[Game Thread] A Story to tell in the Dark

Talbrak has actually moved to Ebin, and stands protectivly by him. "You did provoke it, but that was a bit much.", while Ebin struggles with pain and sits down on the floor to not fall over. Hearing Luxanna's words, Malgrim's eyes take on a furious expression and his face swiftly follows. "So you and the damn coot feel like you are the justice in here, HUMAN?" while Sir Rekkart takes in Luxanna's speech with a grim face. With resolve in his voice the paladin answers. "When Jarbin Mord was held responsible for his actions, I was sure of the veracity of the claims. But now that this piece of paper has shone a light on the matter, I'm not as convinced anymore. This whole trial may have been rigged from the start as you say." he looks at Lixir with the expression of an old broken man on his face. "I may have well sent an innocent man to the gallows." While he was definitly shaken up by the revelation and Luxanna's argumentation, he appears too preoccupied with his worries of having done wrong to actually do much about the situation at hand. He is still holding his sword, ready to strike, but Malgrim seems to be invisible to Sir Rekkart. "I will surely not apologize to the small pest. But he can have his tooth back." the brute needs a moment to find it and pulls it out of his pounch - throwing it at the ground below Ebin's feet. "In the name of Abadar." he adds with a vicious grin. He then takes a few steps back, unravels his belt and instead pulls the chain around his right arm - ready to strike. "I am sick of this. I am sick of you!" he points at Luxanna and Sir Rekkart."I won't put up with this farce anymore, and I have gotten an idea how we can get out of this place." His face takes on a very pleased expression, while he musters each one of the present persons. "Anyone who wants to follow me, come. But know who the boss is. Angel girl and old coot here can rot in this ruin for all I care." "How 'bout it, boy? You showed that you are actually capable of giving me the respect I demand, and you seem to know quite well how effective I am once I set my eyes on a task." he says to René, while he lights one of his cigars. "And you there, no-words? You know the strength of power." he gestures towards Wulfric."You my dear Lixir seem like quite the pragmatic fellow. Surely want to benefit from my experience?" He then almost prances towards Patrissa and blows his words into her face like sweet nothing - together with some smoke. "And what would I do without your graces to back me up? Just being alive is not always enough." Madge comes swiftly towards the hobgoblin, while he is talking and says: "I'll come big boy. You seem to know what you are doing." And while Patrissa's face betrays that she doesn't know what to do in the situation, she nervously answers: "We - well, I ss-suppose I'll follow you." The others seem undecided.

The tall barbarian folds his arms as tempers flare, continuing to watch and not talk. As Malgrim unfurls his frustration into an attempt to recruit followers of a sort Wulfric eyes the various people around him and shrugs, You have an idea, I'll see where that leads. I came here to know of my grandfather and bring peace to his passing, not make friends. Show me what you have in mind...

Malgrim eyes Wulfric intensly. "Grandfather eh? I suppose that was Gregor." he mutters. "I only have a hunch, but it's better than nothing. But I don't wanne have to worry about these idiots ruining my plan, so I'll tell you if you come."

OOC   Malgrim seems to grow amused and wary at the same time when he realizes that Wulfric is Gregor's grandson.

René BAHAHAHAhahahaha René bursts out into laughter as the hobgoblin and cleric get into a genital measuring contest. I’m sorry I don’t mean to laugh, but the stupidity in this room is utterly astounding. I mean just look around and see how insane this all is, and that’s coming from someone who honeymoons at an asylum. René looks from person to person, his voice uncharacteristically assured in itself Surprised Rekkart? Really? I mentioned when we first got here the dubious nature of the hanging, and do you really think Mord would be the first innocent you’ve put to the sword? You’re a knight militant in a religion, you don’t think you’ve eliminated a few political enemies along the way for whoever signs those orders? So make like a paladin and man up about it. You made a mistake, that doesn’t mean you die for it. René’s eyes seem to glimmer with a fire not previously noted, And you miss holier than thou, Malgrim is a thief and gangster, what do you expect from him? Lawful behavior, I’ll settle for making his threats under his breath and not accosting anyone. And that just leaves you, mister ‘I have a plan.’ Really? A plan that involves escaping a haunted courthouse which as far as we can tell is currently removed from the Prime Material? And this plan of yours just happens to not need someone with divine assistance? Really you want to go battling the undead and their fell energies without the aid of the gods, and you’d risk losing your only arcane assistance as well? Sounds like you’ve really thought this through. René pauses briefly for a breath. Now my lucidity may come and go, but my will to live does not, so put your damn weapons away, unless you want this courthouse to be your tomb, because right now Mord isn’t even trying and people are about to die, just think what will happen when he acts. Oh, and one other thing. René looks to Ebin, You are quite possibly the least funny jester I’ve ever even heard of. The only thing comical I’ve seen or heard from you is Malgrim knocking you around and even now that’s seems to have lost its humor. Now in the interest of survival I suggest we do as our handsome friend here suggested, and hear what Malgrim has to say and decide if it is an idea worthy of pursuit. Everyone has a better chance of surviving if we all act together, minus the useless folk who can just tag along… René’s voices changes to his typical shaky voice as he begins to whisper…His dreams come to men in theirs; they join him or go insane. They. Are. Everywhere! René’s eyes are wide as he stares off into the distance past the arguments, past the room, and past the courthouse, transfixed on a Dark thread, from a Dark string, in a Dark mesh, of a Dark patch, in a Dark Tapestry woven outside himself.

Esiak steps in front of Malgrim and speaks quietly so only he can hear.

"I'm not impressed with your chain, but do covet your brains. I have eaten hobgoblin brains on occasion."

He motions toward the gnome's tooth.

"Before we leave you will, with civility, return the gnome his tooth, hand to hand, or I in seconds will remove your head. Don't speak to me. Either do this with your next action or die."

Esiak steps back and readies his longsword and tail.

Hearing Esiak's taunt, Malgrim just grins. "Bad idea." he says, and suddenly dashes forwards and swings his chain at the troglodyte. Partially coiled around his right arm, it might have looked "sheated", but he actually uses his arm as a lever, putting even more power into it with the free hand. The blow hits Esiak right in the chest, spikes tearing between his scales and introducing him to a specific kind of pain he never experienced before. At least it doesn't last long - still slightly weakened from the cold mist, Esiak looses conciousness. His sword falls to the ground with a loud clank and the troglodyte collapses in his own blood. "Humpf. That was easy. Anyone else wants to try?! Or can we just stop this farce and you save the fools life?" Malgrim shouts towards Luxanna and Sir Rekkart, clearly enjoying himself.

"Lovely...trapped with a bunch of lunatics that want to kill each other before something else hunts us down and kills them." Lixir does not take any aggressive actions though at the whirling of chains his daggers did find their way into his hands but for the moment he remains defensive waiting to see what actions the others might take.

Malgrim takes on a defensive posture, his eyes glaring at Luxanna, Sir Rekkart and René - mostly ignoring the others. Patrissa recoils in fear from the hobgoblin and runs towards the rest of the group, taking a path through the council chamber that once held undead birds. Talbrak walks forward fearlessly, fists bared at the hobgoblin "So you want some clobbering, goblin trash?!", he stops before Esiak's unmoving body, as his short legs don't allow him to reach Malgrim as fast as he would like to. Rage builds in his eyes. Sir Rekkart does likewise, spurred to action by what transpired. He walks forward and stops atop Esiak's body - shielding the troglodyte, as if he expected Malgrim to rain further blows upon the unconcious man. "Lay down your weapon, Malgrim Hurkes. You do not stand a chance against us all, no matter what you think. I fear we do need all hands we can get in this situation, even if yours should be cut off for justice's sake!" his sword firmly gripped by two hands, he looks about to spring into action if needed. Halgrak and Ebin seem to make themselves as small as possible, trying to stay out of everything and vanish in the depths of the judge chamber.

Luxanna chants a spell while the paladin finally starts to find his sense of justice. Little do they know, Luxanna has no intention of letting the goblin live anymore, but she must honor the stupid things strength. She completes her spell and a shimmer aura of protection falls over her. She speaks words of wisdom, but they come off as a dare as well. Challenging the hobgoblin, "If you think you can escape this place without me. Then you have even less marbles then this one." As Luxanna strugs her head towards René.

René Unable to remain silent any longer René begins to chant and move his hands about in a strange way as his voice returns to the confident and strong voice that he rarely uses. Srica Xiekiv! Become enchanted with my name, for my spirit and body your heart will flame, do what I wish and what I ask. Do what I command, every task. And when all is done and all is tame, let it vanish, this burning flame. Please tell me we are all feeling slightly less agitated now?

OoC Cast Charm Person on Malgrim expending one point of my Arcane Resevoir making it caster level 3, which will charm him for 3 hours. He gets a will save to negate, DC 15.

While Luxanna prepares herself for battle and Wulfric presses for a non-violent solution for the situation, René begins chanting an incantation to bind the hobgoblin to his will. Malgrim's face seems to distort in confusion for a splitsecond, which is replaced by a burning anger directed in René's direction. Meanwhile, Madge shouts out towards the thug. "Forget what I said! You are just a simple brute it seems!" and follows after Patrissa, out of the dangerous situation. Killian picks his cane up with two hands and holds it before him like a weapon - but his hands shake and he looks nervous. "Listen to the man! There is no need to main each other. We are in this together!" He seems to be quite intent to remain well covered behind the others, though he moves adjacent to Lixir to observe the battle.

OoC I wouldn't call them my allies any more than Malgrim, and I haven't made a hostile move yet. - at least until I cast the spell And you are correct about the CL part, I've never been an Arcanist before, so I'm still learning the quirks.

OOC I thought about that as well, but you snapped at him (well you snapped at everyone, but that included him) just seconds ago, people are attacking him, and you try to activly break his will. I thinks that's enough to qualify But even if not, substracting 5, he would still have rolled a 15 ^^

Lixir rolls his eyes and shakes his head as he slides his daggers back into their sheathes, seeing no need for himself to get involved in this. "Pull it together people, or slit each other's throats if you must, either way there are more important things to worry about."
