Looking forward to gaming with you all!
Noticed something strange... every time I submit a character to a game, if the character's name starts with "A" I get in, if it starts with something else, I don't make it. Anochteus, Andreal, Ardanis, Airken...

That's because A is my letter, and therefore associated with greatness.
![]() By the way, I'd like for Roc's "warden" to be one of the PCs instead of Barret - no offense to your NPC, PsionicRanger, but I think it might help generate more RP opportunities. Does anyone feel like filling that role? It could just as easily be Barrett if no one's interested, but as I said, I'd prefer it if Roc's "link" to the group was a player-controlled character. (Unless you have plans for that link, PsionicRanger, in which case let me know and I'll just use Barrett). Last edited by Aosaw; Nov 20th, 2010 at 03:49 PM. |

I don't think Andreal would make a good warden for Roc, personally. At a glance, I'd say it should probably be Dawn. Her incessant cheerfulness (unless I misremember her bio) would seem the perfect counter to Roc's intimidating persona, and she'd likely be the best in the party at swordplay.
I may have misunderstood something, PsionicRanger - was the past adventure specifically supposed to be about this party? If so, I'll have to come up with something good... Finally, a note on collaboration timeframes. Half Orcs have the shortest age brackets of the races (though to be fair I don't recall changeling, kalashtar, or shifter age brackets) - they hit old age at 45 years. This means that the oldest a half orc character could be is 44 to still be middle aged (and would mean that if the adventure lasted a year Roc'd lose another -2 to all physical stats and gain another +1 to all mental stats). If we retired 25 years ago, this means the oldest a half orc could be at that retirement is 19. Since the youngest age for a half-orc to start adventuring is 15, then at most we would have adventured together for 4 years.

Or Roc could just be Old. That might be interesting.
Of course, we could also say that because of his becoming more and more like a Dragon, Roc is beginning to age more slowly. That said, I could see Roc being captured simply because he was too young to be fighting. Last edited by Aosaw; Nov 20th, 2010 at 04:55 PM. |

I love the image of a teeny little girl who's all super-cheerful wrangling a big half-orc barbarian.

Really, anybody could be the wrangler. The "strength" I mentioned in his background doesn't have to be physical.

I'm definitely okay with Barrett not being the buy that wrangles you. Everyone's going to have somewhat of a mutual respect for the rest of the party at the beginning. You've all earned that much from your past.
Be sure to get all of your info up in the collaborations and character sheets sections by the end of the day Monday. Plan to start collaborations with the rest of the party by then as well. I'll be asking some questions starting Monday that I'd love for everyone to answer (using their imaginations) and hope to start the actual "game" by next week. The questions this week will help us set up the story for the following week. I think that's it for now. Any other questions, answer them here. Also, I hope the timeline helps give everyone an idea of where in history you were, are, and will be going...at least to some degree.

Consider Dawn a volunteer. We could be quite the dynamic duo.

Hahahaha! What a mental image that evoked. I can see Dawn dressed as a short, cheerful Batman and Roc as this hulking orc standing next to her in a Robin outfit...

There was a Saturday morning cartoon with a little kid who had a big barbarian sidekick. I can't remember the name of it.

Acheron, how much do we know about your character? Specifically, have you hidden the fact of your race even from us?

Alright, Jai; Dawn is Roc's wrangler, then.

I have the idea of Kai being a becomer was not shown to the party until she first found herself unconscious and when she woke up looking a little different. That was when she "came out" to the group, of course they don't know all of her disguises, but any that she uses around the group she usually tells them. When she first joined she was using her Cole persona (Cole was in my contact piece), after she was exposed she became Kai.
The Lady Kaithrine persona was not fabricated until after the group had been disbanded.

Alright, here's some things to keep in mind, each of you has a mutual respect for the other, you've all worked together before, and if there's not at least that, this idea won't work. That said, to some degree you will all take into consideration things that the others have said, my request here is--even Roc, it's just that Dawn will have that little something extra needed to completely wrangle him in when necessary (I'm pretty sure we're all on the same page here, just saying it to clarify). Kai will have already been honest with the group in the past...if she wasn't, boy would this be hard to retroactively play that honesty, but now time, and age have hopefully healed any wounds of her coming out.
I appreciate you guys for taking on this challenge of playing characters that you've never played before but kind of have to "act" like you have. In a perfect world, I'd take you guys through about a year of playing at low levels, and then bring them all up. We don't have that royalty, and I'd like to see if this is a viable game method with the collaborations and aged characters. I'll post what I'm about to post both here and in the collaborations section, but only answer in the collaborations section. Monday's question, what would it take to thrust your characters into early retirement? This is kind of a brainstorming session, but you were all young adventurers that made it into fairly high levels fairly quickly. I am asking that we come up with an answer together, and try to get that out by Wednesday. I think it will take at least that long to discuss it, but it could be anything--bear in mind this, it required your legacy items to become lost. So, if you guys could all come up with theories, this will give us a good starting point for next week when we start the actual adventuring at level 10.
