Henry Yarbo Name: Everyone just calls him Hank Age: 28 Race: Human Adventurer Class: Urban Ranger Alignment: Chaotic Good NPC Class: Expert Profession: Handyman Hobby: Fishing Background: Born and raised here in [Name of Middle of nowhere town], Hank possesses a certain level of infamy within the town. Mostly, because of his perpetual tardiness. If you hire him to paint your fence, he will paint your fence, but it might be a week or three late. When he tells you he'll be there first thing in the morning, he probably won't show up till noon. Most people refer to it as "Hank time". Despite this hiccup in obtaining his services, the quality of his work is quite high and very reasonably priced, which is why most people learn to put up with it. Interestingly, the are only two instances where Hank time manages to be coincide with the rest of the world; happy hour, and going fishing. Hank only knows hot to live cheap, and cheap drinks is the only way he knows how to drink. Fishing is, of course, his favourite pass time and something he often makes time for in all its forms. Hank lives on the edge of town in what can best be described as a shack. Despite its rugged and cheap appearance, it is actually very well maintained, Hank simply favours function over form when it comes to the things he owns. Hank has had limited experience with love which might be due to Hank time, but it could equally be due to his thrifty and frugal life style. Hank is Hank, and nothing will change him. Character Sheet Urban Ranger 3 / Expert 1 Animal Friends Restless: A blood bay female horse (light huntingwar trained horse). Hank loves his horse, he's had her since she was barely old enough to leave her mothers side. Restless, as her name implies, loves to run, so a large portion of Hank's days are simply taken up by running Restless till she's tired and ready for a nap. Thanks to her, Hank is able to reach all his favourite fishing holes, or hunting grounds yet always make it back in time for happy hour. Duke: A bloodhound (huntingguard dog). Duke is Hanks beloved old hunting dog. Duke goes everywhere Hank goes, he's not left his side since he was a puppy. Duke is a great judge of character, Hank always trusts people if Duke likes them. After all, who could be a better judge of character than man's best friend?

I realize this is a focus on RP over combat, and to that extent, I would like to request the allowance of Background skills. I very much wish for my character to have profession fisherman and handle animal and this would really help me out. If not, I'll figure something out.

Sorry about that. Judging by the number of good looking applications I’ve got here I should probably run this game. It will update once a week unless everyone has posted and I can get another update in.

I’ll look through this thread today and provide feedback and answer questions, and/or comment how BD0 lives on the set of walker texas ranger.

Name: Hawke
Race: Half-elf
Class: Spell-Less Ranger
Profession: Hunter/Trapper
Appearance: Young and handsome looking male, stands at 6 feet even with a dark hair and matching goatee. The hair goes well with his brown eyes. From a distant, he passes for a lean human, but at closeup, his semi rounded pointed ears reveal him as a half-elf. His posture shows his confidence and with alert eyes, he definitely can hold his own. Dressed in green and brown. He seems to match the forest well, armed with a sword sheath at his right and a dagger sheath at each thigh with a bow strapped at his back, he looks at home in the forest.

Personality: He gets along well with others, being in a small town, most everyone knew everyone. A place where everyone looks out for one another. The town being miles away from other settlements will do that, make the people closer.
He is a good listener and well behaved and does his part to help his hometown prosper. When strangers travel through their town, he would help guide them to whatever direction they are heading to, sometimes leading them a few miles, then sending them off on their own and then heading back.

When not spending time with his friends in his spare time, he would be out in the forest hunting and trapping. He appreciates nature’s beauty and prefers it to anywhere else. He skins the fur and sells it to the shop and then skins the meat, keeps a bit for himself and sells the rest at the tavern and others for food. At times he will scout around for any unwanted visitors like the pesky goblins and the troublesome orcs.

Background:Growing up, he never knew his father. Wild elves had once occupied the forest where the town is. There weren’t many, for many had moved elsewhere when the town was built. Why the few stayed, no one knows. A band of orcs had attacked and town people, which consisted of Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, and Humans joined the wild elves against the orcs.
A young human woman was taken. The battle was over, and they looked for the girl but after a few days, the people of the town gave up, they were needed back at the town for the recovery and rebuilding. They feared it was too late for the young lady.

The wild elves though, knew more about the orcs than the others. While orcs enjoying killing and torture, females were different. The wild elves continue to hunt the orcs down and eventually found the creatures and their hideout. Another battle arose, but wild elves had prevailed. One of the elves found the woman and scared as she was, she clung on to her elven hero. The night before they reached back to town, the girl and elf had spent the night together.

A month later, the forest was cleared of all danger. After losing many to the orcs, the wild elves left to rejoin their kin. Eight months later, Hawke was born. As a babe, he was always alert, looking at everything, not missing a thing, so his mother named him after a Hawk but added the e. He grew up with a happy childhood and as adult, he did his part in helping the town prosper, which was hunting and trapping food for the town and scouted part time for any danger.

Gently considering joining in this adventure. The "six people" part is the main thing holding me back. But I guess if this is RP heavy, it may be fine? Or may be worse. I dunno. Point is I may apply.

Edit: Wait, I just saw the "5 people" post. That would be much easier for me.

Edit 2: Would a commoner 3/sorcerer 1 be possible? So they use spells a commoner would know (i.e., no combat spells), and they're new to their magic, too? (I'll make this anyway unless you reply before I get to it). If it's not okay, kitsune commoner or adept 4 with magical tails. Or maybe just that to begin with. Regardless, she'll be an interrogator.

Oliver Field - Farmer Name: Oliver Field. Sometimes known as Ollie to his friend Race: Human Profession: Farmer. Amateur Blacksmith Class: Barbarian (mainly the size and being more in touch with the natural world part) Background: Oliver was the last of a family of thirteen children, part of the massive family of the Fields that seem to fill the countryside. From a young age, he was known for two things; being the kindest, friendliest child in the area, and being heads and shoulders bigger then his compatriots. He's the type that would give the shirt off his back if he could, having come from a poor family himself. Now an adult with his own family, he runs a modest homestead outside of town, with crops and a few animals of his own. Indeed, he's known to have a knack for getting the most out of animals, as if he can convince them to lap more eggs, and be more fruitful. Having a knack for a green thumb, he always has food to spare when harvest season comes in, loading cartfulls of produce that would take normal men groan in pain from the weight. Unlike most in the area, he prefers to live out in the frontier, near to the forest. As he put it, "the air is fresher, the soul is fertile, and the living is easy. What's not to like?"

Seo Pak Name: Seo-Yeon "Seo" Pak Race: Kitsune - Superior Shapeshifter ART Class: Adept 4 Profession: Interrogator and sometimes detective Description: Seo is tall, almost intimidatingly so for a kitsune. She uses this to her advantage in her job — but ONLY in her job. She's good at seeing through lies with her large, fox-like, blue eyes, and even better at getting confessions out of people. Her smooth black hair and foreign accent/appearance would get her a lot of looks if she hadn't grown up in town with her family. She is almost always in human form, save for the times she went into the woods as a multi-tailed, white fox as a child to play. She did play with other children in this form, but usually found she was bullied more when she wasn't human. Not that she was bullied often, some people just don't respect animals, and it shows. Seo is 23 years old. Background: Seo was born in town as the third generation of family members who lived in [town name]. She is an only child, so she was spoiled by her rich parents — even moreso when she showed signs of her tail splitting the first time. She has had only one serious relationship, but he was a farm boy that not only did her parents disapprove of, but died in an accident on the job. She had been mourning him for almost a year before her parents understood what he had meant to her, and gave her "permission" to date whoever she wants from then on. In her childhood, she had many friends, and given the size of the town, she still does. Some drifted apart from her, but not many. Her best friend, [one of the chosen PCs], has pet names for her, and carries her around in fox form. She acquired her familiar, a fox she named burkoki because he had a fish when she found him, when she was in her teens. She got her job after her second tail-splitting, offering her services to the town guards. She'd rather they get the right person instead of just going based on accusations and personal opinions. She worries one day that the local laws will change to not allow her to use her magical charms on the ones she interrogates.
