The Dancing Badger: My staple inn name, in case nothing else comes to mind. Rose's Thorns: Obviously, innkeeper was a retired assassin named Rose. Became a major NPC at one point. |

I havn't named any, but I just thought of several. Most are strange mental images.
The Drunk Monkey Flaming Orc (In an elf kingdom) The Dancing Handbag The Place to Get Drunk Off Your Ass A Couple'a Beds (Withbeds made of awakened wood, and they are a literal couple)

The Inn Between. It came from the Dragonlance book "Soulforge" and was a little, run down, shifty kind of place. The proprietor, having used up all his wit on the name, had the picture on the sign as a squiggly line with an X in the middle.

My absolute favorite:
The Broken Drum - no one can beat it! Not my idea, someone in one of my parties came up with that. Loved it. |

You stole that from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. And you forgot what the name was changed to after the great fire: The Mended Drum (You can be beaten!)

like I said, someone in my party came up with it... they probably stole it from TP books. I didn't know about that, but it is still a great name.

Rob-you-while-you-sleep inn(It's a steal!). From Rich Burlew. I used this, and several other simmilarly named Inn's and taverns such as "Kill you while your Drunk" Tavern, and "The Rat Hole" in a row on my PC's, and they decided to keep searching.(it was a big city) Eventually, they found the "Just a normal place" Inn and casino(that's right, Casino) They got robbed on the slots.

I’ve had a good number of the time I’ve played dnd but my all time favorite will be the "Silver's Rest" inn. an in one of my PCs actually created for a game here on this site, i played it's bartender and developed it quite lovingly i had several pcs employed as barmaids/assassins/information agents. In fact two of my employee's ended up ascending to godhood ... or deamon hood i was never quite sure about the one. in its run it played host to royalty, robbers, gods, and everyone in-between. it was even the location of a tremendous bar fight between the king of whose city the bar was in and a god... i made them pay for the damages of course.
it lives on now along with Tryle the barman as an npced location even now. Another would be the “Meat Inn Place” a bar/restraint run by a young red dragon who for some reason was forced to be non-evil, his stone giant protector, and a third PC who was equal unusual they specialized in BBQs. the people didn't know it was run by these creatures and never seemed to question why the ceiling was so high and everything was made of stone.

The DMGII has a really nifty tavern name generator. I always have to use that. I come up with stupid names like "The Axe Tavern." I'm not at all creative sometimes.
I just found this a little while ago: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/tavern/Welcome.asp Last edited by Snowdog; May 24th, 2006 at 02:27 PM. |

The salty Pirate, or alternatively the Salty <anything> (Goat and Dragon work well.)
The Pissing Bush. |

lol.
Burning Piss The Cheese-Wheel. (A name that I have given this tavern that serves only cheese. Blame the Tavern Generator!)
