![]() Name: Mortanius Race: human Class: Wizard: Necromancer Background : Sage Personality: Mortanius is a very calm and thoughtful individual, rarely giving into emotion. His never-ending quest for knowledge keps him going as well as his love for his undead children. He takes a more active role in the mortal world than most gods, often speaking directly to his disciples and giving them guidance and wisdom. He likes to think of himself as a teacher, passing on his wisdom to others and watching them grow like flowers. Appearance: Mortanius appears to be a dead human with grey skin and black hair. He wears bone armor that often rattles as he moves, and red cloaks. Domain: Death Influence: Mortanius is the god who taught the first necromancers how to create undead. Your symbols: A skull with two skeletal hands with fingers spread like wings behind it Uncommon magic item:Broom of Flying Rare magic item:Instant Fortress Kingdom: The kingdom of Morthal, also known as the kingdom of death is a nation of the undead. Its capital is Necropolis and is ruled by a council representing the groups living within the kingdom. It was founded by the first lich Derek Draven. The nation had a tumultuous start with numerous neighboring nations seeking its destruction, but between Derek’s massive magical power and his legions of the undead, the attacking armies fell and were raised, thus weakening Morthal’s hostile neighbors while strengthening its own forces. Currently Morthal has an unsteady truce with most of the other countries who, while not friendly, have accepted that they cannot destroy the undead nation, at least not yet. The more progressive kingdoms have enjoyed lucrative trade agreements with their neighbor. Morthal rents out its mindless undead for manual labor, and purchases criminals sentenced to death to feed liches, vampires, and ghouls, , and corpses to be raised as more undead. Many wealthy mortals fearing death travel to Morthal to pay for the service of being turned undead. Prices vary depending on the type of undead they wish to become. While many fear that the undead wish to conquer the world and slaughter the licing, nothing could be further from the truth. Morthaql’s leaders understand that undead can’t reproduce. They need mortals to have babies and become undead to increase their population, so killing the living would be slitting their own throats. Morthal and its citizens simply wish to exist in peace and continue living their unlives while trying to gain acceptance in the world. The council Head councilman and lich representative Derek Draven: founder and ruler of Morthal, Derek Draven was the first human that Mortanius taught necromancy to. The god say the man had a talent for it, and he quickly became powerful, sharing his teachings with those who were drawn to his power. After reaching the height of his craft, Mortanius taught him the final secret of necromancy: how to become a lich. Derek shed his mortality. Finding himself and his followers rejected by society, Derek dedicated himself to creating a safe haven for his people, and built its foundation in an uninhabited swamp too hostile to regular people, but it proved quite adequate for the undead who labored tirelessly to build houses, walls, castles, and farms. He formed the council to serve as heads of state to manage the growing population and is known as an even-handed ruler who desires nothing more than safety and prosperity for his people. Vampire representative Cardula: One of Derek’s oldest allies, Cardula is a beauty beyond compare who represents the vampire population of Morhtal who make up the majority of the aristocracy. Over two thousand years old, Cardula is the oldest and most powerful vampire in the world. despite this, she lacks ambition having lived so long that she has lost much of her lsut for life. She compensates for her malaise by living a hedonistic lifestyle and has a fetish for taking the virginity of young men. Like most of the vampire nobles, Cardula governs a population of mortals who serve as attendants, workers, and cattle, but despite needing to feed on the blood of mortals, the vampires frown on those who kill their mortals, seeing it as wasteful. Instead, they take just enough to survive and never from the same servant twice. it is one of the ways to sustain Morhtal’s resources. In fact many of the vampires see their mortal attendants as close friends or even family, rewarding their most loyal servants with vampirism. Mortal and Necromancer representative Carin Seras: a half helf born of a human and an ice elf icylic, Cerins mere existence was considered a crime by his extremely racist elven cousins. His parents raised him in hiding, but eventually the icylic found them and dismembered his mother. His father died trying to defend her, but Cerin escaped. he spent most of his life being hunted before seeking sanctuary in Morthal where he trained in necromancy until he had amassed enough power and undead to wage a genocidal war against his icylic relatives, attacking their home island of glacia. In les than a year he had devastated every settlement and scattered the survivors to the winds. He still suffers the occasional assassination attempt, but he turned the ice elves into an endangered species in his mother’s memory. Ghoul representative Gnarl Grimtooth: ghouls make up the majority of Mortha’s middle class, doing skilled labor that mindless undead cannot. They also serve as officers in Morthal’s armies while zombies and skeletons make up the foot soldiers. Gnarl was the first ghoul created by Derek Draven himself and serves his master faithfully as a general. Mummy representative Merus Mora: head priest of the church of Necronism the official releigion of Morthal. Merus leads Morthal in all religious maters. Unlike most religions that pray to gods for favors, the undead denizens of Morthal believe that their god literally provides them with their unlife and that without him they would all simply die, so they take their worship of him very seriously. The priests of necronism are mummified alive as a sign of their devotion and commitment. The extreme pain is meant to make them more compassionate and instill in them empathy to the pain of others. the holy doctrine of necronism are the twenty lessons of Mortanius. The Twenty Lessons of Mortanius: 1. Life is precious, do not squander it 2. Speak softly while holding a big stick 3. Weakness is a sin, seek to rid yourself of it. 4. War is costly, use it only as a last resort 5. The best way to defeat an enemy is to make them a friend 6. Forgiveness is divine 7. Vengeance is not justice 8. Know yourself before you try to know others 9. Celebrate your enemy’s success 10. Seek to do one good deed every day 11. Knowledge is power 12. Think before you speak and listen before you think 13. Sweetest charm bares the sharpest tooth 14. The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife 15. The riskier the road, the greater the reward 16. Hear all, trust nothing 17. If you can’t handle the answer, don’t ask the question 18. Eternity is a lot longer if you are alone 19. It was a foolish man who built his house upon the sand 20. Clean your room before you fix the problems of the world A landmark or two: Ragnar’s Rest: the worlds largest graveyard which formed around the tomb of Ragnar the Red, a famous king who united the barbarian tribes into the most powerful nation of its day. it’s located in death valley where over a thousand bodies are buried. Dragon Bridge: the remains of a massive dragon spans the world scar ravine and serves as a bridge over the gap. Many legends revolve around the ravine and the dragon that rests across it, but no one knows the truth. RP Sample:

Looks like you both do.
![]() ![]() But I'm not sure if "competition" is the right way to think of it. As the advertisement says, the characters had ALWAYS been gods (they weren't mortals who ascended), so I think their "true" spheres of influence probably transcend any material or physical constraints. In other words, they embody an emotion or some higher ideal that PROVIDES them to influence physical objects, but isn't defined by it. For instance, "death" was probably a foreign concept to the gods until the appearance of mortals, so maybe there's something else that gives them that Domain. Multiple deities might therefore have influence over death or spirits, but come at it from completely different angles. For example, in my app, Fulminus controls the weather almost exclusively. I've determined that it's because his true influence is that of Change and states-of-matter. Yet in Jrod's app, Auberon summons a raincloud to water some withering plants. I don't view this as "competition" or "encroachment" since controlling weather is not actually what defines each god... it's just a side effect of their respective influences. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Maybe it'll help if anyone wants to make alterations, or for those still debating over placing an app. Cheers! |

Name:Keeper "Kee" to the other gods
![]() With mask and garb
Race: Kenku Class: Monk - Way of the Shadow 11/Rogue - Thief 9 Background (of your worshippers): Criminal/Spy Personality: Keeper likes to keep to himself and his work, he feels that if he is not working, the balance of power in the world could easily shift in any direction and cause complete and utter chaos to it. He only obeys the commands of the leader of the gods, the most powerful among them, otherwise, he tends to brush off the others commands or requests and continue to do his own thing, unless it seems important enough that he should look into. He has such a minor presence that he is often barely noticed when the gods gather, which he likes, because then he gets to listen in to their conversations, even their private ones that they like to keep between their little groups. He loves secrets, and learning of them, it has always been a rush for him when he finds out something that he didn't before, either from the Gods themselves, or from the world of the mortals. And since there are always new ones coming into that world, there is always something new to learn, which keeps him excited, and dedicated to his work. The one thing that gives him great joy is stirring up things around the gods themselves, often using his mimicry and forgery skills to cause mischief between them. If he knows that two gods are on edge around each other, he will use his mimicry to speak like them and take jabs at them, waiting to see if one of them just snaps for a moment, or if they can both be so passive aggressive towards each other that it knocks Keeper onto the floor in laughter. He will also place forged documents, possibly a plot against one god, written by another to create a little "fun" for Keeper and those others that catch on. It is to note that he doesn't do this often and will take centuries in between these pranks in order to not get himself caught. When he needs to speak he will often use his minor illusion magic to write out what he is going to say. But sometimes, when it is important, he will speak using his mimicking talents. This makes his words have impact when he says something, because most often, they won't hear anything from him at all. Appearance: Keeper is a black feathered, raven Kenku, with ice white eyes and a sharp black beak. His wings were destroyed long ago, and replaced with human like arms and hands. When around the other gods, he stands shorter than them all, doing whatever he can to make his presence as little as possible, on the mortal plane, he is 5'8" tall. He has a thin, athletic build, but his muscles are hidden under his thick feathers that cover his entire body. When in the mortal realm, he wears simple dark brown or black robes, tattered around the hood and ends of it to look like he is always coming from a long ways away. He walks with a staff, acting as if to favour his left leg and hunches himself over to make himself seem smaller than he really is. He wears a skeleton mask over his face, that is actually a Helm of Comprehending Languages that allows him to listen to, and read all kinds of different languages, something that he needs in his field of work. When he is with the other gods, his robes are mended, cleaned and made of fine materials. His helmet is often placed within his robes, always there if need be, but doesn't wear it when around them. Orders that had come directly from their leader, which he obeys. ![]() What he looks like under the mask
Influence: During any major event within this world, Keeper has been a part of it, he seeks to keep balance to the world, not allowing anyone race, kingdom, or ideology to reign supreme. There was once a fanatical religious group that had racist beliefs that was once influencing and converting the elven race and pointing it's hate towards the Dragonborn, with the help of Keeper gaining information that the leader of the religious group had once had relationships with Dragonborn, even though he spoke such hate against them. Keeper found it out, spread the scandal around, and the group was torn apart from within before any real harm could be done to the Dragonborn population. When a warlord was running a campaign across the lands, Keeper was able to find out key areas where they had been gathering resources and gave the info to the alliance of kingdoms that fought against him. With the information they were able to cut off the supply chain to the main army and weakened them to the point where they were eventually defeated. These are just two of the great many things that Keeper has been a part of, but this gives the best kind of idea of the work that he does for this world. Your symbols: My three symbols are Three Eyes that make the shape of a triangle, A balanced scale, and A scale with the three eyes, two are sitting on the scales and the third is at the top of the scale. Uncommon magic item: Helm of Comprehending Languages (Shaped as the skeletal mask) Rare magic item: Bracer's of Defense Kingdom: Otten, the kingdom that is mainly inhabited by the more animalistic creatures of this world, their King is a Loxodon named Amril Johas and their Queen is Tamryl Johas. They are a haven for all kinds of races, welcoming, open, and filled with creatures like Dragonborn, Leonin, Kenku, Herengon, Owlin, Bugbear, etc., if they are willing to take an oath and swear their loyalty to the King and Queen, they are often allowed to join the kingdom and become a citizen. The Kingdom is unique, as it has a great deal of different types of areas that have been created to best suit the beings that live within it. Think of it like Zootopia, but set to fit the times that we are in. They make most of their income as a tourist location, the many different areas and creatures bring in all kind of races to visit and experience the vast different locations within the kingdom. They are currently not hostile towards any other kingdoms, but have a list of banned people that are not allowed into the kingdom because they have tried to kidnap some of the creatures within the kingdom to sell as exotic servants. A landmark or two: The Archive of Secrets - Hidden deep underground, the secret door hidden within an ancient, hollowed out tree that requires two different keys and a command word to get into. Inside, deep within the earth is a gauntlet of extremely difficult and dangerous traps, protected by Golems of all kinds that are scattered throughout the area, but has an easy way to get around them if they know the way, at the end lies a wall with holes carved into them, as well as accommodations for a number of people to stay and rest, or lie low if they need to. This is the gathering place of his worshippers, those that have proven to have the skills to bypass this gauntlet can reach this open area, there, they place the scrolls or tomes into the holes, if Keeper considers the information worth anything, they are rewarded accordingly for their work, it being placed in the space where the information was originally. He also hands out missions for his worshippers within these spaces, often they are forged documents, or information that could tip the scales to become balanced again with a location or person that it should be placed or given to. What they don't know is that there is an entire other section beyond that wall that Keeper only has access to, he enters the area, takes the information that is being given to him, places the reward and archives the new information accordingly. If someone were to ever go into this place, they would have access to a great deal of information that could tip the scales of power greatly in their favour. The Bloodplains of Aram - Strangely, a great many wars had taken place on these plains, it is as if the armies are all eventually drawn to this place for some supernatural reason. Some say that this is a desired observing place by the gods of war, a great area to watch battles between mortals. There has been so much blood spilled on these plains, that the grass that grows here is crimson red in colour. The place is haunting, the dead seem to speak when the winds blow through the grass, sometimes it sounds like a war cry, or it sounds like the screams of dying soldiers. Necromancers often come to these plains to gather the remains of he ancient dead to use in their magic, or bring back to life, in order to gain knowledge of the past from them, or to try and create minions to serve them. But they do not stay long, because the longer they stay listening to the voices around them, the more they all seem to fall into insanity. A sample of your post, describe a typical day of your god: Keeper, found in the study of his tower, was going through his normal routine, reading the notes that had been made by the servants of the gods (like angels, I am assuming we have underlings in the Gods realm that help us if needed). Making note of the more important information, he moves from one end of the study, covered in books, to the other end of it, which is completely covered in smaller maps with a very large map in the center of the wall that is constantly updated to be the most current. He then hands his servants parchments of paper that stick to the map where he needs them, they are coloured with different paints, each indicating levels of hostility and peace between the different kingdoms throughout the lands. He then has them take yarn that he had also had coloured in a number of different types of paints, each indicating alliances and feuds between the different kingdoms. When things are updated and he has a good chance to look over his work, he continues to make notes of which places he should be looking into. He then travels down into the mortal plane, taking his place behind the wall of secrets and looks to see if there is new information from his worshippers. He takes what is new, reads them over, then organizes them where they belong. He then looks within the archives to find the places that have gained his concern and looks over his tomes of secrets and finds information that might be useful for him to either give to his worshippers, or to do himself, if the concern was great enough. He sorts out his missions to his worshippers and places the rewards that he feels that they deserve for their work. He will usually continue this until the sun has gone down, now is the time where Keeper gets to stretch his legs and get some more important work done. He looks to the places that could be an issue and does what is needed to change the direction of where it was going. Forging documents, setting up bribes, all that kind of fun stuff. When his work is done there, that is when he sets out. He travels to where he is most needed, using his skills in stealth and teleportation abilities, he is able to easily get into the buildings of the people he wishes to influence. Dodging the servants, guards, and other nobles, he moves to where his target will most likely find the information that is to be given. Or, if, in the case that someone needs to die, he will wait in a place where he can get that person alone. Using his hand to hand skills, he will leave no marks that indicate an attack, but instead tries to hit them in places where it would seem like they could have tripped, fell and hit something on the way down and that is what killed them. When he is completed his work, he will head back to his home in the realm of the gods and note things that are important that he should note for the morning and continue the process again.

So, this sounds dope. Let this serve as a placeholder, and I pray to you fledgling gods that I've got time enough to complete it!

EDIT: Ironically enough, given my response to Kepheren above, I'm also probably going to bow out. I have some ideas I'm knocking around, but I don't think I've got the time to really dig into this as much as it deserves. Plus, I don't want to rush through an application and potentially snag a spot from someone else. Either way, this is an awesome concept and I'm excited to read through it once it gets going! Good luck to everyone applying!

Are the Rare and Uncommon magic items supposed to be created by/gifted by our characters, or items that we'd like our characters to start the game with?
