Jarek thoughts stop as he listens to the exchange between the two captains and as the conversations continues Jarek notices a slight shift in the hobgoblins stance. The body language of the hobgoblin changes Confidence in self Jarek perceives as he now listens to the words from the individual. At the end Jarek is the first to step forward after the hobgoblin speaks I will stand beside you captain. Jarek moves up to stand behind his new captain whispering as I stated earlier there is strength within you. |

The rain beat down upon the town of Tradepoint and though the wind was strong, the lightning and thunder rumbled farther out to sea. The quick flicker of lightning illuminated the chaos of a few moments ago.
Athiss dashed aboard the Lavernus to seek out Captain Rolo. The very air of Tradepoint was filled with a low mournful cry that quickly climbed in intensity to a numbing roar. The commoners behind Assym shuddered in fear and many of them ran away, back into town. The Governor stood firm and looked about his face painted with worry. “What in hells was that?” he and Assym uttered in tandem not expecting an answer.

Kharbon, aboard the Laevernus
The hobgoblin smiled as the large, brownish-green skinned man stepped forward and announced his wish to join the endevaor. This time, Kharbon felt like he would actually begin to believe the man's words of him possessing strength of a kind.
But just as things were starting to look up, a loud roar carried itself through the air and reached the vessel. Instinctively, Kharbon's hand went to the jacket pocket that held gunpowder, a hardened eggshell and further ingredients, all designed to, at his will, come together in an unstable, explosive weapon for which alchemists were probably the most well-known around the world. But before he mixed the ingredients, he managed to get a hold of himself. Kharbon swallowed loudly and glanced sideways at captain Rolo, whose words had implied recognition at the sound. "W-what...", he shuddered visibly, "...is that?" Last edited by Achard; Nov 6th, 2012 at 12:53 PM. |

Laylah, aboard the Laevernus
There are few things I hate more than slavers. I will certainly help to capture Vexi. As for this unknown entity, perhaps, I am not sure. If that growl that just came from the town is announcing it's presence then I am not sure I have much of a choice but to help this motley crew. Unsure what exactly she has gotten herself into, Laylah prepares mentally for whatever might come next. No one could ever say she was afraid of the unknown. Making Vexi pay sounds like a wondeful plan, however dealing with this mysterious 'thing' might not be so wonderful.

Tenmar rolled his eyes at the group. He had no desire to join this group to go off after pirates in a merchant vessel but figured that going with them for now might be the safest course of action. That is, until some sort of creature showed up in the town. And this Captain Rolo knowing everyone involved, including this new creature, just seemed too coincidental. Still, he deinitely didn't want to be in the town with that thing on the loose and didn't fancy trying to flee the town by foot and run into the creature alone.
"So, we'll be compensated for going ater your pirate friend and compensated for retrieving your hierloom. What reason do we have to go fight your pet monster out there?" Yes, this man wasw the center of far too much and Tenmar didn't want to be the only one who thought that way. He hoped the vehement manner in which he was speaking and the words he chose wouldn't just be dismissed as gruff dwarf speaking. Then again, he didn't have a clue on whether these people were even somewhat intelligent or if there was even a sack of rocks between them all" |

As the lizardman stepped down into the lower decks where Rolo stood with Captain Kharbon and the others, Rolo began speaking with a sigh, “Well, yes…fine choice of words fellow dwarf. See, um, my grandfather’s grandfather was a might salty fellow and he knew a wee bit o’ spells and casting. He...amassed my fortune and birthright, which I will gladly share however; he was not a daft fellow. He brought about a ‘pet’, as you say, to keep safe my tribute.”
Another roar issued out into the stormy night. “Yep, its close.” He searched back through his jacket again, worry painted across his handsome features. “I collected the code to my heirloom and must have disturbed him, her, er’…it. Though I was sure my crew covered everything as Ol’Bean said.” Waving off his current train of thought he regarded the crew before him, “I could increase your share two fold to rid Tradepoint of this ‘pet’?” Rolo looked around at everyone for their affirmations. Outside and came the sound of a horrible crash quickly followed by screaming.

The Kid was already to join the Hobgoblin Captain's ship and go after the Slavers, and was just about to step forward when the first "Howl" came through the ships wooden sides as if the ground it's self was making the noise. He stop because he was not sure what the sound was, if it was the storm playing ticks on him or the earth itself moving in someway. But when this Captain Rolo said “Damn, it’s awake.” under his breath he knew that it was something real and it sounded like the captain knew what.
Darting his eyes around the ship he quickly realized that a ship was probably not the best place to hide from some giant monster. Looking back at the stairs up from the hold and a possible way of escape he is unsure what to do... As the fair maiden and the gray dwarf both spoke up abut joining the crew too, he though that this maybe his best opportunity to both keep moving and maybe learn some of the Captains Magic. So again his confidence was building and he decided to join the crew, besides what other choice did he have.. Then the next roar came through the ship and as Caption Rolo was talking everyone in the ship the roar for what it was, and the captain offered double shares. Double shares, of what Death! As the Kid stood there shaking the crash and screams that followed caused his great distress, and anyone standing near him could smell the hot strong urine poring onto the ships wooden deck....

Attempting to head to Tradepoint Inn
As the others either boarded the ship or decided to go home, Elizabeth made up her mind to return to the inn. It'll give me a chance to look over the paper I had found earlier, as well as get some rest. Still have some studying to do in the morning at the ruined building after all. Pity that the gentleman Rolo hadn't seen me... wonder if he would have any ill feelings toward me after the little stint I pulled by the building?
Turning toward the Tradepoint Inn, the summoner began to walk at a slightly quicker pace than normal. After all, it was wet outside and there was no reason for a young lass to get any more drenched than she was. Walking away from the slowly dispersing group, the woman had gotten about three or four buildings away when the low cry began. Her heart began to race as the sound started to crescendo. With each roar, the woman's footsteps began to slow, till she was hardly moving. Suddenly, the scream issued and it brought the blonde haired female to a halt. Damn, what is out here with me... should I bring Kyra back or not, especially since she is hurt so bad? This is really bad timing too, happening as I am going to retire for the night. Stupid luck! Looking around, the woman tries to see if she is in immediate danger, given her current lack of weapons or armor. -

Tenmar paused as he waited, as if thinking things over. He figured by this point that he would be fighting the creature no matter what. The idea of being compensated for doing a task he was going to have to do was rather appealing, though the sudden scent of urine did bring home that this a was a rather dangerous course of events that he found himself on.
"I suppose double will have to do, though anything you could tell us about your grandfather's 'pet' would be greatly appreciated." As he said this he began to recheck his blades again, it seemed that tonight they would find even more use. He was just wondering if they'd be fighting some spirit-beast summoned from a darker realm or something like a dragon that simply lived a long time. A dragon could bleed, he wasn't so sure about a spirit. |

Laylah, aboard the Laevernus
"Ay, I'll join your sweet little merry band, Captain. It's about time I had the chance to join in some action. My song and my sword will do what they can."

Rolo smiled at the responses from those around that had given them so far and he reached over to clasp Kharbon on the shoulder, but held his hand, thinking better of it as he wasn’t sure how the hobgoblin was going to react to being touched. “Oh of course…my grandfather had a fancy fer’ necromancy, however he enjoyed learning from most o’his travels. Now, that bein said, he created a few companions to keep him company, he tended to stink what-with all the dour tools of his craft. One was what you hear wailing about now; it was tah’ guard the map tah’ his fortune, and my heirloom.” He headed for the stairwell up and nodded to Athiss, who appeared to have some news for the Captain. “Now, family histories aside, the best way to rid Tradepoint o’this golem is to confuse it, unless your strong enough to destroy it, which this group may just be powerful enough; but there is a trick. The creatures sole purpose was to keep the code, er’ map, within its hiding spot. So it will be hunting for that, as I have apparently lost it, we should be able to move about easily until we try and stop it.” Another roar issued forth into the stormy night at the same time a flash of lightning illuminated the decks of the Laevernus.

Looking to the orc he nodded and headed out the hatchway leading to the decks, and the golem.

Jarek follows Rolo through the hatchway and up on the deck. Once on deck Jarek slides his large sword out from its scabbard and waits for his new companions to arrive.

Running for her life toward the harbor
Seeing the large creature now ambling toward her, Elizabeth halfway wished she had taken the time to call Kyra. Oh, this is bad... very bad! Should have thought more towards protection than this. Now I'm going to be forced to rely on help from others as a result. Hoping she was going to be quick enough, the summoner turned and began running toward the harbor. Her footsteps sounded loudly on the stone, occasionally splashing in a few puddles along the way.
