Personal Data Character: PDQ Description: A short, slight figure, dressed in a high-tech jumpsuit with a helmet. Only rarely does he appear otherwise, as a young, androgynous-looking elf, with pale skin and white hair. He moves strangely, long moments of stillness interspersed with bursts of rapid movement too quick for the unaided eye to follow.

Then a nightmare... or a memory... faceless figures in dark metal, who came in the dark and destroyed everything, taking away those they didn’t kill. Then his life was lived in a series of sterile white rooms. He was shown how to enter a strange world, dreamlike, mutable, made of information. There were surgeries, recovery rooms, and lots of tests. Then more surgeries, more recovery, more tests… the cycle seemed to repeat endlessly, forever. He knew the scientists were learning, by installing and removing things from him, and he was not a person to them, just a test subject. He spent time in the strange dream world, slowly learning of its nature, but when he shifted perceptions to it, he always found himself trapped, in a high-walled garden. They forced him there, made him expand his bond with that world, despite the walls around him. Most of the time, he watched a feed – not knowing that there was anything special about him being able to see it without technological assistance – and it was his school, his family, his friends – the closest he could get to personal relationships. Freedom came unexpectedly, like an act of god. They came in almost like the men in the childhood nightmare, but they were quieter, and less uniform. Alex saw a couple of soldiers in armor, an elf whose attire reminded him of his village, a troll woman in green coveralls with pockets full of tech, and a man in a dark suit with mirrored sunglasses. He noted the differences, without understanding what shadowrunners were. Alex was frightened by the strange people, who seemed like they’d come from a trid show, and they were equally shocked to find a living person imprisoned as a test subject. He flitted around the room faster than most eyes could follow, under the effects of heavy augmentation, but he was unarmed, harmless. They managed to calm him, and they got the prototype they’d come to steal, but they also freed the young captive. He helped the man in the suit (who needed equipment to do what came naturally to Alex) to get paydata, but it was he alone who left the destruction in their wake. A dark rage that had been building for many years finally had a chance to get revenge, and the facility was a bonfire on the horizon when the team left. Alex’s stunt didn’t go over well with the team, and they wanted nothing more to do with him. But the troll Feather had an affection for wounded creatures and lost causes, and he took the young technomancer in. He taught him how to survive in the real world, and helped him figure out how to put his talents to use in the shadows – fighting, piloting, and decking. He helped Alex get set up as a rigger, sourcing his first combat vehicle, and a number of drones. He also helped Alex go back to the Philippines, to the location in the stolen records where it was said he’d been found, but there was nothing but jungle, which had consumed every trace of the little village. He mourned, when he returned to Seattle, but he still had a home, and at least one person to look after him. But his peaceful life with Feather as his family has started to look risky. The corporation is looking for him, and the heat is building. I've been fully immersed in cyberpunk since October. Definitely have a taste for the future.

Totally stoked to buy source books and learn, if you're open to it.

Almost played a tt shadowrun game back in 07, but it never got past creation. Would really love to give it a shot!

Always happy to give new players a go! Pbp is quite forgiving as there's plenty of time to go away and look up rules or explain things...

Do you have a character 'type' in mind? If you're completely new to SR I'm happy to help with character generation but it would be good if you 'owned' the concept! Broadly speaking we have the 3 bases of mundane/magic/matrix covered so it's completely flexible... although I might suggest you avoid the matrix for now?!

I'm interested as well. But I am new somewhat to RPG Crossing, formatting, loading pictures and the game itself. I've played 2e back in the day, dabbled with 4e and physically own the 6e book, but would like to learn and play if possible. I know these are big IFs and that you already have many players. But if none of this bothers you, I'd love to join.

I should note that I'd love to play a Technomancer, but could fall back on Street Sam too. I just fell in love with the idea of Technomancer, a guy who can access the Matrix with his mind only. Thanks.

The more the merrier, pbp has an alarming drop off rate so I'm happy to frontload the PCs

I suggest downloading a copy of my excel character generator too, it might look a little overwhelming at first as it has all the crunch books in it but it gives physads some fun options that the core book doesn’t! I’ve put rules summaries in it but I can copy and paste small sections of rules if you need me to

If you have access to the book, the Shadow Cast supplemental book is also great because it has examples and suggestions to help build a specific flavor of character you want. Example: X is what you need base to make a mage, if you want them to specialize in Y then take these additional skills/qualities.

Where is this generator?

I'm taking suggestions for a list of books to buy on PDF, though I would love to have some Shadowrun hardcopies!

EDIT: I have some time to work on this today if someone has discord and wishes to VC with a n3w about char gen.
