Someone clasped her shoulder--hard. Jalamar pulled her back and whispered in her ear. Well, I was going to... She shook her head slightly. The priest was trying to help, whether or not he knew what she intended. If he thought she was going to give the captain a piece of her mind (as though she had much to spare), it meant that he could see that Fenn deserved it. That wasn't what she had intended, but it could still wait. Captain Fenn needed to reassert control over the old tub. Or rather, Huxley did. Huxley himself was bellowing about sex, maps, boxes, and special ale. Antimony wasn't terribly certain how all that tied together, but she thought she might like some hooch which hadn't been brewed in a scavenged legging. She looked up at him, trying to meet his eyes. She wanted him to know that they two were going to have a chat later on... But Glibnick was a bit more important right now. She grinned at his back as left, thinking about his words. Ox, huh? Meanwhile, the sounds of Cern regaining his feet weren't exactly unnoticeable, since they were almost directly behind her and Jalamar. He's a nervous fellow, isn't he? Of course the thought was ingenuous--they had just gone through one of the wildest rides Antimony wished she had never experienced. Then the skinny, hairy theorist made their little area an even smaller one and made whispers to Cern which Antimony could hear without a whole lot of strain. "If you want to ease the crew," she said smilingly, in a quiet--but not too quiet--womanly voice, "Start by not whispering where you can be seen, and not announcing to all and sundry that the hand of god has moved us a hundred leagues out and a hundred years back." She was exaggerating, of course. The tone she used might carry snippets of her voice over the breeze, but how often did anyone pay much attention to a woman? She patted Cern on the back and found herself the best perch from which to observe this Ox and his duel with Glibnick the Downtrodden.

Kai gives Antimony a quizzical look, not fully comprehending the attitude this girl has towards him "Only stating what is obvious, maybe next time IŽll just tell them the sun went to bed early.... I should bite back my tongue for now, they will find out soon enough." he shakes his head in disappointment, finding there to be a great weakness in the leadership onboard and no one with the guts to face the facts. He turns as the boxing match is about to begin and heads back to the cabin, brows furrowed.

Nelbin moves amongst the sailors, smiling and commending them on their performance through the strange disaster. Anywhere someone had sustained an injury, he looks at it and uses Desna's power to ease their wounds. Luckily, it looked as if all were minor. Their questions he passed off with congenial ignorance, no he did not know what had happened, yes, he had been just as scared, no he had no idea what it had been, couldn't even guess, but everything is okay now, isn't it?
Finishing his work, the little cleric meanders to the bow of the ship and plops himself down to watch the setting sun, and the slow appearance of night's stars. |

As the sun started to set, Wendt servedsome fish stew, ale, and dried fruit- the evening meal. Dert took a well appointed platter to the Captain's Quarters.
"Any Bets?" asked Huxley; most of the crew betting heavily on Ox. Ox started warming up by doing a few streaches, followed by jumping jacks and some push ups. The man seemed fluid on his feet. The blonde priest of Sur stood apart, gazing out at the sea, not really paying any attention to what was going on.

Glibnick
Glibnick comes from below decks wearing just a high quality pair of pants and sturdy books. He looks just as wide as he did before, but now all can see the ripples of muscle that makes up his frame. Those expecting to see flab are astounded. The fighter flips 2 gold coins at Huxley before approaching the area left clear for the boxing match. The dwarf swivels his head on his neck to the accompaniment of loud cracks before grasping his hands behind his neck and pushing them up to the sound of more cracks from his shoulders. Finally he twists his shoulders to the left and the right, the popping of his spine a fine counterpoint. He approaches Ox with a huge grin on his face. "Oy, you be ready for some fun Ox? Tomorrow we can play cards instead, what yeh say?"

Antimony sized up the Ox when the hulking piece of manflesh appeared. He was a sleeker, fattier version of the bulky enforcers who had been imprisoned with her. She looked him over for any hint of some equipment which would give him an unnatural advantage over Glibnick. She was curious about the rest of the crew as well; she hadn't gotten to know but a couple of them by name.

Cern appears on deck, visibly less shaken than previously. Only mildly interested in the prospects of the boxing match, he shouts over to Huxley, paying more heed to the betting and exchange of money going around. "Oi, oi! 10 tails on the ginormous dwarf, ya hear!"
Shouldering his way through the gathering crowd, he makes his way towards Glibnick. Clapping the dwarf on the shoulder, he whispers in the dwarf's ear - a hard feat indeed, simply trying to even balance around that enormous bulk, close enough to be heard. "Good luck on ya, pal. And if all else fails, try to just fall on him, ya hear? That's bound to do something..." Maneuvering his way out, Cern takes his spot on the topside of the deck above the captain's quarters for a better view, waiting for the match to start. |

As the prefight preparations get underway, the crew start to get more and more excited, forgetting the ominous experiences not too long ago. The bets start flying, as both Ox, and Glibnick, are appraised by everyone, as if racing steeds. Some comment on the Dwarf's not too broad frame (well, for a dwarf), while other notice his cunning foot work. Most consider the reach disadvantage to be the deciding factor.
Cern takes his post above the Captain's Quarters. He can hear conversation coming from within, catching bits and pieces...not the course...Kraken...bear's fate..."" It's a full moon and even without any lanterns, the deck would be well lit' Long shadows dance on deck creating a tableau of light and shadow. Nelbin felt satisfied; his help with the wounds of the crew had won him some favor, as many of them acknowledged and even smiled at the little priest. He glanced at the stars; their alignment made the priest shudder, as his thoughts turned to his earlier understandings. Huxley sat down next to the priest, smiling. "Sorry about cutting you off earlier, I know ye'd have the right of it. So tell me priest, what these portends mean?" Jalamar and Zalen sat down on either side of Antimony. "Mmm. so what do your friends call you? Antimony is a bit of a long name you know." said Jalamar, gently nudging the bard with his elbow. Zalen scowled."Jal, should I..." The priest stopped himself gazing off at the waters yet again. Antimony did not notice anything untowards with Ox, other than his beastial physique. Old Pete steps into the impromptu "ring.""Ye two ready? Bare nuckles, first knockdown wins." The crew gives our a loud yell of approval. Ox comes out swinging, throwing quick jabs while moving away from the dwarf, the measured punches miss Glibnick. Just then, Dert comes up from below deck, carrying a tray of food, and heading towards the captain's quarters.

Nelbin smiles and shakes his head slowly, his eyelids closing over his large eyes. The crew had been so brave, he was glad now that their spirits seemed to have lifted, and for the time being, they had entertainment to occupy their attention. Opening his eyes and checking to see if any of the crew are within earshot, Nelbin replies to Huxley, "I fear this may have something to do with what I saw earlier in my dreams. That and these stars... What do you make of these stars, sir? These are not the same stars we were sailing under not a few hours ago. Their position is changed, some of the constellations are altogether foreign to me. No, something has happened, but as has been mentioned, dark portents would do much more harm than good at times such as these."
He sighs. Above the wind ripples the sail with a pleasant sound. One could hardly believe that the mysterious calamity had only ceased a short time before. It never happened, the sea seemed to say, let us get on with the voyage! The sound of cheers makes Nelbin turn towards the crew. Through heavy-lidded eyes, he sees vague shapes moving around each other within the circle of cheering crew members. "This is a good ship, I'm sure she will come out of this alright. If there is anything more I can do for you or the Captain, please do not hesitate to ask." |

As the boxing match begins, Cern pays it only middling attention. He has other worries weighing down upon his mind. Despite physically recovering from that thoroughly terrifying ordeal earlier, his mind still reels from the sheer incredibility of the event. Cern's gaze wanders halfheartedly from the match (Good, it seems that Glib fellow's off to a good start...) and ends up fixing uncomfortably upon the vast seas. The endless blue seems to draw him in as he stares off into the infinite depths. Those beautiful, mysterious depths, able to swallow a ship whole in a single panicked moment.
As he stands there now, alone, half-leaning upon the ship's prow, the words drifting skyward from the captain's cabin window rattle him further. Quote:
Deciding to take action, Cern creeps softly upon the upper deck. Taking a quick glance at the still ongoing match, he makes sure everyone else is preoccupied with the entertainment. Scanning the floor for the distinct cluster of knife markings, he quickly counts aloud, "Right... One, two, three... four," and eyes a nondescript floorboard. Moving over now towards his previous hiding cache (he had since moved all his possessions to someplace more secret. That mischievous Dert!), he pries open the floorboard once more. Looking now at another layer of floorboards, he pulls out a crowbar from his pack. Casting a quick glance over his shoulder, he gently wedges the piece of metal deftly and into a crack in the lower layer of wooden planks. Slowly yet forcefully wiggling the crowbar back and forth, he slowly widens a small hole, slightly larger than a tail-sized coin into the ceiling of the captain's quarters. Lying down now, he tries to spy through the small hole. Unfortunately, the hole's small size prevents Cern from seeing much, and while looking through the spyhole, he can't hear much either. Sighing, he places his ear into the hole, trying to catch whatever he can of the ongoing conversation. "Now what aren't you telling us, dear captain...?" Glibnick
Glibnick dances out of the way of Ox's measuring swings in with a left cross followed by a right jab, neither intended to hit. The dwarf's full attention is on Ox, watching for any weaknesses he can exploit, as well as for any nasty tricks the sailor might have.

The fight was gaining intensity. Ox was nimble for his height, his punches, precise and fluent. He threw two left jabs in succession, followed by a right hook. As Glibnick ducked underneath the punch, he realized his error a bit too late. It was a feint. A left cross smashed into the dwarf’s forehead, snapping his head back…well, Glibnick’s head moved back a little; dwarven neck’s don’t snap back, ever. [4pts damage-non lethal]
Antimony noticed Jalamar grab his side, as if in pain.
