Defending the settlement... Damn, we got raids folks!

All kidding aside, the idea of defending home could lead to some nice RP. Maybe we could have something like a tavern thread, and a village thread for stories not necessarily hosted in the tavern?

It's going to be hard avoid combat and exploration in the West Marches. The basic premise is that town is safe and boring. So, all of the actions take place in the Wilds of the West Marches.

I have heard a few folks mentioning a desire for a social component in West Marches. I am running in a Tabletop West Marches game. In it, one of the characters is trying to 'convert' the natives to her religion. Another RP centric idea would be searching for a lost location (e..g, gold mine, temple) based on legends and fragmentary information from the natives. Alternatively, characters could try trading with the natives. I use the word 'native' to mean any sentient species that will not kill adventurers on sight .

Didn't realize it was against forum policy.
Mea Culpa.

There will be RP opportunity aplenty when dealing with town folk. However on a trek this game is heavily geared towards combat.

True. I am not saying I am opposed to them as well, I just prefer more RP to combat.

Seems to me that there are a fair bit of people wanting this. Enough to launch perhaps 2 missions, if a DM wants to do as Behlogan does and have a player and DM game within the same campaign.

My personal take on it that anything outside of discovering new areas (in the overworld or in a dungeon) and combat is a "social" aspect of the game.

So, stuff like in-party banter, chatting with locals in town, attempting diplomacy with the natives we find, investing in the town, relaying discoveries to other players... all that good stuff!

In light of that, I think I'd want my character to be built around the idea of a scout - doing reconnaissance on the land and all that. Hopefully, whatever stats I roll let me build a character who's good at some of that stuff (Athletics, Nature, Perception, Investigation, Survival, etc.).

I want to try a wizard lore master. But I might do the bard of the college of swords. I like the idea of all round character that could be a support character in melee damage, skills and second healer. But all depends of the rolls.

Well I didn't think this game had any chance of resurrection.

I'm in for the straight swap if that is acceptable.

Would there be interest in an all scout oriented group, perhaps 3 or 4 individuals who are good at staying out of trouble and just mapping the lay of the land for other groups to tackle. Would be interesting to maybe have a diplomat, a survival expert, and a stealthy character.

A group like this would probably definitely make for a more exploration and social interaction focus over combat.

I would love to join in on this reboot! I've got a few ideas for my character, but that's mostly up for the dice rolls to decide

Greetings,

Sign me up! I'm very interested in playing in this game.

What is your preferred ratio of Combat/Exploration/Social Interaction?
Combat 35%, Exploration 40%, Social Interaction 25%.

What types of characters do you like to play (e.g., melee, ranged, stealth, spell caster)?
I usually like playing Ranged Stealth types: Rangers & Rogues, Occasionally play Melee types: Barbarians & Dwarf Fighters. An once in a blue moon, I will play a Cleric.

What is your ideal posting frequency?
I can post several times daily if the pace of the game calls for it.

Let me know when I can start rolling up a PC.

I'd be interested in that!

I'm interested in playing in this game, please count me in.

What is your preferred ratio of Combat/Exploration/Social Interaction?
Combat 40%, Exploration 35%, Social Interaction 25%.

What types of characters do you like to play (e.g., melee, ranged, stealth, spell caster)?
I don't have much experience with spell classes or stealth. I've stuck to mostly melee and I find that super fun but would be willing to branch out if this can be a learning opportunity.

What is your ideal posting frequency?
I think I can handle around four or five posts per week.

Thanks!
