I like the combo of Still_Pond's and Ratpigeon's recharge-roll: to do it-pre-emptively. I'm going to roll next round's recharge here and now, and then I'll roll a recharge for round 3 when I make my round 2 post. That way, I'll know what my options are for the coming round before I make the post.

It might be helpful to note, for the metallics of the group, that I'm pretty sure we just have one re-charge. That is, you don't separately recharge your two breaths. If you're out of breath, you're out of breath. You don't charge (for example) lightning separate from repulsion. Or fire from sleep. They're either both re-charging or both available.

If anyone cares, the way I've summarized this in my stat block is in the spoiler below. Also, I'll put the recharge in that block, cuz that's how we're rolling from now on!

: so, next round, the first line of the breath block will read "Breath Available (A) or Recharging (5-6) (R) this round: R", since I just failed my re-charge roll.

Edited to add: I think since the chromatics only have one breath type, I'll simply put (spent) or (available) in his stat block, to make it really obvious, and add the dice result for anyone who loves numbers. Perhaps something like (failed to recharge on a 2). Yeah, I like that. We're a work in progress.

I was under the impression the gas breath didn't need to charge, but yours probably makes more sense, Wyn.

Savoy, officially, does the secondary breath need to recharge?

Also, sorry about jumping the gun. I think Aer's flaw is shaping up to be impulsivity (and a tendency towards melodrama )

5 SEcond version: Yes, you need to recharge to use any breath weapon again.

15 second version:
Yep... Wynamoinen is correct. Dragons have one breath weapon which needs to pass a recharge check in order to use after the first use. If you have a breath weapon available, some dragons have an option to manifest it in an alternate way.

PS: Because this is, pbp, I'm ok with the preemptive roll on the recharge, as long as we only roll once for this check you are welcome to track it any way you wish. (One check each round after the use)

For example, if you use the breath in round 1, you have a recharge check in round 2, round 3, etc. until it recharges. After a short rest it automatically recharges.

Please do not 'check-forward' more than one round in advance. - your dragon won't know if it has a breath available until it actually does, so knowing exactly which round you get a recharge might effect its long-term strategy.
