Welcome to The Library! This is a forum where you can display your creative writing talents and get support and help from our community. It may also be used for showing off the wonderful tales you are spinning in your games in compiled form. I'm gonna lay a few ground rules for the posting conventions and then you can have at it! Sound good? Alright.

Posting Works
Remember that just like all the other parts of this board, The Library is governed by the RPG Crossing rules.

As per the request of the Admins, this is to be a text only forum. If you have illustrations that accompany your work to which you have the legal rights, these are generally acceptable, but please keep them small or hidden by a spoilerbutton so they don't detract from your text.

Please please please, proofread and spellcheck your works before submission. It's very important to keep the works in this section high quality. (I've even provided a link to a free online spellchecker in my signature.)

Also, please don't make non-creative-work threads. If your thread doesn't have some sort of literary work in it, it probably goes in another section.

Comments, Criticisms, et cetera
When you post a work, please mention either at the beginning or end whether or not you want to receive criticism or other comments. And members, please respect the author's wishes. Remember, you can always send an author RPXP with a comment if you really like their work, and PMs are private ways to offer feedback.

Always remember to be constructive with criticism and try not to sound harsh. Often, people pour their hearts out in writing, so harsh comments can do quite a number on one's psyche.

If we've missed anything, please feel free to PM your questions to one of the Library mods (listed in the DM box at the bottom of the forum list), or ask us here.

I have an idea if that is ok.

I think that we have enough writings to make up a contest. I don't know what the prize would be, maybe rpxp or something else, but in all it would be fun.

I dont know... I already gave xp to a lot of people for their stories... What would have to happen is someway to have all applicants supply xp to the winner.

It seems a bit complicated. I will ask the other librarians.

How about a monthly contest for short stories and poems, with a prize being an interview in the Newsletter, like winning the DM of the Month award? Possibly have a quarterly contest for longer works, with the same result?

Yes, we are looking into the same basic concept. We will be deciding very soon what is up.

That sounds great! I believe I will be the one cheering from the sidelines on this one, though. I am not the best writer, though I have my moments. I would love to see a contest though. I enjoy reading other people's short stories and poems. I gives me inspiration and help me derive new ideas for games.

Hey, I wanna link my stuff in my siggie like ionlink, but I keep running out of room and having to delete other stuff from the siggie. Shouldn't there be a way to link to writing like there is to link to charries? Just a thought... because I hope to have quite a few things up here soon...

Well, you could copy the url of your stuff, then for your character name just put "My poems"

That seems the best way to do it.

The character linking need not only be characters. Rodrigo uses it for the help guide.

You'll want to mention that in the 'DND Online User Resumes' thread. They're already working on adding things to the profile, so hurry up before it's too late!
