The great Richard Roundtree played the DISCO KINGPIN and James Coburn played Action Dan. James would never play this character again and rarely spoke of the movie. His wife at the time Beverly Kelly LOVED the movie and would play it at parties just to annoy her famous husband. They broke up shortly after her 10th screening of the movie. GAUDS! I even generated part of the theme song for this fake movie! Listen to it! I LOVE IT! https://www.udio.com/songs/br2mYRYZdHj8QahcUsju23 Lyrics: [Verse] In the neon light, Action Dan's takin' flight (oh-oh) Spinnin' through the crowd, ain't no time for a fight Groovin' to the sound, he's the star of the scene Disco Kingpin's here, but Dan's ready and keen (oh-oh) [Chorus] Action Dan, take the stand Show the world your soulful plan Action Dan, feel the groove Make the disco shine and move Last edited by Tacobob; Oct 17th, 2024 at 10:02 PM. |

Bob Joe Frank: The Deck Hand
My name is Francis Redenbaucker. I am an actor, born and bred. When I watch movies, I don't observe the film. I become each character in my head, and find greater depth than those posers on the screen could ever dream of. I do film and theatre, because a true master of the craft can do all! I have never had a lead role, but I have neither needed or wanted one. That just takes time and focus away from my character building. Did you see that one episode of Law and Order with that bartender that showed up for a few seconds? I built worlds within worlds for that bartender. They should've given me an Oscar, but I will settle for my own knowledge of my greatness.
Character's Name: Bob Joe Frank Character's Appearance: Imagine the blandest, most generic form of "straight white man" and then dilute it by 10%. Reasonably handsome-ish, reasonably athletic-ish, and reasonably charismatic-ish, this guy is just all around totally invisible. You see him and forget about him three seconds later. Every time you see him on screen, you think he's a different character but no it's the same guy! "What's his name?" "Whose name?" It's that guy. That one guy that was in that one scene. Or no, was he the guy from that other scene? No I thought he did that one scene with that one guy. It's that guy. Playbook: Thespian. Bob Joe Frank has more character depth than Denzel Washington in Training Day. Character Overview: Bob Joe Frank is the best ship hand for lightyears around. Nobody has a better knowledge of how to complete the menial, tedious work that holds the ship together than Bob Joe Frank. And whenever there is a crisis, he is the guy that is there trying to fix the problem with the ship because the super hyper mega ultra battery drive power clamp 300 is malfunctioning due to laser hyper fixation modules misfiring in the subterfator fuge. He knows everything there is to know about spaceships, and he knows exactly how to fix them... unfortunately though, usually fixing needs tools or spare parts that are rarely kept on hand, but must be obtained from nearby planetary bodies. And in every other way, Bob Joe Frank is totally average. Impressively average. He doesn't really suck at anything, but he isn't great at much either. He is fine at fighting, he is fine at public speaking. He is a C student. He's just totally, absolutely, undisputedly average. So average it's jaw-dropping. But again, as soon as there is a problem with the ship, suddenly he is the only man that can possibly help and he knows absolutely everything there is to know about everything. But there is usually very little he can actually do about it. Audition Tape: Ok, here's the fun part. Give me an RP sample showing off your b-movie acting chops. Write a brief scenario from one of the scene prompts below, or make up your own! 3) Quick, your luxury suite has been sabotaged! You're locked in and the room is slowly filling up with deadly space poison! How will you escape? "This smells worse than a blorgon's blowhole! How can I possibly escape?" The camera zooms in dramatically as he remembers the exact technical specification of the ship that wouldn't be beneficial in any other scenario except this exact one. Thank goodness he has a perfect photographic memory with exclusively ship specifications! Bob Joe Frank frantically turns to the control panel on the wall and starts pressing buttons at impossible speeds "If I subvert power from the cybertron powerconductor supertransmittor coil to the megaomegamegamega battery then I can finagle the flanges into fully fixing this frustrating fume fix!" With a number of important, specific actions that all seem to be the same exact thing done repeatedly, suddenly a series of beeps and clinks occur and the very green gas is pulled out of the room impossibly fast, but magically of course there is still oxygen to breathe. Bob Joe Frank is completely fine, although seconds more and he would have been completely dead. He leans against the wall with one hand, takes a deep breath, and looks into the distance. "To be or not to be... space poisoned. I live to fight another day. " |

Applications are now CLOSED!
This was an extremely hard choice--- I had planned on 4 to 5 players and ended up with 8 solid applications. I even toyed with the idea of running two separate groups, though I'm not sure if that would be feasible given that I'm also judging Iron DM this year. So, I turned to the rulebook for answers. How many players do the official rules call for? The answer? "At least three." No mention of a maximum. But you know what? If playing this game once and skimming through the rules has taught me anything, it's that if one flaming motorcycle jumping over a robot dragon is awesome, then five flaming motorcycles jumping over a robot dragon is extremely awesome. As such, everyone who applied is in!! Hop into the game forum and sound off in the OOC Thread if you're still on board! |
