That depends on what the tactical situation is. I'll hold off, though, until a couple more party members check in and stand up.

[Added. I'm asking because my selection of spells has several tricks could kick off combat right. But which spell I choose (Grease? Color Spray? Enlarge Person?) depends on where everybody's standing.]

Jamuss wouldn't be too close to the tents, he'd reckon that women wouldn't care for a bloody orc blood with a rotting ogre face fashion acessory being too close to them. Plus he wouldn't block tent entrances, because of situations exactly like the one we're now in.

I'd bet you could Color Spray several of the bandits without hitting any party members.

That's what I'm hoping. A Color Spray to start things off, as soon as a few are grouped together. And then an Enlarge Person to give Nicholas reach and up his damage some. (Nicholas because he can better afford the penalty to AC than can Jamuss.)

Well I'm not sure how you want to stand or want your tents set up, but I'll probably just make a starting area for you guys to do what you do, and that area will be surrounded with 8 men. That might help you out a little, but if it's not enough I'll have the grid up some time tonight.

Appreciated! But you may note that Nicholas has at this point only AC 14 as he wasn't sleeping in his chain shirt.

Say there's 4 tents in the left center of the map, in a line north to south ( up to down).
A couple squares above the tents is the donkey.
A couple squares below the tents is where Jamuss sleeps/has his planks. (hey they both carry a lot of gear and smell bad)

Right center of the map is the other 4 party members, one a couple squares in front of each tent.

Jamuss is a square or two below the party.

The bandits came from the east (right side of the map) and are sort of surrounding us.

Indeed. I'm hoping that Nicholas & Jamuss between them have managed to dissuade a few, but that seems unlikely. I should have known to have Nicholas sleep in his armor, never mind the bad RP.
