@Mal Radagast: I would prefer no less than 2-3 a week so everyone gets to keep moving in an even pace. If it never increases past that I am fine but bare minimum I would appreciate that posting rate.

I'll give it a few days' thought. There's a good chance I can keep up the pace, I just...hate to promise. It feels like tempting fate.

On the other hand, screw fate. 🙃

Name: Mulberry Flint
Race: Mechanically, Dwarf – but I like the idea of coming at the ‘two worlds’ angle from another culture.Half-Dwarf
Class: Paladin? But negotiable, honestly. Cleric or Barbarian could also work.
Theme Song: Wilder Mind
Appearance : Mully stands just over five feet – which is rather tall for a dwarf or rather short for a human, but not implausible for either. Her shoulders are broader than most of the shorter humans you’ll see, but then that could easily be all the farmwork. She does have quite a dwarfish broad nose, but it would be inappropriate to say that to someone now wouldn’t it? She keeps mostly clean-shaven throughout the summers, but lets a full beard grow in over the winters. Sometimes she braids it.

If you catch her out in the fields, Mull is probably wearing simple linen shirt and slacks, something breathable. Covered in mud and patches. Catch he on the road and it’s whatever bits of leather and mail she can afford, something practical. Covered in blood and patches. Everything she wears is worn hard. Probably that’s part of the reason she likes rusty autumnal colors, browns and mustards and mauves – when they’re worn down, it looks almost intentional – but also that’s her favorite season, and by now she’s developed it into something of an aesthetic.

Backstory : First off is quite a cute story, and Mully likes to tell it! There was a woman from Goldenfields, where lives a small priory of Gardeners, followers of Chauntea. Years ago they had nursed an injured hippogriff back to life and now in its old age the poor mare was growing ill – so the woman took the mare to Amphail, where you’ll find the best horse-doctors on the whole of the Sword Coast. But the mare was stubborn and scared and ran off up into the mountains! The woman followed, but too hastily (she was worried and angry and bull-headed besides)…and she took a hard spill halfway up the rough terrain. Would’ve died there if a beautiful dwarven huntress hadn’t been distracted from her foraging by the sight of a frantic hippogriff and followed her to discover the unconscious woman.

The dwarf nursed the woman back to health, and then informed her that the hippogriff was not in fact sick at all – she was broody, and looking for somewhere high up to build a nest! She escorted the woman back to Amphail, where they sent word to Goldenfields, and then the woman surprised her by asking to stick around for a while. A few years later, Mulberry was born. (They named her after the berries her dwarven mother had been foraging, which were not native to the mountains but had been cultivated over years because she loved the taste.) She was never given a formal clan surname, as the restless half-dwarf didn’t fit in half as well as they’d hoped. She wasn’t as resolute and traditional as a dwarf ought to be, and while she loved her community, she could never seem to sit still long enough to become a part of it.

There were no new roles to be filled in the pattern of dwarven life – it was a culture set in stone. And in turn, they worried that there was nothing stony about her. After a few too many clashes in a world where everyone is as stubborn as rocks, Mull’s mothers took her on an extended vacation to Goldenfields. She took to the road and the farmwork and life under the sun like a natural – there aren’t really seasons underground, you know? You can’t feel the time pass, and there’s little in the way of changing landscape while traversing a network of caves either, no matter how meticulously carved and crafted. Something in Mully felt the need of that passage. Her mothers (informally) gave her the dwarven surname Flint, after the stone found in the chalk beneath the fields and the foothills. The Gardeners say that it’s made of living things, or the memory of life at least. Her mothers told her that flint helps to kindle fires and craft tools because it remembers where it came from, and always to encourage life to grow.

Dreamer
right-aligned image

NAME: Dreamer

RACE: Tiefling

CLASS: Wizard

ALIGNMENT: Neutral Good

Sage (Scribe)
-Personality trait: I am used to helping out those who aren't as smart as I am, and patiently explain anything and everything to others.
-Ideal: What is beautiful points us beyond itself toward what is true.
-Bond: I've been searching my whole life for an answer to a certain question
-Flaw: I am easily distracted by the promise of information

APPEARANCE: Dreamer is a young male Tiefling. At 17 years, he still retains much of his youthful appearance with round, full cheeks, bright golden eyes and not a wisp of facial hair in sight. His skin is a deep red just a few shades to the scale of purple and his shaggy loose curls of maroon. The large horns set to either side of his head fade from his skin color to black as they curl behind him. Other marks of his race are the pointed ears, fanged canine teeth, and the thick, devil-spade tail that swoops from his spine. However, his youthfulness and good nature are somewhat at odds with the scars that mar a few places along his face and down along his tail, as those are the most exposed parts of his body to see them.

BACKGROUND: Dreamer has lived the vast majority of his life thus far in the halls of the Academy of Neverwinter. He didn't know anything about his parentage, which was just about the only thing he knew nothing of. What he knew was that from the age he could remember anything, he'd been a ward of the school, looked after by various members of staff over the years with a constant focus on learning and education over such frivolities like friends or play. Once he could read and write, he began his trade of scribing text for the students to use. Although he was not technically a proper student, living there, he naturally picked up many things and, as he got older, he would even assist students who were having trouble. Some appreciated this, others saw his eager helpfulness as bragging and sought to keep him in his place, leaving him with several scars from altercations over the years.

His name was given to him in a derogatory manner, since, even as a boy, he had a vivid imagination and always seems to think with his head in the clouds rather than in the moment. But he's spent a lot of time alone and the solitude drove him to make his own worlds and his own friends. With access to the spells that he studied by copying over and over, he learned how to create his own companion, calling for a fey-rat whom Dreamer often talks to and keeps with him. But also, the illusions he learned to create he could twist into different voices and these wisps of pseudo-friendships could talk back to him when he was particularly lonely. There are times he forgets that these are not true voices but only reflections of his own mind.

But, for all of his time at the Academy, it had never become a home to him, and, as his moniker mocked, he dreamed for more. When one day he overheard that a local shop keep was moving to open a location in Phandalin of all places, and was looking for assistance as he prepared to leave, Dreamer felt a twinge down along his spine, to the tip of his tail. Perhaps, this could be a chance, for even to glimpse the caves of Phandalin would be a thrill beyond anything he could just read about here.

Roleplay sample: "I would really like to go Nico," The Tiefling sat at a desk, lantern lights flickering in several places giving him enough light to work, although currently a book lay open and the pen sat in the jar of ink. Rather than writing, he had one hand propped on the desk and his chin sat open it as he looked wistfully at a little grey rat. The creature squeaked and playfully nibbled his master's fingers.

He chuckled.
"All right. I suppose you're right. But, how do I go? Should I ask permission, do you think?"

"Permission?" hissed another voice, deep and gruff. "Like they'll give that to you. They want nothing but to make you rot down here."

Dreamer tapped his free hand on the desk, heaving a sigh.

"It's not all that bad. You know how dramatic Kohler can be," a higher pitched, feminine voice whispered in turn. "At least you have a place here. You've never spent any time out on the road, how would you even be a help to this man?"

"You have magic! Magic that you can actually USE for once. What is the use of knowledge, if you won't even use it, eh?"

With that, the boy lifted his head and grinned. "No, he is right this time, Jitter. We have knowledge and we can get more. We'll be useful, you'll see. Come on Nico!" He stretched out his arm, allowing the little furry beast to run up his arm and then settle into his pocket as he gathered up a few books and slipped out into the city with no sadness in his heart for what he might be leaving behind and only excitement for what might come.

NAME: Elatoris

RACE: Wood Elf

CLASS: Fighter

ALIGNMENT: Neutral Good. Elatoris is Good through-and-through, but he swings between Chaotic and Lawful: his elvish nature bubbles with chaotic freedom, but his responsibilities as a future ruler have required him to develop a degree of control.

APPEARANCE: Elatoris is 5f11 and fairly imposing in build - at least for an elf. His jawline and cheekbones are pronounced and his eyes slightly sunken. He has a broad smile, and his grey eyes glitter like silver when he smiles, but he rarely allows himself to exhibit such warmth - fearing that it may undermine the gravitas he has worked so hard to cultivate.

In most circumstances Elatoris keeps his long brown hair swept back and tied behind his neck, leaving his ears exposed to pick up on the slightest noises of the forest. His pale skin ripples with his well-practiced muscles.

BACKGROUND: Noble.

Elatoris (El to his friends) is the eldest child of Aequinal, the leader to the Sorrowdel tribe of wood elves, which inhabit a region of the High Forest near the Sorrowwood. Although the tribal society is fairly egalitarian, it is expected that, provided Elatoris proves himself, he will follow his father in a position of leadership.

Growing up amongst a loving family and a welcoming tribe, the most significant event of Elatoris’ early years a fall into a spider’s pit whilst hunting with his father. He was saved from death only by a narrow margin, and the episode has left him with a deep phobia of spiders, something which he takes great pains to hide from those around him.

The Sorrowdel suffers from constant raids from savage gnolls and so it is expected that the leader of the tribe will be a warrior - leading the tribe in battle, and leading from the front. Elatoris has been trained as a warrior from a young age and is skilled with sword and bow.

Elatoris has traveled to Neverwinter to complete his warrior training with his uncle, Erneiros, his father’s brother. Erneiros believes himself to be the stronger warrior of he and Aequinal, and so chose to leave the tribe lest he come into conflict with his brother. Erneiros is skilled in the Eldritch arts, and it is these that Elatoris wishes to learn.

Since coming to Neverwinter Elatoris has been plagued by ever-worsening dreams of spiders. He lies awake in bed in fear of sleep. And is too groggy during the day to focus on his training. He fears Erneiros may know something.

PERSONALITY TRAIT: Despite my noble birth, I do not place myself above other folk. We all have the same blood.
IDEAL: It is my duty to protect and care for my tribe.
BOND: I will face any challenge to win the approval of my family
FLAW: I want to much to follow in my father’s footsteps and be a great leader. But I also want to be free. I don’t know how to reconcile these two sides of my character.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:

"Da" called Elatoris. It was gloomy all around him. He tried to move his right hand. It moved but two inches, seemingly tied with some flexible rope. He tried left. Then his feet. The same result. "Da" he called out. The call echoed around him.

As his eyes accustomed to the darkness Elatoris could need the nature of his predicament. He was trapped in a giant web. He heard the clicking of mandibles. Frozen still, his heart beat like a war drum in his chest. He felt the vibrations of the web. Something was moving. But the darkness was too deep to see.

"Da" Elatoris called. But where was his father? He had been with him but moments ago. And then he was falling. He heard the mandibles. He felt the vibrations. Still he could see nothing. "Da" he called. Something was above him, he strained his head to see, but it was caught fast in the web. "Da" he called.

Elatoris sat bolt upright in bed. Sweat was dripping from his face. Had he cried out in his sleep? Did his uncle hear? Elatroris imagined his uncle finding out. And then telling his father. It was more than he could bear. He decided he had to leave Neverwinter. And soon.

Sasha GalondelNAME Sasha
RACE Half Elf
AGE 18
GENDER Female
CLASS Wizard [Bladesinger]
BACKGROUND Folk Hero [Daughter of infamous dungeon delvers, basically]
ALIGNMENT Chaotic Good ("It's the right thing to do.")
APPEARANCE Short for an Elf, but average for a Human, Sasha is the perfect blend of attractive Elven beauty and unruly Human appearance. She keeps her strawberry red hair a mess and is usually wearing dirt-stained secondhand clothes when she is not working one of her various jobs. Sasha has keen, light-blue eyes and a warm smile.
left-aligned image

BACKGROUND
Sasha was born to a pair of dungeon delvers who fell in love during their many years together. The duo decided to buy a home in Neverwinter in order to care for their upcoming child. Years passed within the city walls and Sasha's father, the Elf in the duo, became restless and yearned for adventure once more. He took up odd jobs as a mercenary or wagon guard until the day he took a post as hired muscles for a merchant caravan headed South and never returned.

Years passed. Sasha had been ten when her father disappeared and her mother did not take it well. Sasha had to take up whatever small jobs she could in order to help pay for her home after her mother stopped working at the local Temple. When she was in her early teen years, Sasha went into a tavern later in the evening and played a hand of cards with a group of rowdy adventurers. Sasha ended up beating the group's grizzled warrior, and the group took a strong liking to the young Half-Elf. Sasha was offered how to wield a blade and shoot a bow by several of the group's members, and she gladly accepted. For nearly a month afterwards, Sasha was secretly trained at night how to handle herself in combat. She took to longer weapons, like the spear or polearm, more-so than a longbow or even a shortsword, so she placed most of her focus into mastering what she felt at most comfortable holding.

Sasha's mother eventually recovered from her depression and began working as a Cleric again. She knew something was strange with her teenage daughter so she followed her in secret one evening and found her training with a few members of the town's militia. Initially she was upset--she had lost her husband to a life of adventure and vowed never to allow her daughter to take up such a life--but Sasha displayed a great talent with her martial prowess and contained something inside of her that her mother just could not quite figure out.

When she was comfortable enough, Sasha told her mother that she wanted to find out what happened to her father. Sasha's mother eventually conceded in their ensuing argument and allowed her daughter to leave. An old family acquaintance--Gundren Rockseeker--needed bodies to escort his wagon, and Sasha was able to earn one of the spots. She was one step closer to discovering what had happened to her father.

RP SAMPLE
"Muriel?" a grizzled Dwarf inquired, skepticism saturating his voice. He sat with his back to the wall in one of Neverwinter's many taverns looking at something on the table before him. When two women approached, the Dwarf casually covered the map with a large handkerchief.

Muriel, the older of the two women, nodded in response. "Nice to see you again, Gundren. You look well."

Gundren stood and gave his old acquaintance a hearty embrace before having her and her companion sit with him. He felt more at ease about his semi-exposed map with Muriel so he was not as concerned at hiding it as he would nearly any other person.

"What do I owe da pleasure?" Gundren asked before taking a gulp of his ale.

Muriel went on to explain that her daughter, Sasha, had learned that Gundren was looking for bodies to escort his wagon to Phandlin. Sasha had grown in her combat prowess and wished to see life outside Neverwinter, and Muriel had wondered if Sasha would be able to tag along to protect the caravan. Upon hearing this information, Gundren gave Sasha a stern look and inquired of her abilities and talents. Could she heal the sick like her mother? Could she drive a blade through a Kobold's body like her father? Or could she conjure blasts of fire with mere gestures of her hand?

Sasha shook her head at all the inquiries. "I poke things with sticks."

Muriel chuckled slightly as Gundren gave her a quizzical look.

Sasha smiled warmly as she looked between the two old friends. "What?"

Combat wise, I was hoping I could use the Bladesinger Class abilities with a glaive/polearm instead of a one-handed melee weapon? If not, no big deal, I'd probably just go Fighter instead and take an interesting subclass at 3rd Level.

Ack, I just noticed the post where you said you were moving the deadline up to today! Welp, my app might remain a bit wippy, at least until tomorrow. If there's any particular questions you have, feel free to ask!

NAME: Flint Stonelock
RACE: Mountain Dwarf
CLASS: Ranger
BACKGROUND: Folk Hero
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good

APPEARANCE:
Flint is tall and broad, practically a giant amongst his people at 5'2" and 165 lbs of muscle. He wears scale mail armor and carries two axes. His long, chestnut brown beard goes down to his waist.

Personality:
Flint may seem a bit gruff at first but he's actually a really nice guy once you get to know him. He's often been told that first impressions are not his strong suit but that he's good to have as a friend after that awkward bit is passed. Being raised in Neverwinter, he is very open to working with and befriending members of other races. The only (common) group that he is really uneasy with are the Half-Orcs. "The brawn of an Orc mixed with the devious nature of a Human? Smells like trouble to me.."

BACKGROUND:
Flint is the second son of Brim Stonelock. His father is a great Blacksmith in the city of Neverwinter and his older brother Clay serves as his apprentice. Despite learning his way around a forge an anvil, Flint was always more interested in adventure. While hanging out in taverns, he would gladly listen to the exploits of adventurers.

Around ten years ago, Flint was finally able to get convince a fellow merchant to allow him to guard the wagon during shipment to a nearby town. During the transport, the wagon was attacked by a handful of Goblins. Flint was narrowly able to fight them off (killing a couple and scaring away the remainder).

After that, he made quite a name for himself as a caravan guard. His father supported his dreams of becoming a grand adventurer. He even went so far as to make the young mans armor and weapons.

[FIELDSET="Akrus"]
left-aligned image
Name: Akrus Thrunja, son of Malcrom Thrunja
Race: Half orc
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Class: Barbarian
Age: 14

Appearance: Human. He looks like a tall, brawny human, and he hates it. You wouldn't mark him for a half orc less you were within a few meters of him, close enough to see the meager tusks and the light green tint of his skin.

Barely 5.10, he's smaller then most half orcs. With a deceptively lean frame, bright blue eyes and a very human shaped face. Worse a somewhat feminine shaped one. He wants it covered by a thick black beard like his father had but he's thus fair failed to grow one. The hair on his head he keeps loose, and short as a knife can cut it. Clothing is typically just his underwear, his armor, and a loose cloak to cover the armor.

Despite his martial prowess the Half Human moves more like a fat drunk then a powerful predator. Long overdone swings, pounding footsteps, constant bumping into things.

Character’s Occupation: Shephard, though he'd probably introduce himself as a freeholder.

Professional Network: He could probably find some orcs willing to give him the time of day in the land of eternal night, long as he was carrying his families ax. Hell if he really did kill his father in single combat he'd probably have very loose command of the tribe, for that reasons smart orcs from there might be inclined to speak with him.

In the lands around Thornwal he has a few third hand connections with the local sell sword guilds. Particularly the Gold Swords whom Catherine's spouse was an honorary member of. He might be able to get through some barriers by introducing himself as a 'friend of Scandol'.

Besides that there's not much, the freehold he lives on is a bit on the outskirts, and he spends most of his free time training.
