getting past the initial appearances of Zanzi and endearing yourself to him will earn you his good graces and a stalwart friend. Double cross him or judge him by anything less than his actions and you will find utter ambivalence, with a hard battle to gain back his trust. He is a thief, but he is not without principles. He believes that there is a reason he is so skilled and that one day his skills will pay off in a way that benefits more than himself. You might call him an idealist, but he holds no one deity above another he believes there is a rhyme and reason to all things that take place in Faerûn, and that he is just one piece in a larger puzzle. When he has a few too many ales, which happens from time to time he does wax philosophically about the purpose of life and the curse in his blood. If the ale flows for longer than his philosophical phase Zanzi might delve into his actual troubles. His past is riddled with mistakes and darkness will overcome him until he pushes people away to brood until sobriety returns. Thankfully, he is not typically a heavy drinker. Character History: Twenty seven years ago Zanzi was born. His mother and father both of infernal heritage he was bound by their same curse, but they tried to maintain a home of honor and to show all those that might look in on them that not all of those blighted by their heritage were to be feared or the worshipers of the great evils. They ran a small shop in Waterdeep, Adroz's Sundries, which sold magic and mundane items as well as household goods made by local craftsmen and woman. Adroz, his father was well respected, but his clientel was limited and keeping the shop open was often a taxing ordeal. If news came that a tiefling had committed some crime the shop was avoided by the people of Waterdeep until the offence was forgotten. They did not live the comfortable life that they did without some sacrifices, and in the case of Adroz and Zahira those sacrifices were two fold. They led a double life, late at night they would pray at their shrine of Shar and then leave their son, Zanzi at home, tucked in his warm bed with idyllic dreams and hopes, while they would steal from the rich or easiest of targets. Their crimes were not for some greater good, they were for the joy of it, paying the stores financial burdens with their ill gotten gains was just part of their day to day life. Zanzi grew to adulthood still clinging to these hopes that his parents constantly spouted, his mother would says, "Don't let them judge you Zan, you will grow and show them that not all of us are cruel and wicked." At the age of 23 Zanzi was more than an adult and working his father's store, now under the name of Adroz and Son. That was when things changed for him in the most profound of ways, his parents revealed to him the nature of the business, that it served as their front and that the real operations were carried out in the cover of dark and with the blessing of Shar. Everything he had ever know was a lie, his beliefs were thrown in to question and at that same moment they asked him for help. Reluctant and confused Zanzi agreed to help them. Zanzi had a knack for opening locks, he would often open them in the shop, and now it dawned on him that he was actually opening the stashes of the people of Waterdeep, giving their prized possessions to his parents to sell, not some found box in the odd bit of second hand furniture as his parents had claimed. The job that they needed him for was indeed a lock, and that night they gave their son a bow dyed black in ash, as well as a set of blackened daggers to go along with the rapier he had always carried for protection. They had even went out of their way and purchased their son a new set of lock picking tools, silk wraps covering all the parts that might make noise striking the lock. The job went off without a hitch, Zanzi was a prodigy in burgling. He moved silently through the night, infiltrated the luxurious home and made his way to the vault with his parents in tow. He cracked the lock in a matter of moments much to the joy of his parents. They collected their loot and went to leave, what they did not expect was that their had been wards in place. The owners were waiting for them. The young and spry Zanzi evaded the soldiers and owners easily enough, but the older pair were caught. Zanzi fled and never looked back, vowing to use his gifts for good, leaving behind his parents and all he knew. He decided that he would move in the shadows only to survive, offer his services only to those who truly needed them. He would seek a purpose inline with the lies he was told as a child and make them a reality. He has been on the run since then, roaming and helping any that he can to earn enough to keep him alive and moving through the lands. He now finds himself headed to Greenest, dreams of doom almost every night have been pushing him for weeks now toward the small town. He has no idea what they mean but he hopes that they will end once he arrives. Link to Sheet

@Drachenspirit - Okay, the sheet is up, but not quite done yet, the secret is done. FYI, Nilee is a Half-Drow, technically a Half-Elf. The SCAG has some alternate traits for Half-Drow, but I've decided Nilee isn't blessed with SLA.

Also the Bond: Can I choose nr 5 and change it to her father instead?

That's fine, though the slaying can't have been recently. Would have had to have been before your character was born, or while they were quite young.

Also, by my Point-Buy calculator, you still have 1 point to spend on ability scores.

I was once in a table top (3.5) game where everyone had levels in rogue. We all rolled up our characters without talking about it, though the DM was aware before we finished. He thought it was fun.

Anyway, point is, there’s always room for another rogue.

A team can have more than one character with the same class the DM said before, everything is possible. On my end, Brody is more than a rogue, he's a drinking buddy haha

HAHA, I completely agree! Personally, I think that everyone should start as a level 1 rogue with expertise in either two thief skills (e.g. thieves' tools and stealth) or two face skills (e.g. deception and persuasion). Then anyone who wishes can branch out from there!

Borrow from the barbarian. Even if they remember, you can always cantrip their attention elsewhere.
