Right?I didn't realize that my hit chance was based on Dec, so I am innacurate.

Full of frustration, Valkin decides to try something a little different. Taking an aggressive stance, he puts his hands to his head, change a few words, then suddenly he yells put while thrusting his hands forward, sending a chilling blast directly at the elemental. A feeling of terror surrounds the being.
Casue FearI cast Cause Fear at the elemental. It makes a DC 17 will save. On a failed save, it is frightened for 1d4 rounds, fleeing from me if able. If it makes it save, it is shaken for 1 round, taking -2 to attacks, checks, and saves.

AoOThis is assuming that an AoO is not an immediate action, as "the changes to attack rolls and Armor Class last until your next action."

RudeValkin is effective. My hit chance is lower than it should be, but I inflicted the fear that triggered the AoO. Also, I only have so many spells per day, and I am running out.

OOCI always wondered why DEX was considered an important stat for mages. Now I understand.

I still don't understand the tile labyrinth thing, so I'm thinking skip this room for now.

Valkin thumbs through his spellbook for a moment. Hey, Sanga. I can handle a few more of these guys, but my spells are running low. I suggest that we keep an eye out for a room to rest in. We need a safe place to return to if we need it. He begins to look around the room at the doors. Although, I would feel safer if we could rest in a room that had a door still on its hinges...

Hey, I'm trying to keep them on the hinges! I just tend to go a little overboard when I get in the zone for combat... Do you know any magic that would be useful outside of combat? Maybe I can handle the combat and you just save your spells? In the meantime, I'm looking for a room with only one door to watch, but if we need to, let us return to the entrance room and set up fortifications to camp out.

I have many spells, both to handle and to avoid combat, in addition to exploratory and learning magic.
I can wield the powers of the universe, but I cannot do it all day long. I am not spent yet, but I should be conservative and cautious.
Valkin takes a moment to flip through his spellbook and note what he has remaining. Seeing the empty pages that could hold new spells fills him with renewed vigor. He shuts the book and tucks it away.

There are still mysteries in this place that we have yet to unearth. Let us continue a bit further.
