Luxanna sees Esiak is alright for the most part and his injuries will wear off with rest, and she wanted to pull him aside to politely advise him not to do anything so drastically dangerous while here. However her

attention is quickly locked onto the hobgoblin as he threatens the scholarly man's life. She intents to go give him a piece of her mind to him, but she notices the worrying gaze of the scholarly man and starts to move over to him. With so much focus on the nervous guy she didn't even notice the danger that the hobgoblin has brought them. She looks at the hideous birds and

She was going to power Sarenrae's blessing throughout the area, but decides to hold off on it for healing and future haunts. She knows she can only do that 7 more times today before she exhaust herself.

Luxanna draws her blade and shifts over next to the nervous man, she waits for her moment and takes a

A door opens to the east, adjacent to the courtroom you all awoke in, a young man with confusion drawn broadly on his face tumbling out.

Therewile, René batters the swarm with a small ray of frost, hitting a single big bird that tubles to the ground frozen solid and splatters into black ice. Luxanna's sword also hits a few of the things, killing them instantly - but the swarm is relentless and your weapons seem to be ineffective, as most of the things still remain flying, screaming obscenities at you from dozens of undead throats. "AZZH'GA! - HHRAK NAG DV! LN'VAG!"

Lixir TomesThe whole scene beyond the door was straight out of nightmares complete with undead looking crows or raven flying about with the noises they are making grating upon his ears and completing the surreal drama taking place. Gods please let this be a dream.... Though no indication of waking up seemed to be taking place, for the moment he pulled his other mace from its holster at his side so that he had them both firmly in hand ready to strike should any of the birds get close enough.

"What the blazes is going on here?" he shouts as he moves away from the door but keeping his back towards the wall.

Still hissing at the flying horrors around him, Esiak replaces his longsword into the scabbard and draws his glaive from the weapon cord.

"Pitiful, rotted flying filth that you are, I haven't impressed you yet with my swordplay. Well, I'm not at all moved by your pitiful pecks! Now let's all receive the blessing of this pole-weapon!"

He focuses quickly on each flying object, thrusting at one after the other rapidly with a hiss for each.

lets out another swing in an effort to bash enough of the creature to deter them, his face carrying a grim look of determination as the mass of birds seem unmoved by the effort.

The relentless assault from many blades and a chain finally seems too much for the flock of unholy birds. Mauled and cut into pieces easily, it was simply a question of time it seems, until your strikes destroy tem utterly.
Only a few of the things survived the onslaught, and they scatter, flying wildly around, some coming to rest in the great chendalier in the upper half of the hall - sitting on it grimly in the dim illumination of its cadles, while others escape upwards, following the stairs. At least they cease to croak strange words at you, choosing to only watch you with their cold eyes.

Surprisingly, Talbrak seems actually disappointed that he was too slow to reach the morbid slaughterfest, his fists still eager for some bird-pounding. Malgrim seems to have taken quite a beating - he was first to do battle with the things after all - and his face is quite grim, but he does not seem to acknowledge the many small wounds that cover his body. Sir Rekkart makes sure to thank Abador with a prayer for the swiftness the group was able to destroy the monstrosities. the other judges move into the main hall again, with Halgrak and Ebin making up the rear.

"Killin' damn undead birds, don't you see?! And who the heck are you again?"" Malgrim shouts towards Lixir, while Sir Rekkart eyes the young man with suspicion. Patrissa slowly walks towards him though.
"You are one of the Tomes' boys, aren't you? I knew your father well." She approaches him with caution, holding out her hand.

The whole experience is taxing upon Lixir, confusing as to what is going on and how he got here, mixed with odd senses of familiarity about who and what he was seeing at the same time. Some of the others seemed to pull at memories he had floating about in his head and he tried to
Dice knowledge local:

bring them into focus, but sliding the two maces into their holsters he stepped forward and took her hand. "I am, Lixir Tomes at your service."

Luxanna breaths easier as the foul birds are disposed of. She sheaths her scimitar back into her belt. She brushes her long blonde hair back away from her face and gives a warm smile to the stranger. However, she moves towards the hobgoblin and addresses him, "Mister goblin, threatening that man with his life isn't going to serve any purpose, but get us killed. We must remain relax and ready to respond to any situation that may happen. While I have more important things to do right now, I other than making sure you behave. This beating should be a lesson for you to repent your misdeeds in life, so choose your next actions carefully."

She gives the goblin a smile as she tells him, "Think about it or I'm not going to save you. I wonder how much longer you'll last down here." She then

channels the healing light throughout the room hitting everyone injured, but the goblin. She's hoping this will get the point across.

While cleaning his spiked chain of the bird's filth, he listens to Luxanna's little speech with a curious look, one brow raised. The phrase "mister Goblin" seems to either amuse him or make him angry - it is not quite apparent from his expressions. But the speech as a whole definitly manages to draw hearthy laughter from his throat.
"Tell you what, angelgirl. I see your point. Just make sure your friend here" he points at René with a finger smeared with a mix of long-dried blood and bird intentsities "keeps his filthy mouth shut. No respect from his better huh?"

He procedes to tie the chain around his waist like a belt.
"And I shall give you one piece of advice before you run off doing your important business. Don't go calling people "mister Goblin", if you wanne keep yer head and yer arms."
When she excludes him from her healing, he looks at her apparently intrigued, shrugs and turns around, walking into the mostly dark room again from which he released the birds, rummaging through the wooden debris, all the while muttering and snickering.

"Are those CROWS?! Ha! That puts the phrase carrionbird into a different light!" loudly shouts Ebin with a broad grin on his face - the paint washed away partially from sweat. "Maybe we can sell some to a pirate! Better than a talking parrot!"
He walks around energically, twirling his sap around his finger like a madman.

Sir Rekkart is mostly preoccupied with watching the birds, as if he expects them to suddenly attack them again from above.

Madge lets out a happy "See? Told you boys you can deal with them!", while Patrissa whispers into Lixir's ear "They are all mad. I know you are a nice and steady boy, as was your father. Will you keep an eye on me dear?"
She makes sure to use all her womanly wiles, as she is quite attractive for a woman in her 40s and wearing an outfit that would fit well in a noble gala during the hottest summerdays. She nervously tikers with her ruby necklace all the while.

René René stands and dusts himself off. Oh good, another friend to join us in our perpetual hunt for sanity, what fun! René stares are the newcomer inhales deeply and begins to explain, Welcome to our own personal house of nightmares Mr. Tomes. Let me summarize things for you. We are trapped in this old courthouse, presumably, by Mord the executioner’s pissed off ghost. We are either the jurors who found him guilty or the most closely related and available kin thereof. There is dubious evidence, if that, that he was actually guilty but hung out anyway and we are in the personage of myself, a rambling lunatic of precarious predilections René pauses to drink from his flask, and turns to point at each person in turn, An angelic servant of the goddess Sarenrae, a brawny and delicious barbarian of few words, an overgrown skink, a blubbering and oft incoherent woman who I’m certain has at least a few…skills, a paladin who though righteous has quite the key implanted where the Abadar don’t shine, a walking stereotype of a dwarf, a well-mannered gentleman, an acrobat of some renown, a depressed half orc, a jester who seems to be suffering from lead poisoning and is dafter than I, and that pleasant chap of a hobgoblin is Malgrim. We don’t like Malgrim, but Malgrim’s hobbies include thuggery, Julan cigars, and killing undead birds. René takes a moment to breath after his long explanation. Questions? No, good, we haven’t got the time. René takes another hit from his flask and begins to walk off. Wait for the rest of us Malgrim, who knows what else we’ll find in this hell hole. René follows Malgrim into the next room and quietly speaks to him…well outside of arms reach. I didn’t mean to upset you earlier….I, sometimes I forget that not everyone remembers everything I do, whether it’s because they can’t or don’t care too, I don’t know. I will try to be more judicious about my spewing of information in the future. With that René casts Detect magic and looks about the room, without venturing too far into it.

MalgrimMalgrim looks at René without much expression and emotionlessly says in his deep voice "Good for you, boy."

OOCThe light you take into the room (I suppose you would have a light spell active) illuminates more of it than what was visible from the door. Much of the furniture in this old courtroom has been splintered into kindling. It looks like someone has ruthlessly smashed almost everything in the room. Beyond the carnage, the bench has been overturned and the jurors’ box is in shambles. The windows here are crisscrossed with heavy boards. Where the nails breach the plaster around the windows, rust stains seep like bloody wounds in the courthouse walls. There are quite a few birds lying around the floor, smashed by Malgrim before he ran out. It appears he is quite capable with that chain of his.
There is one door to the north.

Wulfric eyes the ceiling warily as the birds disperse but moves to stash his weapon and shield on his person. As Luxanna calls Malgrim "Mr Goblin" the barbarian cannot help but close his eyes and shake his head knowing that the cleric had tread into faux pas territory whether she knew it or not. As the healing energies once more wash out over the group the tall dark-haired angelkin nods at the cleric, My thanks. You should be careful. Many of us were not overly hurt. Rest may be hard to get and the challenges will surely be greater.

Wulfric approaches the door to pull it open but looks to others in the room to ensure they are ready...

Esiak Telet attempts to discreetly clean the decay from his glaive, then replaces it into the weapon cord. He then solemnly stands by Sir Rekkart during his prayer to Abador. The reverent moments take him back to the happy days of normalcy in his early youth, when the servants would join the Lord's family for worship.

He falls out of his prayer and meditation just a moment, having to chuckle at Ebin's joke.

Carrion-birds!

The prayer finished, he joins Sir Rekkart in locating the remaining birds.

Lixir TomesNot surprisingly he still found it all a bit unsettling, but nodded in greeting as the introductions were made and disengaged his hand politely from the woman, vague memories of her in his father's shop tickle the edges of his mind as he takes it all in, truth be told a bit of fear was also creeping in for if the legends were true and there was revenge being sought than there was always the chance that a debt must be paid. "Pleasure to meet you all I am sure, though you can understand I would imagine that it was under better circumstances."

as his arm fell back to his side he felt the parchment inside his vest and absently removed it to see what it was while following the others.

LixirThe papyrus is written in something that looks like ancient Osiriani at first look, but Lixir swiftly realizes, that the strange symbols are actually just added to the script to make it look more exotic. The writing itself is very masterfully done, and while the language is clearly draconic, the calligraphy here took much inspiration of the osiriani symbols that are present as decor.
It is very obviously a magical scroll, as while he knows the language it is written in, Lixir is not quite able to grasp its contents - An expert would be needed.
Uncovered, the scroll is also quite long, apparently containing either one powerful spell or several weak ones.
