My apologies for being somewhat incommunicado there for a few days. The weekends are usually rough for me, and this weekend was a doozey. I believe I have my character sheet 99% done. I think I missed the +2 bonus for being human. It sounds like it has to go to a single stat, am I right? If that is the case, I might want to re-figure my stats some, if I could. If not, Ill just toss it in one and go from there.. -Dhomal |

Yes. Humans only get +2 to one Stat. You cannot split that up.

Hello-
OK, I got my +2 worked in, and adjusted a couple of stats. In the end, Dex went up by one only, but I was able to raise Str and Con up, which will be good. Only pain in the butt is the Encumbrance! Do you get the clothes you wear for "free" perhaps? That would give me 8 more pounds! Either that or factor in my size-dependent weights by 3/4 maybe due to height? *smiles* -Dhomal |

By chance did you purchase a MW backpack? That effectively increases your carry weight as if you had 1 more strength point. What kind of clothing are you wearing that weighs 8 pounds. That's insane!
Side note: you don't always have to carry everything you own with you. Say you're backpacking. You take your gear with you to the campsite and then you leave it there to explore the surrounding area because your backpack is heavy. Even with all the ultra light stuff its still going to slow you down. Granted you're typically not worried about bandits and the like, but its not like they are everywhere. The human population is actually pretty dismal in the Valley and the only real groupings of people rarely exceed the hundreds. As far as the current ruling on the subject: no, you don't get clothes for "free" with respect to encumbrance. And while Druth is small, he is not in fact "small," or else you would have to factor in the fact that he would lose another 2 Strength for the size modifier. Hello-
Yes, I did buy the MW backpack. Is there a way to reflect the adjustment to strength on tbe character sheet? The explorers outfit is listed as 8 lbs. I may decide to drop that. And yes, I know I am not size small. From what I recall true small size can reduce size-dependant weights by 1/2.... which is why I suggested 3/4. But it was more of a joking request. ------------------ BTW - Thanks for the kudos on my first post! I will need to figure out how to employ that system in tbe othe direction. -Dhomal |

Oh, forgot to add an outfit! Not that it matters because Ben is already encumbered without it but nowhere near the next level of encumbrance. I'll look into which one he'd be wearing.

So! Thought I'd throw this out now: I am new to DMing by pbp though I have played a bit in my time here. If there's ever something wrong with the pacing, either I'm going too fast or too slow, feel free to tell me. If you ever feel left out don't be afraid to bring it up to me (though the effects will likely not be immediate). Probably some other things I wanted to say but forgot.

I don't feel like it's been too slow, probably because the characters have pinged off each other as much as the situation

Yeah, I agree. This is absolutely the norm for a good party of characters at the very beginning of an adventure.

Yeah. I'd almost say that you could have waited for interactions to slow down before posting, since it didn't feel like there was any slowing of chatter. That's just me though, I was looking forward to playing the Strom&Ben game some more

There will be plenty of opportunities! Must balance downtime with story progression! I think it's going smoothly so far.
Oh, by the way, I forgot to declare which mutagen I prepared this morning (it's not an on-use choice). I am putting it in the notes section. While Strength would be more helpful in this situation should these folk turn hostile, he would probably have prepared Dexterity. Strength is more useful in closed quarters for him, Dexterity in open spaces, and when he prepared extracts/mutagens this morning he would not have anticipated being in an enclosed space. As for extracts prepared, I've decided on a system of "/" meaning prepared and "X" meaning used, if that's acceptable. |

Just for future reference, you can reprepare mutagens with time correct? Not that you would really have had the chance to do so in here, but as long as you get the time there's no limit on the number per day I think?

No, if I brew a second one the first becomes inert. There's a feat that lets you brew more, but I don't have it.

On the note of the pacing, no worries here.
I had a reply largely done, and lost it while trying to figure out linking code for the rolls. I will re-type it, and just include a spoiler with the actual roll, and that can get verified on the rolling thread. Sorry, but a lot of what may seem easy and second nature to some, is like translating Greek using only Klingon to me. -D |
