so, for my character, I wanted for him to use a cleaver as a weapon. would this be a improvised weapon or merely another name for an actual weapon?

If a character wants to concept a weapon as something reasonably similar, I have no problem with that. In fact, SOMEWHERE in the rules there is a comment to that effect. Something about not all longswords being precisely the same length, weighing the same, etc. This is a game of fantasy, and I want characters to feel right to their players within a certain tolerance for the game rules.
Good question, by the way. It would probably be treated as a handaxe or something like that. They serve similar purposes and are approximately the same size. Don't quote me on that, though. I may look at it when I'm not half-asleep and think of a better parallel. Off to bed with me. 'Tis midnight.

I would like to throw in a couple of races. The first one is...
Dark Walkers Standard – (0RP) +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma Half Undead – (5RP) Half-undead have the darkvision 60 feet racial trait. Half-undead gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease and mind-affecting effects. Half-undead take no penalties from energy-draining effects, though they can still be killed if they accrue more negative levels than they have Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels they've gained are removed without any additional saving throws. Half-undead creatures are harmed by positive energy and healed by negative energy. A half-undead creature with the fast healing special quality still benefits from that quality. Slow Speed – (-1RP) Movement speed of 20 ft per round. Dual Minded – (1RP) Members of this race gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws. Fell Magic – (3RP) Members of this race gain +1 to the DC of any saving throws against necromancy spells that they cast. Members of this race with a Wisdom score of 11 or higher also gain the following spell-like abilities: 1/day—bleed, chill touch, detect poison, or touch of fatigue. The caster level for these effects is equal to the user's character level. The DC for these spell-like abilities is equal to 10 + the spell's level + the user's Wisdom modifier Race Background and Origin: Dark Walkers were born from the First War, the legacy of the High Necromancer. They are half alive, and that living half appears to be Elven, as the High Necromancer himself was. The Dark Walkers originally served the Elven Gods when they were still Elven, but now that they are a dark and twisted reflection of their former nature loving selves they serve no god. The Dark Walkers hold vast tracts of land in the shadow of one of the great mountain ranges, they have no need to grow food, so the dark and sparse lands are ideal for them. They are ruled by a council called the Five Masters, each of which control a territory in their country. One of the interesting things about the Dark Walkers is that they can reproduce in the traditional manner, all of their offspring are unique Dark Walkers. Not all Dark Walkers are focused on Necromancy, some are artists (though with a slightly gruesome take on it), and others are laborers, building the cities in the shadows. Physical Description: Weight: 110 - 160 lbs. Height: 5'6" - 6'2" Hair: Most dominantly black, but an unnatural red does appear from time to time. Eyes: Range from a milky white, to an extremely light blue. Complexion: The skin can range from the color of a fresh corpse to that of one in the grave for weeks. It really depends on what the Necromancer that formed the family line had on hand.

The Dark Walkers seem interesting, and I could definitely see them as an NPC race, and possibly for the right PC as well. A player wanting to play such a character would need a very interesting backstory indeed.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with "The Hidden Council has consulted the Advisors, and have determined that the (number of PCs) of you are the only hope we have of defeating the Cult of God without it being traced back to us" opening, so characters without strong ties to one of the established nations will have a chance to be chosen. It will make it HARDER to choose them, but definitely not impossible. Keep the ideas/questions coming!

The other race is a "beast like" race. I have a short scene and a write up ready to go but I need to put them through the race builder. I will try to have it all ready by mid-week.
Feel free to fiddle with the Dark Walkers, they are an old idea that I had for a post apocalyptic campaign that I was going to run. I also had a half-construct race that were some of the only surviving hominids after the land was turned to wastes.

Well, if you don't mind me, I think we should start building a roster of who is planning on doing what so then people coming in know what we have, what we don't have, and what the characters might be like.
So far I'm debating between two characters. Both will have the same back story (grandfather was an angel of war, wants to be an angel) but two different class choices and ways of playing. One would be a ninja/alchemist using the scout and vivisectionist for allot of sneak attack damage with cleavers. And the second would be a barbarian/alchemist with the titanmauler archetype wielding four two handed weapons and basically destroying everything in his path with quad great axes and the ability to grow to huge size quite often. Now, both will be a big damage dealer for the party and while one has the ninja class, they most likely won’t be the stealthiest around so we would most likely need another rouge for someone to fill that role. I’m most likely going to be taking the fighter roll for the party. |

I'm not worried about any of that yet. I'm not taking the FIRST applicants, I'm taking the best ones. I'll start building a table of who is applying as what once there are enough applicants to worry about that. This isn't my first recruitment drive on RPGx, and I've learned from my past.
When considering multiclassing, think about WHY your character chooses to do such multiclassing. There should be a change of situation or influential person involved for a character to radically shift their focus in life. A Barbarian/Alchemist, for example is a large paradigm shift. Explaining how that change came to be would be crucial to getting the application approved. I'm not saying that players can't multiclass, far from it. I simply want any multiclassing to make sense, and not simply be a series of min/max decisions to make a mechanical concept. So far only one person has expressed interest in any particular character concept, so I'm definitely not worried about applications any time soon. I figure I'll start the drive in earnest next week after all the lore is compiled. People will probably be much more comfortable once information is available.

Sadly, due to the nature of the pantheon for the other homebrew setting I have, I was only able to port over one god. The rest are too dependent on the space travel setting...

I am not much of a world builder or a race builder; I have been told my several people on RPGX that I make fun and balanced classes and ArchtypesI am only really good at making prestige class and archetypes.
I cannot wait to see how it turns out and with any some luck I will be one of the players.

No worries, most of that is squared away. I'm simply waiting in a goods block of time to get things posted.

Did you get my PM about the Ratfolk nation, Ziether?

Yes, yes I did. I'm working on nations today, but I'm doing them in the order of the races in the Information Hub. They will receive links as I go. I'm a bit sick, so the going is somewhat slow.

Oh, I'll be fine. I'm already feeling vastly better. If my daughter would just get to sleep I'd have a lot more energy.
