I have a question about the actual size of the weapon. If the question doesn't belong in this thread I'll delete it. How big is a greatsword? Is it too large to be worn at the waist like a longsword? This doesn't really seem like a rule question but this is the best place I could think of for it.

Also, when buying a weapon with a special ability (Shock, Flaming, etc.), do you pay for a +1 enchantment (for the first few abilities) and the weapon itself? Such as Cost + +1 bonus = Total Cost. Please show an example.

A Greatsword is generally worn on the back, I think there's something written about them. You could always compare sizes on the pictures in the PHB.

When buying a weapon, first determine the total bonus.
( for instance, Flaming is a +1 bonus, so a +2 Flaming longbow is a +3 weapon total )
Then add up the Master Work Weapon Cost to this price ( a MW longbow costs 375gp and a +3 weapon is 18.000gp ) to get the total price ( 18.375gp in the example )

Remember that a weapon must have at least a +1 enhancement bonus before you can add abilities to it.

Thanks, I don't have the PHB readily available just the SRD so that's why I was asking.

So that means the lowest amount a weapon with a special ability costs would be 8,000 + MW cost, right?

You can do a search on google to find out weapon sizes. DnD doesn't have much on this, so personal research is best.

But to answer your question, a medium greatsword is generally at least six feet so it is unlikely to be worn at the waist.

Yep, it's 8.000 + MW cost at a minimum.

That's not technically true. You could find a cost-based weapon ability instead of a plus-based weapon ability. For a weapon with a plus-based ability, yes.

They still require a +1 enhancement before you can put those on it.

Yes, but the minimum cost could be below 8k.

How so? The minimum enhancement for having a special ability on a blade is +2 which is 8k. There aren't any cost based enhancements for weapons in the SRD, DMG, or that I could find in the Complete books.

There's the Finder ability from Underdark. It's only 4800, to a total cost of 7100 + weapon cost.

There's also a few in one of the new books... ( forgotten which one >_< ) that work on Charisma and cost only 2000, so yes... if you count those you can drop below 8.000. But those are kinda rare I think.

Question propably asked a million times:

With the 3.5 version of Monkey Grip (CW) how do things work?

I now have player who is medium sized (warforged) and has Monkey grip.. He uses a large greatsword (with both hands) and also a large Composite longbow. Is this all possible with just one feat?

Thnx in advance,

MM

Nope, because Monkeygrip only works on Melee weapons.
He can use a Large greatsword in two hands, it'll deal 3d6 points of damage.

Don't forget that even with monkey grip you get a -2 penalty on attack rolls with a weapon that's too big for you.

Hey, does anyone know where I can find rules for weapons and armor forged from bronze in place of iron?

Thanks in advance
