To go away, study the rules, put up a forum, put up threads and posts to help teach people the rules where if I get even one drop out in the game would effectively kill the game because there’s not even enough interest here for me to go out and source a replacement seems to be an enormous investment of time and energy on my part for pretty much nothing in all honesty. So to that end, unless interest suddenly and dramatically picks up in the next few days in order to make this at least viable, and believe me I want nothing more than to be able to offer you all a game like this, I’m going to say this one’s pretty much dead in the water . That’s great, thank you for the interest . Just to be clear, I will absolutely 100% run this game, and I’d absolutely love to run it, as long as there is enough interest to justify it.

For anyone on the fence about applying due to lack of knowledge of the system or how to create a character, or even if there is tentative interest but you’re still slightly uncertain, I have been adding a lot of guides and resources to aid you in terms of how to go about creating a character, what sorts of things to think about, how dice rolls work in the game etc. in the game forum found here. I will continue adding further help and resources in the coming days and weeks.
I do really really hope I can tempt some of you out there into applying, I will absolutely give this game everything I have and I certainly promise to give you an intense, wild ride at the very least. I will do all I can to help anyone out who is not sure of what they are doing. Last edited by Arkanis; Oct 1st, 2023 at 03:15 PM. |

Hi Arkanis. Feeling driven towards this game. Don't think I got what it takes though, so I thought I'd just tag along, reading the group's adventures - and maybe I'll have enough for a passable role, at some point... When a place would be available, I mean.
Anyway, I was wondering about that puzzle:

I like you're thinking, what I would say is the assumption you've made here is that the actual act itself would be perpetrated on the dance floor. So ask yourself this, is the perpetrator likely to do such an act and potentially draw attention to themselves and their origins, or are they more likely to separate from the main press and go to a more isolated place?
Similarly, how would you approach the situation of getting the bartender's on board with the plan? Do you want to tell them the full truth or do you want to invent an excuse as to why they would want to give away free drinks? And in regards to the karaoke, would you think that most people on the dance floor are in a state as to be able to take in the words and the hidden meaning behind it? Creative thinking certainly, I like it, keep going . |

Glad you enjoy the conversation! And - to return the compliment - being open to discuss things is a cool trait, especially for a GM.
Guess you're right... Unless the perpetrator loses control (addiction to murder?!), or can make use of some supernatural means of leaving the scene, murder is less likely to happen in the midst of all those people... Then Glee' and Mitsu's combined approach is just the way to go - but the PCs might still need some help, depending on how many exits are and in order to speed up the person to person search. Then there are isolated places within the building, like the confessionals of the fake priests (if you're having that in the story), toilets, off-public rooms of the staff... The team would probably need to contact the management, or at least find a floor plan. About the karaoke thing: I thought it would be enough if the target recognized themselves in the description. What could follow would be them trying to get out of the place or just find a private room to change their clothes and disguise - if they came prepared. About the bartender (understanding there's only one to deal with, and that's done directly - thus without help from management): There are two main means of convincing - money and charm; probably both at the same time. Of course, the "free drinks" would be payed for by the PCs. One approach is for Saori or Gloria to go to the bartender and say they have a blind date set up, and they were supposed to meet the other (the target) inside. Then they would ask for help and maybe leave a small tip with the smile. In this case, the "game" and the "free drinks" would not be necessary; the PC would rely on the bartender's means to achieve the desired result. And the girl would have to come into view separate from the group. The other approach is for anyone with social appeal (like Johnny, Saori) to first ask if the bartender saw the person (+ passing something between 10 and 20 pounds), then ask for the bartender's help to find them (+ passing up to 50 pounds) - and if the money are accepted, then propose the "game", while also promising that there are more money to be gained at the end. Obviously, it's the more expensive version. And probably acting solo is still preferable - as the sight of a group could easier give rise to questions about their reasons. The full truth (minus the intention to kill the target) would probably only be necessary when dealing with the manager - while a short version of it might be needed to determine someone of the staff (bartender, bouncer) to pass the word. I don't think there should be any resistance, unless they don't mind murder in there or they are involved. Problem is the management would most likely contact the cops - and that might not go well with the real nature of the job...

I think that most of the difficulty of getting in the game is the character creation (I always look fast guides on reddit). The books leave the information super spread instead of saying in a single page how many dots you get in everything on each type of character. That said, posting my interest and a couple questions:
1 - Can a character be part of any of the organizations (specifically La Calcédoine)? 2 - Would it be possible for La Calcédoine to identify a Hunter in another branch of the French Army? 3 - If a character was a member of the Foreign Legion at some point (the organization take people from any nationality and part of the training constitutes teaching French to the recruits) is it necessary to spend a dot to purchase the French language? 4 - If a character is from a country that doesn't speak English is it necessary to spend a dot to purchase English as a language? 5 - What if the character is from a country that speak more than one common language? Should a dot be spent buying each of its languages?
