Professions Archive
Hail Fieldsets, they are our Supreme Overlords!
Welcome to the Professions Archive.
Thematic Music:
Book of Spells
Derived from the Source Material, is a set of Skills that were deemed to unimportant to be included into the game of Dungeons & Dragons. However, seeing as how I am the mighty GM, I have decided that, well, I shall include them either way.
This is a list of "Profession" Skills that replace the actual skill "Profession" and the skill "Craft". These skills are NOT to be placed in your Character Sheet, but are to be recorded and kept neatly in this little Archive for the world to see. First, let's do some troubleshooting.
1)
What if "Profession" or "Craft" is a Class Skill?
Then you can pick any other skills as your class skills.
Well, that was easy, I can't think of any other problem we might have with replacing a Skill... If you can think of, please inform me.
Too many Fieldsets? Nonsense!
Now then, let's get to introducing you to these amazing profession Skills, but first, a little clarification...
These skills are not like your normal skills. They are trained differently, and serve a different function.
You see, in the realm of Gielinor, Smithing your own Armor, Fletching your own Bows and Arrows, and Crafting your own Magical Items is a LOT more profitable and savory technique of going about obtaining things. When you level up your profession skills, you will be able to craft items that Markets simply won't have in stock, or even craft items that no one has ever heard of before.
Perhaps you will be the next great blacksmith that will discover the art of crafting the Legendary Dragon Armor, or maybe you will be the Fletcher who discovers how to imbue his arrows with the forces of gods, only time can tell.
Now, these skills' levels are increased by many different ways.
1) As Quest Rewards. Then again, all skills can be increased this way.
2) By doing it! The more you do profession skills, the better you become at them.
3) By wishing it. If you wish upon a star, or ask a Genie really politely, who knows? Maybe he'll just make you better at things.
Now that you know HOW to get your skills up, let's actually see what those skills are...
Fieldsets taste like Spaghetti
Smithing
This is your go-to skill for crafting the finest steel in all of
Skyrim
Gielinor. You can use this skill to craft a wide variety of weapons and armor. The higher your Smithing level, the more powerful the armor and weapons will be, and they will gain Non-Magical Enchantments (EnHANCEments?) which will be very hard to come by when looting corpses or browsing stores.
Fishing
Swing your rod and catch that Fish! Fishing might sound useless, but you'll be surprised what you can catch in the ocean. Hidden Treasure? A 70 Pound fish worth thousands of gold coins? A Size 13 Shoe? An Interesting Skill nonetheless.
Mining
Mining is very important when excavating ancient burial sites, mining through a blockade holding you down, capturing some mysterious ore you've been puzzled by in order to experiment with when Smithing, and more.
Cooking
Cooking? Why would that be useful? Well, you see, shopkeepers always sell Lousy Food. If you can cook something, you can cook it well. Food is an important thing when you're stranded in the wilderness, or when you've been offered to cook at an esteemed hall for a powerful duke or duchess, no?
Farming
Plant a seed and keep it alive. How hard can that be? With farming you can cultivate some powerful herbs which you can use to create useful potions later on. Also, makes a nice break from questing.
Summoning
Arguably one of the most useful skills, Summoning allows you to call forth the might of the extra-terrestrial, the Extra-Planar, and the Extra-Powerful Familiars from other realms. These mighty companions can do a variety of things, like hold your equipment for you, scavenge for goods, or mostly Fight by your side. They also provide an Experience boost during combat.
Slayer
No, not a band. This skill allows you to gain an upper hand against certain creatures. It also allows you to partake in some fun "Slayer Tasks" from some shiny loot or experience rewards.
Crafting
Like smithing, but for things that don't involve metal. Crafting allows you to create Leather or Cloth armor for Archers or Mages respectively, and fletch some fine bows, staves, and wands for use during combat. All which comes with Enhancement bonuses.
Herblore
Allows you to use those herbs you waited so long for to create powerful potions. A very powerful skill that allows you to fashion potions with an added magical bonus. No more being ripped off by local merchants!
Runecrafting
Allows to create this amazing magic-essential items called "runes". Runecrafting is essential to learn for all mages, as Runes are very expensive, and being able to craft them is a lot more useful. Furthermore, you can use all them staves you crafted earlier and imbue them with more magic!
Prayer
The Power of Saradomin Compels you! Prayer allows you to channel the wrath of the gods above to smite your enemies or protect yourself from harm. A Very useful skill for all classes (But mainly, melee ones.) Just make sure you pick a side, gods don't like to be cheated.
