I love hearing all of them. The Ancient Chinese blew my mind, not even close to modern.

The DMs have discussed language and 'Common' in the game, but have not reached a conclusion. But for the stuff I DM, I consider Proto Indo European as the Common tongue for most of the players in the game. It's at the start of Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC0UG-Oq_90.

PIE! (Proto Indo European) Giving me flashbacks to the etymology course I took this spring... was actually quite fun. Might I suggest the American Heritage Dictionary. They face a great section of Indo-European roots.

Ever get the feeling with how a DM ends a post, that something is UP and you're not in on it just yet. Like they've turned your PC sky blue, or you now have horns or something?

Ah, the good old days when we had screens to hide our rolls and empty pizza boxes piled high. Little lead figures, most painted but some not, dotted a hexagon or square embedded map. Off to the side was graph paper and sheets depicting everything about our PCs. The DM cackling in pleasure as he realizes he doesn’t have enough figures for all the Orcs and has to use pennies. Us looking on in horror wondering if this is it for our intrepid PCs.

I remember one session where I, as a player, rolled four straight 2's on my spot roll. Spot is the perception roll for 2nd Edition and 3.5. I remember asking the DM if I saw anything, if anything was sneaking up on us. The DM peered over the screen at my rolls and said, Well, you don't know now, do you?
