Tarbin emerged from one of the bedrooms and slowly made his way down. Along the way he made sure to nod at or greet any of the staff that he passed, he had after all been making an effort to get to know as many of the staff as possible.
When his name was called Tarbin stepped forwards and accepted his pay with a quiet nod. He noted that security was not the highest paying role in the casino but he had still earned gold for a single nights work so it was nothing to turn your nose up at.
Tarbin then watched closely as Ariadne stepped forwards to collect her own pay, he almost frowned at the sigh of the young woman still wearing her skimpy uniform with two money pouches prominently on display. If she went outside like that she would be a large target for a number of depraved individuals and petty thieves let alone the gang that were interested in her boyfriend. Tarbin had perhaps been watching a little to closely as it resulted in a near collision though perhaps that had been for the best as it seemed to serve as an icebreaker.
Tarbin chuckled slightly at the statement. ”That would be me. Tarbin, Tarbin Haldar at your service ma’am” the large man replied politely as he tipped his straw hat which was once again perched atop his head. ”And I took no offence at the fiery little zealot, we all have our own beliefs just some more than others and well some can just be a bit more vocal about it…” Tarbin declared diplomatically with a slight shrug of his large shoulders.
”What about you miss? Are you a follower of the three sisters?” Tarbin enquired as he approached the young woman moving away from the group now that he had been paid.

Vyeggar looked down at Damien and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I think we can work together. I don't know what Tilly's got on you, but if you need any help, you know, besides the chest, well-" And here he grasped the other man's hand and gave it a firm shake. "I hope that's answer enough."
Peace filled Vyeggar's soul for the first time in a great while. He felt Honeydrop run her fingers through his hair gently. "Honeydrop... that's beau..." He never finished the sentence. He was already asleep.
And then, all too quickly, she was gently dislodging his head and standing up. He was immediately alert, thinking he was in danger, before he realized that he was safe and that his sweet consort was leaving.
"Wait a moment? I - that was - I haven't slept that well, that peacefully, in so long. You ... Here." He had run out of words, so instead he simply held out his 38 gpearnings from the evening. "I have not always been a good person to those around me, even those who were trying to help, as my halfling companion has been quick to point out. You showed me real kindness, and... and maybe... maybe I could, I dunno,..." Suddenly bashful, he found his eyes drawn to the ground. "Well, anyway, I want you to have this. Even if you don't want to see me in the daylight, I'll be happy knowing that I was able to help you after you helped me." A pause, then, "I know I'm not much to look at anymore, but... it was nice to feel wanted, even if you were just doing your job." He half-raised his arms like he was going in for a hug, then stopped himself. "Well, anyway, enjoy the rest of your evening." The moment felt like it had passed, and he watched her tossle her hair and leave the room. "Goodnight, Honeydrop," he said quietly after her.
Having been "awoken" by Sandramine for that evening's task, Vyeggar followed the woman down the stairs and into the throng of those who were awaiting their daily payout. The half-orc felt no regrets about doling out the entirety of his winnings to the goblin prostitute. He didn't need the money near as much as she did. There was no chest she could find to free herself from Tilly's bondage - this was her life. She made her living by debasing herself. And she had been kind to him - or she was a good enough actress to pretend to care. It had been enough for him, and meant so much more than just getting his rocks off - not that there was anything wrong with that either. He sighed, which drew a glance from Sandramine upon the stairs.
"Honeydrop was very nice," he told her. Of course, she won't really know what I am referring to, not unless Honeydrop talks, which I don't imagine she will. But even if she does, so what? 'Oh no, I might develop a reputation for being a nice guy!' Perish the thought...
After the payout, Vyeggar got the attention of Liana and Tarbin. He didn't know exactly what they were intending to do to keep Ariadne safe, but he knew three felt like a crowd. Liana's news about bandits intrigued him, however. He looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was observing them and, once he felt they were clear, he whispered, "Bandits sound like fun. Time and place, that's all I need. Who knows, maybe one of them will lead us to Kasturr's nest." He cleared his throat. "Listen, about tonight: it's going to be much easier to explain if we get seen if we're not a threesome - er, trio. I think I'll make my way down her road from the other side. She doesn't really know us personally, but I'm sure she's seen us about in the casino, and she'll have a harder time buying our bull about not watching her if it just looks like you two are out on a date."Besides, I could use a break from this place and the people in it for a while. A nice walk might be the perfect thing to clear my head.
Standard Action:Rolls. Since bluff and diplomacy are garbage, anyone who asks where Vyeggar is going are going to get a snappy response about taking an evening stroll, courtesy of Intimidate (21). Which is good because his Stealth is crap (5). Perception of 17 to spot her or any dangers nearby. Do I know her street well enough that I'd need to roll for it? Would that be Local or Geography?

Whenever you are engaged in combat and there are dying or helpless foes within 30 feet, you take a -2 penalty on attack rolls against foes who are neither dying nor helpless. Cruelty Class Features:Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A brawler is proficient with all simple weapons plus the handaxe, short sword, and weapons from the close fighter weapon group. She is proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields).Weapon and Armor Proficiency | Brawler's Cunning (Ex): If the brawler's Intelligence score is less than 13, it counts as 13 for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of combat feats.Brawler’s Cunning | Martial Flexibility (Ex): A brawler can take a move action to gain the benefit of a combat feat she doesn't possess. This effect lasts for 1 minute. The brawler must meet all the feat's prerequisites. She may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + 1/2 her brawler level (minimum 1).
The brawler can use this ability again before the duration expires in order to replace the previous combat feat with another choice.
If a combat feat has a daily use limitation (such as Stunning Fist), any uses of that combat feat while using this ability count toward that feat's daily limit.
At 6th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of two combat feats at the same time. She may select one feat as a swift action or two feats as a move action. She may use one of these feats to meet a prerequisite of the second feat; doing so means that she cannot replace a feat currently fulfilling another's prerequisite without also replacing those feats that require it. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.
At 10th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of three combat feats at the same time. She may select one feat as a free action, two feats as a swift action, or three feats as a move action. She may use one of the feats to meet a prerequisite of the second and third feats, and use the second feat to meet a prerequisite of the third feat. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.
At 12th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of one combat feat as an immediate action or three combat feats as a swift action. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.
At 20th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of any number of combat feats as a swift action. Each feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.Martial Flexibility | Martial Training (Ex): At 1st level, a brawler counts her total brawler levels as both fighter levels and monk levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats. She also counts as both a fighter and a monk for feats and magic items that have different effects based on whether the character has levels in those classes (such as Stunning Fist and a monk's robe). This ability does not automatically grant feats normally granted to fighters and monks based on class level, namely Stunning Fist.Martial Training | Unarmed Strike: At 1st level, a brawler gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A brawler may attack with fists, elbows, knees, and feet. This means that a brawler may make unarmed strikes with her hands full. A brawler applies her full Strength modifier (not half) on damage rolls for all her unarmed strikes.Unarmed Strike Feats:Deft Maneuvers: (from EITR) You do not provoke an attack of opportunity when performing a trip, disarm, dirty trick, feint, reposition, or steal combat maneuver. In addition, you receive a +2 bonus on checks with these combat maneuvers. Now a prerequisite for the relevant greater combat maneuver feats.Deft Maneuvers | Improved Unarmed Strike (class): You are considered to be armed even when unarmed - you do not provoke attacks of opportunity when you attack foes while unarmed. After his encounter with his pleasantly surprising visitor Grim managed to catch a very short nap before it was time for him to leave and meet Damien for their scouting trip to Burnett Mews South. He perhaps shouldn't have slept at all, the short break had left him feeling more exhausted than he already felt but hopefully the clear night air would help wake him up, either that or a fall from the window. Grim grumbled to himself as he scrambled up to the window and made his way down the side, cursing long-limbed elves and their inconsiderate nature for those born with shorter limbs and heavier frames.
Luckily Grim had been born and raised aboard a mighty sailing ship and was no stranger to climbing the rigging and masts in his time so he made it down the uneven walls of the Dead Mermaid without incident, although it was by no means a graceful climb. He fortunately didn't witness Damien's own escape or he would likely be even more annoyed with tall graceful people, he would however make good use of his companions height and stride as he followed in the wake the man made as they navigated the streets to Burnett Mews. The Vishkanya seemed to know where he was going and guided them through the streets like a native but unfortunately once they arrived and looked around the collection of buildings, noting that each one seemed to hold multiple residences that native knowledge proved unhelpful in locating which building and apartment they should be watching as neither of them knew which belonged to Ariadne.
Taking note of the guardsmen and the family, Grim quickly moved towards one of the small alleyways and propped himself up against the wall out of their path. any other time and he would likely offer the family aid, as he would the goblin clearly struggling with the pack but today their goal was to be unnoticed and he didn't want to get drawn into interacting with the residents and drawing attention.
Motioning Damien to join him, Grim told the man his plan in a quiet voice "keep an eye out for trouble, I am going to attempt to find out which apartment belongs to Ariadne. I will try to commune with the whispering spirits of the stones"
That was all Grim said as he slide down the wall into a seated position and closed his eyes, as if he expected Damien to know what he was going to do, everyone knew about the whispering spirits of course. his short but nimble fingers danced in smooth circling patterns as he whispered mumbled phrases in an unknown language, tapping into his magic and calling to the spirits in the street for answers, opening his senses to the psychic impressions and remnants infused into the buildings and the grove from countless residents and incidents throughout the years which inhabited the neighbourhood. He attempted to absorb that knowledge and guide the whispers into telling him where the young dark haired Ariadne rested her head

She can cast any spell she knows without preparing it ahead of time. To learn or cast a spell, a sorcerer must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a sorcerer's spell is 10 + the spell level + the sorcerer's Charisma modifier
Like other spellcasters, a sorcerer can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Sorcerer. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Charisma score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells).
A sorcerer's selection of spells is extremely limited. A sorcerer begins play knowing four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of her choice. At each new sorcerer level, she gains one or more new spells, as indicated on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a sorcerer knows is not affected by her Charisma score; the numbers on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known are fixed.) These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of through study
Upon reaching 4th level, and at every even-numbered sorcerer level after that (6th, 8th, and so on), a sorcerer can choose to learn a new spell in place of one she already knows. In effect, the sorcerer loses the old spell in exchange for the new one. The new spell's level must be the same as that of the spell being exchanged. A sorcerer may swap only a single spell at any given level, and must choose whether or not to swap the spell at the same time that she gains new spells known for the level.
Unlike a wizard or a cleric, a sorcerer need not prepare her spells in advance. She can cast any spell she knows at any time, assuming she has not yet used up her spells per day for that spell level.Spellcasting | Each sorcerer has a source of magic somewhere in her heritage that grants her spells, bonus feats, an additional class skill, and other special abilities. This source can represent a blood relation or an extreme event involving a creature somewhere in the family's past. For example, a sorcerer might have a dragon as a distant relative or her grandfather might have signed a terrible contract with a devil. Regardless of the source, this influence manifests in a number of ways as the sorcerer gains levels. A sorcerer must pick one bloodline upon taking her first level of sorcerer. Once made, this choice cannot be changed.
At 3rd level, and every two levels thereafter, a sorcerer learns an additional spell, derived from her bloodline. These spells are in addition to the number of spells given on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known. These spells cannot be exchanged for different spells at higher levels.
At 7th level, and every six levels thereafter, a sorcerer receives one bonus feat, chosen from a list specific to each bloodline. The sorcerer must meet the prerequisites for these bonus feats.Bloodline | Sorcerers learn a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, as noted on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known under “Spells Known.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they do not consume any slots and may be used again.Cantrips | You can cast many spells without needing to utilize minor material components.
Benefit: You can cast any spell with a material component costing 1 gp or less without needing that component. The casting of the spell still provokes attacks of opportunity as normal. If the spell requires a material component that costs more than 1 gp, you must have the material component on hand to cast the spell, as normal.Eschew Materials | | A mongrel mage is a sorcerer whose bloodline is so weak, or mixed with so many others, that her power isn’t clearly associated with any bloodline source. A mongrel mage’s bloodline powers can change on a daily basis, but always fall short of those of a full-blooded sorcerer’s powers. A mongrel mage is a dabbler in all bloodlines but a master of none, and she is looked down upon by true sorcerersMongrel Mage | At 1st level, a mongrel mage has an innate pool of magical energy, known as her mongrel reservoir, that she can draw upon to activate her weakened bloodline. Her mongrel reservoir can hold an amount of magical energy equal to 3 + her sorcerer level. Each day when refreshing her spell slots, her mongrel reservoir is restored to full. The mongrel reservoir can never hold more points that the total mentioned above; points gained in excess of this maximum are lost.
Each day when she refreshes her spell slots, the mongrel mage selects one sorcerer bloodline. She must select an ordinary bloodline with this ability, not one altered by the wildblooded archetype or any other archetype. She gains this bloodline’s 1st-level bloodline power for that day, using it as if she were only a 1st-level sorcerer. (If this ability is used to gain an arcane bond and the bonded item is selected, she can use the item only to cast a 1st-level spell known, as she counts as only a 1st-level sorcerer.) A mongrel mage can have only one bloodline selected at a time.
As a swift action, she can expend 1 point from her mongrel reservoir to activate that bloodline, allowing her to use its 1st-level bloodline powers as well as its bloodline arcana at her full sorcerer level, including using a bonded item from an arcane bond. This lasts for a number of rounds equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 1)Mongrel Reservoir (4) Current Chosen Bloodline & Ability:6 / 7 rounds)"]At 1st level, you can cloak yourself in illusory magic as a standard action, making you invisible (as per invisibility) for a number of rounds per day equal to your sorcerer level + your Charisma bonus (if any).

Gnomes with this racial trait add +1 to the DC of spells they cast with the language-dependent descriptor or those that create glyphs, symbols, or other magical writings. They gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against such spells. Gnomes with Charisma scores of 11 or higher also gain the following spell-like abilities: 1/day—arcane mark, comprehend languages, message, read magic. The caster level for these effects is equal to the user's character level. The DC for the spell-like abilities is equal to 10 + the spell's level + the user's Charisma modifier. These spells are treated as being from a fey source for the purposes of the druid's resist nature's lure class feature and similar abilities.Fey Magic - Urban | Gnomes with this racial trait are skilled at imitating sounds and voices. Doing so requires a Bluff check opposed by the listener’s Sense Motive check, and the gnome gains a +4 racial bonus on Bluff checks to mimic sounds (including accents and speech patterns) she has listened to for at least 10 minutes. Listeners unfamiliar with a particular sound take a –4 penalty on the Sense Motive check.Sound Mimicry Character Traits:For unknown reasons, you have deeper reserves of magical energy than those around you. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Linguistics checks, know one additional bonus language, and treat Linguistics as a class skill.Etymologist |A harrowing experience with insects when you were young instilled in you a deep-seated fear of vermin of all description, especially when they swarm together. Prestidigitations are minor tricks that novice spellcasters use for practice.
Once cast, a prestidigitation spell enables you to perform simple magical effects for 1 hour.
The effects are minor and have severe limitations.
A prestidigitation can slowly lift 1 pound of material.
It can color, clean, or soil items in a 1-foot cube each round.
It can chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material.
It cannot deal damage or affect the concentration of spellcasters.
Prestidigitation can create small objects, but they look crude and artificial.
The materials created by a prestidigitation spell are extremely fragile, and they cannot be used as tools, weapons, or spell components.
Finally, prestidigitation lacks the power to duplicate any other spell effects.
Any actual change to an object (beyond just moving, cleaning, or soiling it) persists only 1 hour.Prestidigitation | Casting Time: 10 Minutes

Dressing rather quickly after his "visitor" made her exit, Damien's mind buzzed with a mix of thoughts and theories... and emotions. He was frustrated... but not discouraged. If anything, the conversation had left him even more driven than before to rise to a station more suitable for his talents. What he would do to get there, where it would take him next, and who exactly he'd have at his side when the time came... that, the man still needed to figure out.
But not tonight. Tonight, he had work to do. Navigating his way carefully and quietly down the side of the building, Damien met Grim out in the street, and together the two made for Burnett Mews South. The journey there went smoothly enough in spite of the crowds, with Damien familiar enough with the area to navigate. He had to admit that the neighborhood they were traveling TO on the other hand was less familiar to him, and as the citizens thinned out on their final approach, Damien was becoming more cognizant of one rather distinct disadvantage he faced in doing this recon: he stuck out. Vishkanya weren't exactly common in the city to begin with, particularly ones as well-dressed as him. That wasn't such a big deal in the more populated areas, but in a small, quiet corner of town like this, it might very well work against him.
Luckily, Grim had something more subtle in mind than interacting with the locals, and the vishkanya was doubly glad for having enlisted the gnome's help in this. He admittedly had a very sparse idea of what "communing with the whispering spirits of the stones" was supposed to do, but if it helped the pair hone in on which of the buildings they should be most focused on, Damien was happy to keep watch in the interim.
"Just be quick about it Grim... honestly, I think the less we're seen together while we're out here, the better."
Posting up against the wall outside of the alley, Damien kept a calm vigil over the street as he waited for the results of Grim's ritual.
Damien will keep watch while Grim tries to suss out the right building (keep a particularly close eye on the guard who seems to be approaching them)
With his spell complete, the voices began, soft whispers growing loud and more numerous as they echoed in his ears and he tried to focus his attention on separating the useful from the mundane and trivial. One voice was louder than the others.
"Just be quick about it Grim... honestly, I think the less we're seen together while we're out here, the better."
Luckily his new companion had chosen to wait until his spell was complete so it didn't interrupt the casting and with the euphoric hum of magic once more running through his body, Grim was feeling playful, whispering Prestidigitation effectsmore magics before he opened his eyes to look at his friend. when the Gnome's eyelids opened his eyes were pure white orbs with no Iris or pupil, as his lips parted a soft blue wisp of smoke floated out as he spoke, his voice sounding much much older and with an echo overlapping, as if two voices were speaking at once from the same mouth
"All things in their time Mr Buranta, The mysteries of the hidden worlds will reveal themselves to those with the patience to stop and listen"
Reaching out a hand, Grim sweep his palm across the street slowly as his echoing voice whispered and mumbled, sometimes raising louder
"No, you weird goblin, I'm not use my apartment to... oh... that's a lot of gold..."
"And you're sure he doesn't have it? Ok, we'll just have to stake it out. I know him, he'll come through."
"For the last time, we did not order a giant trampoline!" "You know, pal, you coulda told me that before I set it up.
"Ok, Ariadne, make sure you bring it after work. I'm counting on you."
With a long exhalation, a plume of blue mist escaped Grim's mouth as his white eyes faded and his pupils returned, his voice returning to normal as his outstretched hand curled to point to the Middle building. "That one there, she lives on the ground floor but i can't narrow it down more than that. I suspect she is carrying the missing item on her person right now"

This lasts for a number of rounds equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 1)Mongrel Reservoir (4) Current Chosen Bloodline & Ability:6 / 7 rounds)"]At 1st level, you can cloak yourself in illusory magic as a standard action, making you invisible (as per invisibility) for a number of rounds per day equal to your sorcerer level + your Charisma bonus (if any).

... and waited. But not forever. Eventually, they heard a ruckus from the other side of the road. It sounded like a party of drinkers at first, but then the group crested around the corner. At first, it was five goblins. The booze they had consumed was heavy enough that their words smelled of rum and wine. They were singing, jeering, cackling to unheard in-jokes. But it was clear that they were no mere drunks - their clothes were leather.
"Quiet, you fools!"
They all winced for a moment before the owner of the voice stepped around the corner. He did not seem the type to associate with goblins in Julianople. He clearly belonged in a villa. An elf boy, fined dressed in a short toga made to impress rich girls who liked danger. He was tall, young, beautiful and athletic, tending to his short red hair with one hand and with the other idly playing with the clasp of the pouch that hung from his waist. The most distinguishing feature about him was a tattoo on his cheek - a curved fang with a crack running from base to tip, blood dripping from the end.
The goblins took his order as an excuse to break out into squabbles. "Yeah, idiot, quiet!""Don't shout when telling people to be quiet, stupid!""Who you callin' stupid?!"
"I said quiet!" the elf hissed, and the goblins stopped their chattering. He rolled his eyes. "At least Gluk and Muggo know to keep their mouths shut. Ok, everyone, we know the plan. In less than an hour, we all get paid."
The goblins immediately started cheering, until the annoyed look from the elf hit them and they silenced themselves awkwardly. One spoke up. "Sure thing, Dami-"
Now the elf shouted. "That's not my name! It's Big Fox, remember?! That's my name now!"
"Yes, Big Fox!" they cheered, and they began to pile towards the middle building, the one Grim had pointed out. But as they did...
"Sliggitz, wait." The crowd of goblins moved on, but one stayed. The only one who, up to now, had been dead quiet, a mop of black hair obscuring his head almost entirely save his nose and ears. Even with this comical sight, his nerves were palpable. The elf, 'Big Fox', gestured for him to walk closer. "Your human girlfriend... you sure it's safe with her?"
"Y-yes, Big Fox," he whimpered. "She'll bring it. She's cool. We're all cool."
"Good..." Big Fox sneered, opening his leather pouch. From it, he drew... some sort of weapon, like a really small crossbow but with a tube instead of an actual bow. He used the tube-end to brush the goblin's hair aside, revealing two rattling, terrified eyes. "This is the best chance I have to earn the respect of the Bigs. Then they'll have to treat me like an equal, and you all get the big dirty. But if you or your girlfriend ruin this for me... kapow!"
Sliggitz's fists tightened in terror. "O-o-o-o-of course, Dam-I mean, Big Fox," he said with chattering teeth, before he led the elf into the middle building.

Ariadne gave a weak smile to Tarbin as he approached, seeming less tense near him than she did Sandraminae. "I am, actually. Not many from the west side do, but... well... the Sister answered me when none of the other Heavenly Masters did. They earned my worship, I suppose you'd say," she explained. She began to knead her hands together anxiously. "I've had some experience with people telling me what of my beliefs are right and wrong, so I just wanted to apologise for not standing up for you." She bowed her head respectfully. "Otama's harvest ends soon, so I hope that Monsuna is as kind to you as your patron."
She began to walk away, though immediately Edward Fletcher, the carpenter and surgeon, immediately stopped her. "Are you still living with Sliggitz?"
Ariadne rolled her eyes. "Fletch, don't. I know you don't like him, but he's sweet."
There was a hushed remark between Rozitto and Sandraminae. Rozitto couldn't be heard, but the reply could just be heard. "Oh, that was ages ago. But, yeah, he didn't know how to use it but..." There was a hand gesture appropriate for measuring the size of fish, and both Rozitto and Sandraminae giggled conspiratorially.
Edward, meanwhile, raised his hands defensively. "Didn't say anything about him! It's just... well, he's never here to pick you up, is he?"
"And I don't need him to," she grunted, marching past him, past everyone, straight to the door.
She stopped.
There was an awkward moment where she fumbled with her cloak. She put her hand against one of her coinpurses, and her brow knotted in thought. Her other hand drifted to the handles of her knives - they were made of wood to a general shape, only a bit better at protecting her than a meat cleaver who be. There was a flicker of conflict across her face, a barrage of mental slings and arrows, before she looked back to Tarbin. Her cheeks became dark and red as she walked back over to him.
"Forgive me, Mister Halder. But would you mind if you escorted me back to my home street? It isn't far, but this late and on this night, I don't want to risk anything."

Tarbin agreed to walk back with Ariadne, as it was the plan. She was quite good conversation, mostly talking about the change of the seasons. An important time for all worshippers of the Three Sisters, when the duties of one sister keeping the Slumbering One asleep passed to another. But she always seemed a little distant and distracted.
"Thank you, Mister Halder. It was very generous of you to walk me home. You should getting back now, I imagine?" she asked suddenly, stopping dead. She looked at him expectedly, becoming rigid and awkward.
Liana was vaguely aware that her comrades were having a variety of their own side conversations, but this group thrown together by coercion and rushing hither and yon with diverse agendas was more than she could keep track of. And she had a backlog of what, three, four missions to pursue ... people to protect ... vengeance to achieve. One thing at a time.
Liana's intent was to follow, at a fair bit of distance as to not attract attention. Were the lady or Tarbin to come under assault, she would prefer to have the drop on and counter-ambush whoever assails them. If in the process she remained near any of her allies, that was a bonus.
As a small halfling, she was naturally stealthy. Dim light and darkness was her natural element. She accomplished her tasks of staying zealously stealthy and alert with expertise and steady focus.
Where is the threat? Where is the risk to Ariadne? she thought, scanning everyone and every shadow with suspicion. She tried as well to register the positions of her allies.
Her feet moved softly over the rugged cobblestones, and she made no more sound that the soft night breeze. Yet she could not help but feel a constant level of anxiety. She was out to protect a young woman, but the city was hardly safe for herself. What an irony if she fell prey to some predator of the night while she was trying to guard someone else against such a fate? She kept at that back of her mind a constant readiness to drop into the stance of piercing rays. Having a magical knack at her ready was at least some comfort.
Assuming and including dimdweller trait bonus of +2.
”Didn’t know you needed help,” Vyeggar responded defensively to the raging one-eye’d woman who accosted him as he tried to leave the casino. She could have been covered in blood and he wouldn’t have batten an eye, but the brush in her hand indicated that the liquid she was smeared with was much less sinister. ”I’d have helped if I’d been awake.” He shrugged. ”Sadly, clairvoyance was not something I was blessed with – instead I just got these rock hard pecs.” He thrust out his chest and made his muscles dance from side to side, grinning with what teeth he had. ”I was just going to take a walk, clear my head. I don’t mind, though, if you’ve got more dirty work for me. We can’t all be front-line performers like the sweet Liana.” A pause, then, ”Not that there’s anything wrong with what she does – I mean, she’s gorgeous, and I’m… well, you know what those goons did to my face. Only way a woman’d want to be with me is with the lights out.”
His eyes went steely as she idly brought up his brother. Did she know how he’d manipulated Sandramine into revealing what she knew about Valdik? She must have, but if she didn’t, he certainly wasn’t going to bring it up. Yet he couldn’t help but feel buoyed slightly by what she’d said. She hadn’t come right out and said it, but the fact that she was even remotely aware of him and his concern was… comforting. He could see now why Sandramine valued Tilly’s leadership. ”Thanks. I’ll, uh, I’ll keep out of trouble until you… until you ask them.” Her thin veneer of concern was new to him, and the shell of hostility he had used to keep the rest of the casino folk at bay had already begun to split asunder earlier that evening. These were not his enemies – at least, there was nothing immediate to indicate he should treat them as such. Maybe Sandramine was right… maybe he could find a place here. Maybe.
Not knowing what else to say to Tilly, he pushed the door open and stepped out into the cooling air of early evening. The sky had gone indigo en route to full dark and was pinpricked by glowing white stars. Vyeggar looked up and sighed. You’re out there somewhere, little bro, and I’m going to find you and bring you home safe. And if anyone has hurt you, I will rip their f**king arms out of their sockets and beat them to death with them. The thought seemed to give him a strange measure of comfort, and he carried that feeling with him as he stepped onto the opposite end of Burnett Mews South.
Vyeggar had said he would help, and here he was, helping… and Ariadne was nowhere to be seen. He knew that Damian and Grim had set off earlier to stakeout a spot to watch from, and he

kept an eye out for them as well. As far as he understood the mission, it was to discreetly keep the girl safe. He had seen Tarbin talking to her back at the casino and wondered if the farmer had a fundamental misunderstanding of what discreet meant. Still, if she ended up cottoning to the little sodbuster and let him walk with her, that’d seem to work as well, right? After all, they just needed to get her home safely? He realized he should have paid more attention, but this whole “giving a damn about other people’s problems” thing was foreign to him. He’d get there, probably. Maybe.
Along the way he passed a few whores and one strange bird who was talking to a rock in her hand. Takes all kinds, he thought amusedly. His irritation was starting to grow, however. Where were Grim and Damien? Where was the damn house? Where was the damn girl? A part of him was growing restless as being out here by his lonesome, especially after how he’d been beaten by the guards. Not that his other four companions had put up much of a fight in his defense, but at least it had brought him a small, so very small, measure of comfort to not be alone when he was beaten unconscious. Out here there would be no one to be on his side. He hurried on, walking swiftly but not running, acting casually but not trying to hide, and hoping that he would see one of his other companions along the nearly deserted street.

Damien watched the guard as he passed, his gaze following the disgruntled man's retreating back as he grumbled about goblins. Once he was a good distance away, the vishkanya exhaled slightly, turning back toward his companion. Grim had told him to be patient... never the most appealing thing to hear, but something he was exceptional at when the moment called for it. And it wasn't as though Damien had much else to do until they got some more concrete answers anyway. Deferring to the gnome's expertise, Damien slunk a little deeper into the shadows and waited, occasionally breaking from his surveillance over the street to watch Grim at work with mild curiosity. Personally, Damien had never found much comfort or benefit to spirituality; he preferred to rely on himself than the shadowy blessings or gifts of otherworldly beings. Still, he saw its usefulness in those who practiced it, and he hoped that, whatever spirits Grim was communing with, they had some useful intel to share.
He wasn't disappointed either, as Grim came out of his trance with not only the correct building, but a valuable piece of unexpected news on the location of the precious object.
"Almost makes sense... boyfriend probably figured it was safer to leave the thing with someone he could trust instead of carrying it on him. That might work if he was discrete or he could handle himself... but the fact that we're out here in the first place is evidence that neither is true." The vishkanya shook his head, fixing his sights on the middle building.
Before long, the stake out bore even greater fruit in the form of the very people Damien had been hoping to catch sight of; the would be attackers. He was a little surprised to find them so... cavalier. Clearly, they didn't expect difficulties on this snatch and grab. And it was no wonder, as one of the goblins was revealed to be... sure enough, the spineless boyfriend himself.
"Looks like your spirits were right on the money Grim." Damien muttered from their hiding spot. "Gave it to her for safekeeping... but the little coward sang like a canary." As the belligerent goblins continued on toward the building, Sliggitz and "Big Fox", Dami-something apparently, stayed behind for a brief exchange; a threatening reminder of why the plan needed to go well. Big Fox sounded desperate to prove himself to these "Bigs"... and Damien couldn't help but wonder if his current status had anything to do with this poor excuse for a goon squad the elf was using. Was it the best he could afford to wrangle up for such an important job? Or did he simply like feeling like the biggest and most intimidating one in a room? He matched the type for sure.
But there was something else that grabbed Damien's attention too; the odd little weapon. He'd never seen anything quite like it before, but judging by the way it was making Sliggitz shake in his little goblin boots, it was probably better not to underestimate it. As the two followed the others toward the building, Damien straightened up, brushing his shoulder as he moved back up toward the entrance to the alley.
"Don't suppose you're any good at pickpocketing, are you Grim?" Damien looked on after the elf. "... never mind. Anyway, I'm going to follow them and see what else I can learn. You should keep watch for the others... let them know what we know. Big Fox clearly isn't expecting interference... hiding out inside her place is probably the biggest favor he could have done for us. Now we can use their ambush to trap them instead." Preparing to depart, he gave the gnome one last glance. "Thoughts, my friend?"
Standing from his trance, Grim twisted and stretched out his back from even the brief rest against the cold cobblestones and brick, listening to his companion as he voices his thoughts aloud, agreeing with Grims information that it was likely the girl Ariadne was carrying the item. If only they had some way of telling the others what they had discovered they could relieve the girl of the item long before she reached her home and the ambushing waiting to happen.
They of course were only guessing that is what was planned but with the arrival of a loud group of Goblins, including the girls supposed boyfriend and surprisingly an elfboy it seems that their guess was an accurate one as the group heading into the building to await the girls arrival. The whisper-shouted conversation carried over to Grim and Damien, the words adding more to the story of Ariadne but not really revealing more than what they already know.
The boyfriend has given the item to Ariadne for safe keeping and some local gang wannabe calling himself Big Fox wanted it to impress the "Bigs" whoever they were, Grim had no clue at all, though whoever they were he found their choice of name both amusing and offensive. What worried him the most though was the weapon in the Elf's hand, he had seen its like before on his travels and its appearance here in Julianople was worrying. It also revealed a curious contradiction about the Elf.
If his appearance didn't let anyone looking know he came from wealth then the item in his hand surely would. Grim had not seen any but Nobility wield such an item but if this elf was indeed a Noble why was he consorting with Goblins to steal something to impress a local gang of thugs? When Damien mentioned his intentions and asked for his thoughts and his talents for picking pockets, Grim told him exactly that
"Be very careful my friend, something is not right about all this. That weapon the elf is carrying is a Flintlock, sometimes called a Dragonfire pistol. It is exceedingly rare and very dangerous. It is also an extortionately expensive weapon to be carrying in places like this. If the Elf has the coin for something like that i can't imagine what he has the need of Sliggitz and these "Bigs" for. Its a concern."
"Hmmm so relieve the girl of the item before she gets into the building? yes that could work but it wont be easy. If it were anyone else asking my friend i could get offended there but yes i have some experience with lightening pockets, purely for amusement purposes of course you understand?" Grim added with a big grin which was so obviously fake it was laughable.
"If i were being honest i would say i am proficient but i'm no expert, especially if i don't know where on her person she is carrying it. Hell we don't even know what "it" is do we?. Perhaps we might be better suited to letting this Elf get his hands on the item and keep watching. he seems the type vain enough to show it off so we will know what it is and can retrieve it later?"
"At least if you follow this Big Fox we can narrow down which room is Ariadne's and keep her safe. that was our assignment wasn't it? i don't recall Sandraminae asking us to retrieve this item, well i know she didn't ask it of me but there was some whispering going on between her and Vyeggar so perhaps he has a different assignment. I will stay here and keep an eye out for them coming and if the opportunity arises i may be able to acquire the item before the girl makes it inside"
"When they get closer i can at least let the others know the girl is carrying the item if they haven't figure that out themselves already"

If the character has a Charisma score of 11 or higher, when in the selected terrain, she gains these spells as spell-like abilities that can be cast once per day. Perhaps you are descended from a family of powerful arcane casters, or maybe you believe this trait marks you as destined for magical greatness. Wherever the truth lies, you gain an additional use of one of your gnome magic spell-like abilities each day. This does not always have to be the same spell-like ability—one day you might use dancing lights twice, only to use the additional casting for speak with animals the next day.Naturally Gifted |When you, like all other young gnomes, were taught the hodgepodge Gnome language, you became curious about the original meaning of each word and what language it was derived from. Anytime you come across a new language, you are immediately absorbed by both how it works and what words you can co-opt from it for the Gnome language. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Linguistics checks, know one additional bonus language, and treat Linguistics as a class skill.Etymologist |A harrowing experience with insects when you were young instilled in you a deep-seated fear of vermin of all description, especially when they swarm together. You take a –2 penalty on attacks against vermin, and you take a –2 penalty on saving throws against the nauseated condition of a swarm’s distraction ability.Entomophobe Background:You have sailed the seas your whole life. Sometimes as a merchant. Sometimes as a corsair. Of course, with the number of coasts you have been on, you have caught many a disease, and are now very hardy.
You actually came to Julianople to meet a physician who wanted to study you, but then they never showed up at the meeting spot.
In a new land with no currency, you sniffed out a job with plenty of gold to be made.
Benefit: Choose two out of Climb, Swim, Heal or Appraise. You gain +1 to these, and these are class skills.
In addition, all DCs for saving throws vs Diseases are halvedSea-dog

Magic items can be repaired by this spell, but you must have a caster level equal to or higher than that of the object.
Magic items that are destroyed (at 0 hit points or less) can be repaired with this spell, but this spell does not restore their magic abilities.

This spell imbues a quill with animate energy and rapidly transcribes words from one page to another.
The quill copies a written work at the rate of one normal-sized page per minute.
The Linguistics skill can be used to make a convincing copy, but otherwise the reproduction is written in the hand of the caster.
You must concentrate upon the material being duplicated for the spell's duration and provide new blank pages as required.
The scrivener's chant requires blank paper and a quill or other writing materials, in addition to the material components.
This spell cannot duplicate magical writing (including spells and magical scrolls), though it can duplicate non-magical writing from a magical source.Scrivener's Chant | Casting Time: 1 Standard action

Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first.
HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted.
Sleeping creatures are helpless.
Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not.

Magical Linguistics Spells Daily Usage - Once per Day Each Cantrips:Casting Time: 1 Standard action
Range/Area: Touch
Effect: One personal rune or mark, all of which must fit within 1sq.ft
Components: V,S
Duration: Permanent
This spell allows you to inscribe your personal rune or mark, which can consist of no more than six characters.
The writing can be visible or invisible.
An arcane mark spell enables you to etch the rune upon any substance without harm to the material upon which it is placed.
If an invisible mark is made, a detect magic spell causes it to glow and be visible, though not necessarily understandable.
See invisibility, true seeing, a gem of seeing, or a robe of eyes likewise allows the user to see an invisible arcane mark.
A read magic spell reveals the words, if any. The mark cannot be dispelled, but it can be removed by the caster or by an erase spell.
If an arcane mark is placed on a living being, the effect gradually fades in about a month.
Arcane mark must be cast on an object prior to casting instant summons on the same object (see that spell description for details).Arcane Mark |Casting Time: 1 standard action

You can whisper messages and receive whispered replies.
Those nearby can hear these messages with a DC 25 Perception check.
You point your finger at each creature you want to receive the message.
When you whisper, the whispered message is audible to all targeted creatures within range.
Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal (or a thin sheet of lead), or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks the spell.
The message does not have to travel in a straight line. It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path's entire length lies within the spell's range.
The creatures that receive the message can whisper a reply that you hear.
The spell transmits sound, not meaning; it doesn't transcend language barriers. To speak a message, you must mouth the words and whisper.Message |Casting Time: 1 standard action

You can decipher magical inscriptions on objects—books, scrolls, weapons, and the like—that would otherwise be unintelligible.
This deciphering does not normally invoke the magic contained in the writing, although it may do so in the case of a cursed or trapped scroll.
Furthermore, once the spell is cast and you have read the magical inscription, you are thereafter able to read that particular writing without recourse to the use of read magic.
You can read at the rate of one page (250 words) per minute.
The spell allows you to identify a glyph of warding with a DC 13 Spellcraft check, a greater glyph of warding with a DC 16 Spellcraft check, or any symbol spell with a Spellcraft check (DC 10 + spell level).Read Magic First Level:Casting Time: 1 Standard action

You can understand the spoken words of creatures or read otherwise incomprehensible written messages.
The ability to read does not necessarily impart insight into the material, merely its literal meaning.
The spell enables you to understand or read an unknown language, not speak or write it.
Written material can be read at the rate of one page (250 words) per minute.
Magical writing cannot be read, though the spell reveals that it is magical.
This spell can be foiled by certain warding magic (such as the secret page and illusory script spells).
It does not decipher codes or reveal messages concealed in otherwise normal text. Comprehend Languages

Tarbin made a low good natured chuckle at Ariadne's words. "Don't be worrying about me miss I'm more than capable of standin up for my own beliefs but the fact you wanted to defend me means a lot" Tarbin declared as a smile slowly spread across his features. "And the three sisters were there for me when I was at my lowest and I needed them the most so I guess you could say they earned my worship aswell..." Tarbin agreed before leaning in and whispering. "Besides as far as I can tell the worshipers of the Heavenly Masters have just broken down each individual aspect of the three sisters and named a god or goddess after it... but don't tell them I said that..." Tarbin whispered with a conspiratorial wink.
Tarbin then stood back and watched the little interplay between Fletcher and Ariadne and allowed her to storm towards the exit though he did prepare himself to follow though the fortunes seemed to be smiling upon him as rather than leave immediately the young woman headed back towards him.
"Tarbin miss... just Tarbin" Tarbin corrected the young woman when she came back to talk to him. "And it would be no trouble at all miss, I could do with stretching my legs..." Tarbin replied. The large man then looked at Ariadne and frowned for a moment. "Now you will be safe enough with me but do you not want to change out of your uniform before going outside? There are folk who would take advantage of a lady dressed so..." Tarbin suggested with a look of concern. "I also wouldn't keep those on show..." Tarbin added in a whisper as he lent in slightly and meaningfully glanced towards the coin pouches.
Despite it being a favour and a job Tarbin actually found the walk with Ariadne rather pleasant. She was a friendly girl and a good talker and it was nice to talk to someone who shared a few of his beliefs. Ofcourse half of Tarbin's attention was not on the conversation at all and was instead searching the surroundings for threats. The abrubt stop however took the large man a little by surprise "Oh it was no trouble and I am in now rush..." Tarbin replied politely as he glanced about. "I'd be more than happy to escourt you right to your door..." Tarbin then offered. "And if you ever need an escourt again your conversation is more than worth the trouble" Tarbin added with a smile as he reached up and rubbed the back of his head.
Rolled a 16 for Perception for looking out for threats
