I was dreading if I ever had to try and provide food for everyone in the party as well as their animals, while finding a trail, and setting up camp, etc. Toss Vol in the woods alone and he's good. Babysitting is hard work! You're actually better at survival than I am by one point at the moment, even with my druidic bonuses, since I didn't put full ranks in it. So with my spells and our mutual survival ranking, we should be able to see the party through just about anything. PS. No, Asura, that isn't a challenge.

Holgar's a ranger; he has ranks in Survival, Knowledge: Nature, Handle Animal, etc. And Profession: Soldier.
PS, Chrys, we'll just assume the old man drifts along bemusedly, wondering what he did wrong to get saddled with this bunch of buffoons. Come back on in when you're ready. ^_- Last edited by phinar; Aug 19th, 2013 at 10:43 PM. |

Assume you found a suitable campsite, probably sheltered from the worst of the wind in some fashion. I'll let you work out the details of exactly what that entails; perhaps you found a sloping hill that serves as a good windbreak, or the like.

I left it fairly vague intentionally. Perhaps Fraela led us to the place itself, before Vol started unpacking.

I require two questions to be answered and a request for future days.
1. In case it becomes relevant, what is the watch order? 2. I'm assuming Volzakshkin is preparing Campfire Wall. Keep in mind that this spell does not distinguish between friend or foe AND does not allow you vision through it. Are you certain you want to be casting that? Also, in the future, if at the beginning of the day the prepared spellcasters can just give me a little OOC fieldset at the end of their first post of their prepared spells, that'd be grand. |

It allows friends to leave, and I can dispel it at any time. Since it hides any trace of us, it works out.
I will, IC, be asking the party though. Volzakshkin will be requesting the dawn watch, as that is when he prepares spells. And yes, I can give a little snippet, but my prepared spells won't change every single day.

It does allow friends to leave; my main question was regarding watches. It's a little hard to keep watch when you don't have line of sight to your surroundings. That's one less sense, at least.
I just figure that people will prepare different spells for different days. Travel spells are likely different from in town spells are likely different from specific spells. It's mostly book-keeping for me though, so I know what is what for the spell slots. I do a lot of research for these posts, by the by, though it should require less as I flesh things out more. Fun fact: Breland is modeled somewhat after Italy in terms of climate now. Edit: Intent of the post is just to answer actions, not really move it forward TOO much yet. I like to leave opportunities for roleplaying and staring moodily at the forest. Last edited by asura8; Aug 21st, 2013 at 06:28 PM. |

Holgar will take whatever watch nobody else wants; probably the midnight watch. He will strongly recommend that Oswin be given first watch.
Campfire Barrier sounds great in the event we're attacked, but it seems a little awkward for camping. It's going to create a pretty brightly lit campsite, and it's going to block vision for anyone inside the barrier. Also, 40' is tight quarters for 6 + mounts, and Host help us if anyone has to take a dump in the night. Last edited by phinar; Aug 22nd, 2013 at 12:19 AM. |

Keep in mind I can not cast it now, and throw it up if needed later as a combat aid.

I suspect that might make a little more sense; that way, your watch can actually make visual Perception checks.
I'll assume when you camp that you try to at least set up the tents such that they are in the covered area. That seems reasonable enough. |

Yeah, that's perfect. Will afford some protection for those still sleeping while they rouse.
For what it's worth, I envision Holgar as the sort of fellow who sleeps next to his bear. I am thinking he probably will need to do that outside the circle of trust, but if we think there's enough room, he'd stay within. To keep things fluid, I'd like to propose the following watch order: Oswin, Shay'lhen, Fraela, Holgar, Vallo, Vol. If anyone wants to tinker with that, please do so, but it's a starting point. |

There should easily be enough room. It's a 40 ft diameter circle.
