New CS Player? Try a Solo Game! All Editions Thread

This thread is for Community Supporters only. To become one, click here.

Hey, are you new to the site and confused about how play by post gaming works? Maybe you are new, have some idea how the site works but want a chance to try a game out to get a feel for what kind of commitment you can make to a group game you're planning applying for. Or maybe you just want someone to walk you through the basics in a game like atmosphere.

Well, if any of those sound like you then why not check into playing a solo game called..........

The Tower of Mage Newby

This is a solo game to teach new site members and players on this site the basics to help them along. If you are interested please post here. Just post that you would like to have a game. You need not have a character concept decided upon, or character sheet created, prior to being accepted.

Every new member who wants to play will be accepted!

Because you have chosen to support our site, I've decided to allow you to skip the queue of NPSG members and get a head start. Hence, the separate application thread

Some Additional RemarksWe are all doing this on a voluntary basis and dedicate a huge piece of time out of our lives to this. It could take some time for us to reach your post, but please be patient - we like to play, too! While you're waiting, feel free to check out other parts of the site like General Discussion or apply for "normal" group games in Games Seeking Players.

For those who want to play DnD 3.5e: If you are new to the game, try reading through the 3.5e SRD while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother.

For those who want to play Pathfinder: If you are new to the game, try reading through the Pathfinder SRD while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother.

For those who want to play DnD 4e: There is no 4e SRD, but if you do not have any of the books (at least the 4e PHB), you can instead visit WotC's site, and use one of their pre-generated characters. Just change the name / gender / other fluff to suit your character. Alternately, you can use one of the following revised versions of some of the earlier classes: Rogue, Cleric, Warlock, Fighter, Warlord, or Wizard. WotC also provides a free PDF that includes the basics on how to play 4th Edition. It can be found by clicking here.

For those who want to play 13th Age: If you are new to the game, try reading through the 13th Age SRD while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother. You can also read through the Pelgrane Press website to get a better understanding and feel for the game.

For those of you who want to play DnD 5e: If you are new to the game, try reading through the Basic Rules while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother.

For those who want to play FATE Core: If you are new to the game, try reading through the Basic Rules and Character Creation Information while you wait. It's all the rules you'll need to play. If you have at least a basic understanding of the concepts of the game from reading this, it helps the games run a lot smoother.

Examples of character creation based on these systems can be found Here.

Whichever option you choose, please clearly note your choice in your post , and we'll see to it that you are contacted by the appropriate DM. Thanks!

AddendumNote to all applicants: For those of you that want to mull over character options before your game starts, please note that you should focus on a 1st level non-evil alignment based character.

Different DMs may allow different source material, but for D&D 3.5e and 4e games, you will likely be sticking to the appropriate edition Players Handbook. And for Pathfinder based games, you would likely be just using the Core Rulebook material.
For D&D 5e games and FATE Core, Basic Rules are fully available.

If you have any further issues or questions, please send zevonian or myself a PM.

On behalf of all the NPSG DMs, we welcome you to RPGCrossing.com and wish you Great Gaming!

[PF2e preferred]

I'd like to have a game.

I'd love to learn how to use this site within the framework of Pathfinder 2nd edition. If no GM is doing PF2 yet I can wait for that (if it ever comes about).

I've done a couple of normal online PF2 sessions, so I'm familiar with the rules and the character creation process.

Thanks for your consideration

GM note to new players: since PP wants to wait on the existence of a PF2 tutorial, and that may take months (or years), new CSers who place a request will still get placed into new games ASAP, even if PP is waiting ahead of you in line.
