Sorry to let you down Ziether. With my work dropping extra hours on me with no notice I have been a little out of sorts the past couple of weeks. It is amazing what you can accomplish with a routine in place, but without one chaos destroys even the best of intentions. I would still like to contribute, but it may not be until later this week.

No worries. I made a deity for the merfolk, and I'll be making the nations over the next few days. This is my one week off from school for the next six months, so I have some extra time except Saturday.

The biggest hurdle is going to be making a map of the world. I'm no artist, and I don't normally use pictures, maps, or sound clips in any of my games. A world map is a must for this. I'm not going to go into detail; I'm just going to place each nation in respect to each other, as well as barren lands and oceans.

I can get you a basic map to put your nations on.
 


The image is huge, you will need to scale it down, but I recommend you put your nations on it before scaling it down.

I'm probably going to do it by hand. Rough outline, then a final draft. It'll look like trash, but it'll be functional. I want to avoid all the terrain coloring.

Okay, are you looking at 4 useable arms or two that can use weapons and two that can only manipulate objects?

2 use weapons and two that can only manipulate objects (can climb with two lower ones). Edit: well maybe need 3 to climb.

Fair enough. If you want to build the race yourself using Race Builder, feel free. I can provide editing/power level support.

Or I can make it, but in order to do that, I need a background on what the race is supposed to be like, and from there I can design something and see what you think. It doesn't need to be AS in depth as the racial entries in the Advanced Race Guide, but the basic sections are the same. Knowing general societal, physical, relational, alignment, and adventurer information helps with designing all the racial traits.

I can get the racial entry done.
Society - Matriarch of course. Possession of an item is whats on you and that is touchy; 4 hands equal easy opportunity to relieve a person of ones things (think kender; dragonlance)
Physical - Small size; reproduce frequently. I am thinking vision/darkvision only out to 20 feet, 360 degrees, but relying on tremorsense and/or blindsense out a bit farther but will need to play with that.

So chemical/scent to know what's beyond visual range, very short visual range.

Swamps as native environment.

6 limbs, 2 for walking/climbing, 2 to aid in climbing/manipulate items, 2 to act as arms with hands/weapons/shields/etc.

Matriarchal society with enormous Male/Female ratio.

Adventurers tend to be male.

Sexually dimorphic ability scores?

Small Size

Natural Armor (carapace)

Penchant for relieving others of items not currently in their possession. If they are holding it/carrying it/wearing it, it's theirs, if it's not attached to the person, it's up for grabs.

Anything I'm missing?

EDIT: Ability Score Modifiers suggestions? If not, I can do it, I just wanted to know what you thought.

EDIT TWO: Different sizes for Males/Females? Medium Females? Or stick with Small?

Something like the following (suggestions definitely welcome)

Arthrops

Ability Score Racial Traits: Arthrops are nimble and alert but are unpleasant to be around
They gain +2 dexterity, +2 wisdom and -2 charisma.
Size: Arthrops are Small creatures and thus gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Type: Arthrops are humanoids with the Arthrop subtype
Base Speed: Arthrops have a base speed of 30 feet and a climb speed of 20 feet.
Language: Arthrops begin playing speaking Common and Arthrops

Defensive Racial Traits:
Natural Armor +?

Offense Racial Trait:
Weapon Familiarity - Arthrops are profcient with ??

Senses Racial Traits:
Blindsense - 40 feet
Darkvision - 10 feet 360 degrees

Queens Medium size

Council of queens
Each councilwoman supplied by a Guild. Guilds run by 1-5 families working together. Heads of family and elite guards are female and medium size. 1 out of 20 females is medium.

Males out number females 5-10 to 1. Adventurers Male.

Sexually dimorphic ability scores? hmm this sounds good, I hadn't thought about it.
Males +2 dex, +2 wis, females +2 str, +2 int?

Also, I am thinking the older the male the farther out he lives from central living quarters (queen); more expendable.
