Bar names...
Well, why not we all list the assorted bar/pub/tavern/inn names we've all come up with? Mine so far is this: Broken Ball Tavern Whale Teat Pub The Gnaughty Gnome Dancing Harpy Inn I think I have more, but that's all I can remember for now. Sean

I've only got one, and I use it in every game, pretty much:
The Wyvern's Tail Inn & Tavern

I normally just say "the local pub". I've only named one bar. The Tipsy Dragon Tavern.

Hrm. Tavern names. Yeah, I'm come up with quite a few of those.
The Wailing Ghost Tavern, the Three Headed Monkey tavern and inn, the Pig and Whistle tavern, the Hot Potato, The Green Dragon (which, amusingly enough, was owned and operated by a very friendly in an evil way young adult green dragon), the Half-Dragon Haven (owned by The Green Dragon's rival, a half-silver dragon), Tyr's Right Hand (an 'exotic' tavern), Seraph's Inn of Celestial Delights. Believe or not, I once even had a pub named, 'The Fantastic Turnip'. In a town of farmers, one farmer set out to grow the biggest turnip around. He succeeded, and it became a local legend. It got to the point where a wandering wizard, amused by the story, actually cast a spell on the turnip so that it would remain fresh. Of course, this was in my early days of DMing, and even now I still have no idea how big a normal turnip is. I can't recall if I've seen (or consumed) a real one.

My best so far is, without a doubt, the memorable, "Frisky Virgin."

That's great. Hmmm...how about, "The Puzzled Sphinx" or "The Randy Brandy"? Sean

My personal favorite, and all time favorite watering hole name:
"The Plane of Booze" Course, for years I've always used the Pretarian Tavern & Inn as a main staple for a name.

You guys are lucky I have a group of people for dnd and we all take turns DMing and Playing (this maybe because we are in a boyscout troop and some times we feel the need to kill certain annoying people on a camping trip so we DM) this is fun because we get to experiance everyones cool ideas and writing styles but it leaves me feeling empty because we don't run one continueous campain so there is no real world building and most of them don't like roleplaying so I have to write straight forward quests that have only one path to get them to the end.

I don't really have any memorable pub names to offer up, but I have found a great source for generating pub names. It is a random generator located in the Hackmaster Gamemaster's Guide by Kenzer Co., the creators of Knights of the Dinnertable. It gives a random first and last name when the percentile dice are rolled and there are quite a few hillarious combinations possible.

Well I've mostly just used a chart in the DMG II but for my upcomming Forgotten Realms campaign I've come up with some unique inn names for a few Silverymoon (where the campaign starts):
The Twighlight Slumber The Traveler's Rest Silvanus's Bed (More like a campground in a large park) |
