Plot Summary Intro Space is vast, dark and cold... Gamma rays and neutrino bursts erupt from dying stars to cook you alive. Gravity wells pull so hard that one miscalculation could mean an inescapable fiery death. And a void that can simultaneously boil your blood and freeze your brain. Try to scream and no one can hear you. Hold your breath and you rupture your lungs. But space in the 22nd century isn't all empty. Its frontiers are ever expanding. Rival governments wage a cold war of aggression while ultra rich, greed driven corporations vie for valuable and rare resources. Colonists reach for the stars, gambling with their lives - each new world tamed is either feast or famine. Colonial marines safeguard the fragile yet lucrative colonies. While space truckers ferry valuable cargo over vast distances of space. And then… there are rumors of things lurking in the shadows of dark corridors and strange worlds. Horrifying things… Things Alien. "I can’t lie to you about your chances, but … you have my sympathies.” -Ash Life on the Frontier The Frontier is a free-for-all land of opportunity likened to the old "Wild West". Here life is harsh and cheap. It is constantly expanding the boundaries of known space. Beyond that lies darkness. The thrill of the unknown attracts many an entrepid pioneer. Though the majority of folk on the frontier are rugged and hard-working professionals, barely scraping a living together. Only a select few can call themselves explorers. Why would anyone choose to make a living in this God forsaken void? Most of the work doesn't pay well. The living conditions are atrocious. Safety is never guaranteed. And the companionship? Let's just say folk on the frontier are a rough and odd bunch. Perhaps you're running away from something. Maybe you have attachment issues. Or maybe you're just that darn insane. Life as a space trucker is particularly rough. You spend an inordinate amount of time in hypersleep, which takes a massive toll on your body and psyche. When not shipside, the majority of your time is spent in cramped quarters on space stations or barely habitable colonies waiting for your next assignment. You never really stay in one place for very long and as a consequence rarely have opportunities to lay down roots or foster any meaningful relationships. And where you end up is at the whim of the company, who, more often than not, assign you to work with unpredictable individuals whom you have to trust with your life. Individuals who may, at the very least, be considered "eccentric" if not a little insane. The Story Begins The year is 2183. You are a civilian space trucker contracted by Weyland-Yutani to run cargo hauls between Anchorpoint Station and the frontier. Over the last 6 months, you’ve been assigned to a skeleton crew on the USCSS Montero, a commercial starfreighter along with 5 others. You and your new crew have been assigned to deliver a special order of Tritium gas for a Weyland-Yutani corporate account on Sutter’s world, a newly established Frontier colony. Application The application should include the following elements: A little bit about yourself and what draws you to the world of Alien Which role you’re applying to Name, gender, age, birth place, backstory and a character portrait NOTE: You do not need to know anything about character creation or the rules of this game to play. I will be able to help with rules as we go. After players are selected, we can go over the mechanical aspect of character creation together. Roles needed 1. Should be built with the Officer careerCaptain 2. Utilizes the Pilot careerPilot 3. This character is strength focused and should excel in heavy machinery. Utilizes the Roughneck career.Cargo handler 4. This character will also utilize the Roughneck career, but is intended to excel in comtech and electronicsTechnician 5. Medic 6. This character should be built using the Company Agent career.Weyland-Yutani representative

IMPORTANT This is intended to be a one-shoter adapted from one of Free League's published cinematic scenarios, Chariot of the Gods. This is a fairly gritty and lethal system. Survival is not guranteed, so you have to be ok with potential character death. If you've played Chariot of the Gods before, you can still apply, but don't spoil it for others. The way Free League designed these cinematic scenarios is that each character will have an agenda that is unique to their character as well as a potential buddy and/or rival. This works in such a way as to create tension and interesting story-telling opportunities as well as potential interpersonal conflict, as some agendas may conflict with others. I need mature players who are ok with some inter-party conflict. This should NOT be an opportunity to be a jerk or make it unpleasant for another player, but it should be fun and lend to some cool roleplay! After all 6 players are chosen, I will work with you personally to formulate individual agendas as well as a potential buddy/rival.

Other specifics As no die rolls will be necessary at this point, please don’t roll dice in this thread. I am looking for 6 Human characters only. No Androids, hybrids or genetically modified people. Alien: resurrection has not happened in this setting.immersive characters that fit with the Alien world setting and the space trucker theme. Post rate: 1x/week minimum Application deadline: TBD

A little bit about yourself and what draws you to the world of Alien

Aliens was 'the Scary movie' when I was a child and I watched it way too young back when bootleg BetaMax was a thing. Since then its been a factor in most SciFi I gravitate towards (Space Hulk board game anyone?) Dredd vs Aliens, Predator vs Aliens. Xenos are everywhere. I also like the fact that humans are so weak against this enemy and overwhelming numbers and firepower dont always work.

Which role you’re applying to Cargo Handler (Roughneck?) (I have actually worked nightshift in a warehouse, experience that will be extremely relevant - no Xenos though)

Backstory and a character portrait
Life on Torin is like living in prison, heavily policed, heavily monitored - crushing basically. Growing up in one of the corp-orphanages his life has been 'handled' to fit the corp needs and being so close to the Frontier that means exploration, expansion and for Logan a fast-tracked education into loading and unloading ships. The indoctrination was good to start with and Logan was a good corp-boy working up the standard training paths and even being trusted to run a shift or two.

As the years progressed the corp sheen became worn off as the disparity between those that worked and that those that watched the workers became more obvious. Logan got better at turning a blind eye and moving loads to the wrong place, a nice source of extra income and other benefits especially as he had no future options beyond handling cargo. Things came to a head when an acquaintance was 'accidentally' crushed by a container, turns out he was am informant for the security services. The increased talk about the J'Har and taking back the planet was not talk after all and finding himself in a difficult place where it was getting harder to turn down the side hustle he took the first off-world contract he found. Having his P-5000 Class 2 license (6wks civ training not the 8wks USMC get) was pretty useful for this, lots of demand for skilled loaders, and its with some enthusiasm he finds himself on the Montero

You aren't in this for the money, although it doesn't hurt. You're a thrill-seeker and an adrenaline junkie. Danger is the rush you live for, but stay frosty. Otherwise, the next time you find yourself dodging through an asteroid belt or seeing the ground rush up to meet you might be your last.

Mitch finds comfort in the the cold embrace of space. The lighted-studded void more or a companion than fellow shipmates. He delights in flying ships, any ships. His past known only to himself. He chats well enough in small groups, after a time, but he isn't an instigator, more of a responder. Mitch drifts from contract to contract, crew to crew, ship to ship. Initially he spends the first few weeks almost alone, getting to know the new ship, becoming intimately acquainted with its nuances.

Mitch grew up on the sparsely populated colony world, LV-636 Vaesen. His father worked himself to death mining resources for the corps. His mother fared little better. In his early teens he found scrunge work in and around the spaceport; and there he availed himself of every opportunity to talk with the truckers and pilots, learning how to operate ships. In his late teens, after his father died, he hopped on with a maverick, a pilot, one James Bishop. Bishop took odd jobs and never asked questions. He had his own, small ship and no crew, until Mitch tagged along. Bishop exploited Mitch's natural talent and youthful inexperience. Mitch grew up fast, and once it was evident he'd gleaned all he could from the rogue, he jumped ship and started his wandering career.

Been interested in scifi (and fantasy) since childhood; thought the first 2 movies were great; I like the cross-genre / genre-melding of the first 2 movies; have most of the comics through the years – timeline in comics with Hicks and Newt much better than what happened in movie 3; like the idea of the expanded universe and the possible tie to BladeRunner as well.

Yes! I really like that potential tie in as well. I'd have to do a few tweaks to make it match the timeline as presented in the Alien RPG, but I think the two definitely match in flavor and general asthetic.

Onryou Sumashiya   Name: Onryou Sumashiya Gender: Female Age: 22 Role: Preferred WY Rep (Corporate Agent), can do Medic (Scientist) Description: Onryou's hair is a raven black and lustrous. Her hair was shoulder length but often she wore it in a bun to keep it oit of the way, letting it down only on special occasions. Her facial features were oval: weak yet defined jaw, near pointed chin, high check bones, average lips, and refined nose. Her skin was pale and unblemished and her eyes a deep brown. Onryou has a small lithe frame that was deceptively honed. Personality: Onryou is a perfectionist, through and through. She labors hard to be beyond adequate in everything she dabbles in... and she dabbles in a lot. Making her rather haughty yet hyper competent individual. Having been raised for a drive for more and self sufficiency, she scoffs at people that make constant excuses for the problems that they have or for what they lack. She is a firm believer that anyone can always achieve more than what they have and fix their own problems, if they have the will... and anyone with a will is out for themselves. Since Onryou believes that she is wary on accepting outside aid when offered, always trying to see what do others gain from helping her. And if it is not clear, she often will turn it down, unwilling to 'owe' someone without terms. Background: Onryou was born on the edge of ICSC space to a successful entrepreneur. Her fathers initial success came from being a middle man in logistics. When her elder brother developed a rare disorder however, her father started branching into the medical field. After early research was successful, his company was purchased by Weyland-Yuntani. Despite being born to relative wealth and privilege, Onryou was raised by a strict and austere hand. Originally she and her brother were being groomed to take ove the family business, she the medical portion and her brother the rest. But after being acquired by Weyland-Yutani, she must strive harder than ever to not just become a cog in the machine.
