House Curver Even the Mighty Fall Sigil: A Silver Oak on a Field of Green and Blue Words: “Even the Mighty Fall” Seat: A small town next to a motte-and-bailey castle built at the confluence of the Wendwater and its tributary in the KingswoodSilveroaks (non-canonical) Region: Northern Kingswood (limited rights) Titles: Sheriff of the Kingswood, Lord of Silveroaks Lord: Waryn Curver Heir: Ardric Curver Overlords: King / House Baratheon History of House Curver: Contrary to most other noble Houses of the Seven Kingdoms House Curver cannot boast about ancient roots stretching all the way back to the First Men or the invasion of the Andals, nor does it include legendary kings, queens and heroes among its founders. The only thing it does share with the Houses that consider themselves its betters is that it too was born in blood. It was its current lord and founder, a mercenary and on occasion bandit called Waryn, who warned Robert Baratheon about his faithless bannermen gathering their armies at Summerhall in order to march on Storm’s End. Forewarned is forearmed, however, and the young lord of the Stormlands quickly rode with his knights and squires to confront his enemies, including the informer whose actions might well have changed the very outcome of what the maesters would later refer to as Robert’s Rebellion. The battle, or more accurately battles, at Summerhall were won and the lowborn man was knighted by the king-to-be for his contribution. The lord of the Stormlands was said to have been so impressed by Waryn’s battle prowess that he called him a “carver of flesh” in contrast to his father who had been a “carver of wood”. Waryn fought at Robert’s side for the rest of the war and he was among those who cheered the loudest when the crown was placed upon his head. His loyalty and support were rewarded with the founding of House Curver. The newly created lord showed his gratitude to his liege by adopting the phrase ”Even the Mighty Fall” as the words of his House. Most believe that it is a clear reference to the fall of House Targaryen, but the phrase is in fact inspired by Robert Baratheon himself, who was rumored to have commented "look now at the mighty Fell" after killing Lord Fell of Felwood in single combat. Characteristics of House Curver: Lord Waryn likes to think himself as the “Lord of the Kingswood”, but the truth is very different. Though the king has granted House Curver jurisdiction over the whole northern part of this vast forest, Lord Waryn’s rights are in fact very limited. He may not create, support or appropriate any settlements in the Kingswood other than his seat, Silveroaks, he may not hunt within the forest, a privilege reserved solely for the king and those he chooses to escort him, he may not cut down any trees with the exception of any silky or “silver” oaks, and most importantly, he may not impose a toll on those traveling along the Roseroad or the road connecting King’s Landing with Storm’s End. On the other hand, being the Sheriff of the Kingswood, he is tasked with patrolling the forest and keeping it free of outlaws and poachers, something that would be impossible even if he had ten times the men he currently has at his disposal. Moreover he is expected to provide experienced guides each time a member of the royal family or one of their noble guests decides to spend a few days hunting in the woods. Lord Waryn Curver himself was part of the king’s escort during King Robert Baratheon’s fateful hunt, witnessing the wild boar fatally wounding his friend and liege. The chaos that ensued after the king’s passing has severely weakened the position of House Curver, since much of the Kingswood was reduced to ash, charcoal and dead trees by the forces of Stannis Baratheon shortly before the Battle of the Blackwater and Tyrion Lannister’s Stone Crows are currently wandering the woods, considering the land “theirs”. The Lord of Silveroaks has repeatedly petitioned the Iron Throne for enough gold and swords to allow him to effectively do his duty, but up to this point he has been ignored, which has angered him to no end. Though still loyal to his friend’s legacy, he has slowly come to realize that if House Curver is to outlive its founder, he may either have to stop asking nicely for assistance or start looking for those who would be interested in backing him in exchange for his support in the war of succession. Most great men of the kingdom may laugh at the lowborn upstart who thinks himself a nobleman, but they fail to realize that there is no one in the Seven Kingdoms who knows the “back door” to King’s Landing better than him. Dangling the key to the capital in front of the various claimants’ noses is sure to reward him with a good catch, or at least that is what Lord Waryn believes.

This is still a work in progress. The extended family and the retainers of the House are still missing, but I expect the application to be complete in just a few days.

A small, minor house nestled in the north of the Vale against the Neck. Descendants of the First Men. Their small number of ships mostly trade with communities on the nearby islands and those on the coast of The North. Agriculture is the main perview of House Rammen, though they do have domesticated foxes as well as numerous raven hatcheries. They follow the Old Gods and give lip service to the Seven There is a weirwood and heart tree in Stormcove.

House Edelgard is a lesser-known noble family that has called the mouth of the Mander River their home for generations in the world of Game of Thrones. Their modest seat, known as Tidehold Manor, is a charming coastal estate situated at the convergence of the Mander River and the tranquil Sunset Sea.

Founded by Captain Eamon Edelgard, a skilled sailor and explorer, House Edelgard's origins are rooted in maritime adventures and seafaring prowess. Captain Eamon was said to have stumbled upon the secluded cove that would become the family's stronghold during one of his voyages. Recognizing the strategic importance of the location, he decided to settle there and establish the foundations of his house.

Tidehold Manor, though not as imposing as the great castles of the realm, boasts a unique blend of maritime and rural aesthetics. The manor is characterized by its white stone walls, adorned with blue and gold accents, reflecting the colors of the sea and the Edelgard sigil. The sigil itself features a stylized anchor entwined with a cresting wave, symbolizing their connection to both the sea and the river.

House Edelgard's fleet, while not as extensive as those of major naval houses, is locally renowned for its speed and agility. Their ships, often called "Mander Clippers," are designed for swift maneuvering along the river's winding course and the open waters of the Sunset Sea. The clippers bear the family's colors proudly, with blue and gold sails billowing in the wind.

Despite their minor status, House Edelgard has a strong sense of community and pride. They are known for hosting lively coastal celebrations, where villagers and sailors come together to partake in seafood feasts, dance to lively sea shanties, and compete in maritime-themed games. These events foster a sense of unity among the people living along the Mander's shores.

As the story unfolds, the current head of House Edelgard, Lady Elara Edelgard, finds herself navigating the challenges of maintaining the family's maritime traditions while also adapting to the shifting dynamics of the realm. With their modest fleet and close-knit community, House Edelgard's strength lies in their resilience, resourcefulness, and unyielding connection to the waters that have shaped their history.

House Black-Morel House: Black-Morel Sigil: A leaf settled on grasslands of light and dark shades of green. Words: The earth provides Seat: Tarbeck Hall Region: Westerlands Liege: Lannister History Seamas Black grew up living in the shadow of the great Casterly Rock. Earning a living amongst the commoners gathering fruits and vegetables from the nearby forests, Seamas developed a passion for the delicacy of the simple fungi that grew there and became a recognised name in the cooking of various mushroom-based dishes for the locals. But it was his other side-business that brought him to the attention of Laisa Morel; for among his tasty edible plates Seamas learnt how to harness the dangerous side-effects of various fungi to create effective - and untraceable - poisons. Laisa, a distant cousin of Tywin Lannister, had heard word of the talented poison master and on occasion had a specific spousal problem that needed to be addressed quietly but efficiently. Seamas was happy to assist and with her spousal issue dealt with - and finding herself now a wealthy widow - Laisa petitioned Tywin to agree to an arrangement that would provide House Lannister with access to the poison master's skills, without any potentially embarrassing public association between the two. After short negotiations, Tywin agreed and announced the marriage of Seamas Black and Laisa Morel. As a wedding gift, Tywin offered the newlyweds the abandoned castle of Tarbeck Hall to make their own, with the added benefit of keeping the poison maker within arms' reach at all times and under close observation. Thus the joint House of Black-Morel was formed and joined the ranks of followers of House Lannister and Casterly Rock. Over time, with Laisa's inheritance from her deceased husband and Seamas' specialist skills, House Black-Morel paid for the repairs and renovations to Tarbeck Hall, and began to grow their House. Members of Renown Seamas Black-Morel, Lord of the House: Master of Culinary Arts - and secretly Master of Poisons - Seamas holds the position of Lord of House Black-Morel by the appointment of Tywin Lannister and marriage to his distant cousin Laisa Morel. Seamas oversees the running of House Black-Morel but passes most responsibilities for day-to-day activities to various advisors so that he can continue his work in the basement laboratory, developing the various poisons for which he has secretly become known, and training the next generation of alchemists to continue his work when he no longer able to himself. Laisa Black-Morel, Lady of the House: The beautiful, wealthy and intelligent Lady of the House. Laisa is the real power behind the rise of House Black-Morel. It's through her involvement that Seamas was promoted from commoner to Lord in a short space of time, and has the full - though unofficial - backing of House Lannister, as long as he remains loyal and inconspicious about his work. On the surface, Laisa enjoys the relaxed lifestyle of being the Lady of House, entertaining guests and indulging in the pastimes of the priviledged. But behind the scenes her spies keep her constantly informed of activities within the House and those from outside. Her guiding hand is always there on her husbands' shoulder. Horden Vaele, Master of Arms: Seamas is a Master in the Kitchen and also in the Laboratory, but he is no good with a sword in hand. For his own protection, Laisa employed a close friend of hers, Horden Vaele, to act as his guard and, over time, become his Master of Arms. Leading the growing House Guard and military forces of House Black-Morel, Horden has become a valuable ally and friend of Seamas and Laisa. Broden Black-Morel, Captain of the House Guard: The eldest child of Seamas and Laisa, Broden chose the path of the warrior; training throughout his youth with the experienced Horden Vaele until he was old enough and experienced enough himself to take the role of Captain of the House Guard. Josey Black-Morel, Lady of the House: The youngest sibling of Seamas and Laisa, Josey has just reached the age where suitors are a thing and the looming prospect of marriage is just around the corner. Rebellious to both, Josey just wants to enjoy life without any of the hardships of the real world. While Laisa would love to see her daughter married into a prominent House to secure the future of House Black-Morel, Seamas would just be happy if his daughter had greater ambitions than just wasting away her life on frivolous things. Rolan Manderly, Maester: Imposed upon the House by Tywin Lannister as part of the agreement to the creation of House Black-Morel and the marriage to his distant cousin, and acting directly under his control as both influencer and informant, Maester Rolan Manderly is a young and unimposing person, who is not without his own spies and connections to powerful individuals. His role is to advise Seamas on matters to which the common man would not otherwise have any experience, and to ensure that House Lannister's interests are seen to first and foremost. With as gentle a hand as possible, of course.

Currently in week three of the War for the North (called the War of the Bastards in the TV version).

This is not a game for everyone. - this very much a world/House building, players drive the narratives.

My curiosity is definitely piqued! Although I must say, my knowledge of the lore is not really up to date (I haven't watched the show and it's been quite a while since I've read the books) but political intrigues with an emphasis on player agency sounds very, very appealing.

Since I'm not familiar with the game system, I do have a couple of questions related to an initial idea I have for a house.
If I were to create a small one which takes more of a supportive role, something perhaps akin to a mercernary group, and would offer services and assistance to other houses (under the approbation of their liege), rather than take an active role on the battlefield, is this something that might fit the game setting?

If it is, how are interactions between the houses handled? Like creating alliances or making threats, when done behind closed doors, is it done through some private threads, or something else?

In case it doesn't really fit with the game and I need to be an active participant in battles, then no worries I have other ideas.
