I'll be considering options over the following weeks. Since I have a working knowledge of Cypher I hope it would be okay to veer away from the guide posted in the ad

Welcome, ihinka!
Yes, veering away from the guide posted in the ad is okay.
I went through the Cypher book and chose the 'descriptors' and 'focus'es that I thought fit the setting, but I welcome creative customization there. I'd rather adapt the 'Character Statement' to a player's character concept than the other way around.

Consider me very interested. I know pretty much nothing about the Cypher system, and am notoriously thick-headed when it comes to new systems, but I absolutely cannot pass up a chance to play a Killjoy.
Yay!
Don't worry about not being familiar with the Cypher system. There will be lots of help, and if I can pick it up then anyone can

Appearance:
Age: 27
Height: 177 cm (5’9.5’’)
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Blue
Ava is tall and wiry, though not particularly strong. Her moves are nimble and quick. Her red hair is straight, medium long, and usually set free or put in a ponytail. Her blue eyes have a confident, no-nonsense, steely glare.
Personality:
Ava is straightforward and tough, if not aggressive, and she doesn’t like things too complicated. She is organized, and after long service in the military, she prefers company and is a team player. She will call on any bs. She enjoys a good fight and keeps her gun within hand's reach. She tends to be ironic or sarcastic most of the time.
Cypher Character Statement OR Concept: I am a Resilient SpecForce Operator (Warrior) who Moves Like a Cat
Background:
Ava was born in the Korel system. She was an orphan, and she never knew her parents. She escaped from the orphanage and lived on the street for several years. Eventually she ran into problems with the law and was sent to the juvenile detention center, and from there she was sent to boot camp at the age of 14.
The boot camp was tough for her, but under a strict program, she eventually adjusted and was allowed to join the Imperial Marines of the United Republic a year later. She went through basic training, and with her instructors impressed with her resilience, she was directed to combat training. She served for four years in the 5th Marine Regiment (the Fist), 1st Marine Division, the most decorated regiment in the Marines. Next, over the next seven years, earning the rank of Sergeant, she served in the elite SpecOps unit, the Marine Raiders, seeing a lot of combat. She visited the Quad often as part of IMUR's Black Ops operations. Captured by the Ferran during an unsanctioned top-secret operation, she was abandoned by the United Republic.
When she was with the Ferran, she was considering joining them but eventually escaped after a few months of imprisonment, and her fate opened the possibility for her to become an RAC agent. Still learning the ropes, Ava is enjoying being a Killjoy.

Roleplaying Sample:
There is a defunct game I was running, Star Wars Reconquest - it should have enough samples, but if more are needed, I can provide more.
Why: I've watched and enjoyed Killjoys, but that was ages ago. I liked it mainly due to the setting and the similarities to a much better Dark Matter.
Cypher: Never heard of it before, doing quick catch-up right now.
Appearance: Teyleyr is average. He stands six feet tall, has dirty blond hair and beard, pale grey eyes and fair skin.
Personality: Describe your character's personality.
Cypher Character Statement OR Concept: Teyleyr is a mechanical explorer with technology who conducts weird science.
Background: Teyleyr grew up on Laryon Station. He roamed the corridors and public areas where he gathered information, hoarded salvage, and took odd jobs. He secreted away anything lost or discarded. He amassed a large treasure hoard of bits and pieces that he used to fashion all manner of frankensteined creations.
Teyleyr was raised, as it were, by a village, or rather by a station. Almost all the residents and regular passersthrough knew him, if not necessarily by name. He earned bits of joy here and there - toting bags, carrying messages, doing odd jobs, selling artwork and inventions - anything, really.
If you needed a contact and they were on the station, Teyleyr could find them for you.
As he entered into adulthood he found a spot as ship's crew; though he rarely stayed long on any one ship. He travelled and learned as he went. Recently he entered the Quad and joined a crew that signed on with the RAC.
Note that once we have our 3 or 4 players, some adjustment to character statements might be needed to make sure the team of characters has a variety of skills and abilities covered. We will also establish the interpersonal connections between the PCs that make them a team. The Killjoy level relates to the level of Warrant an individual Killjoy can accept and is not connected to the Player-Character's Tier.
Player Section:
Roleplaying Sample: Provide a couple links to posts you've made in games on the site, OR if you are new to rpgX please provide a writing sample. WIP
Why: If you've seen some episodes of the Killjoys tv series, what did you like about the show? If you haven't watched the tv series at all, what about this game interests you? bounty hunting, gritty worlds, not so much the Hullen
Cypher: Have you used this system (or any system based on Cypher) before? No
Lines and Veils: The game will comply with the site's PG-13 rating, but there may be topics that make you uncomfortable. Feel free to secret this to me, and you don't need to give me reasons

A question... the links with some information about the Cypher system talk about CSRD where there are Special Abilities for each archetype... where can I find it?

@A7ice - it's good to see you
The Cypher System Reference Document, CSRD (in .docx format - page numbers in the ad refer to this) can be legally downloaded for free here: https://csol.montecookgames.com/license/
(Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "DOWNLOAD THE CSRD.")
So far I'm thinking a former debutant, turned space pirate/robin hood, turned RAC Which translates into explorer with speaker flavor, descriptor - chaotic and an appropriate focus to tie up the character's current skillset.
I already have a pic for her, though. I always start with that.
APPLICATION - Withdrawn as life has picked up too much
Character Section
Name: Jamie aka April Peng
Gender Identity and Pronouns: Female - she/her
Appearance: Jamie is a slim woman of obvious Chinese descent with brown eyes and short black hair kept very short to keep it from being used against her in a fight. She has two thin scars on her jaw back near her right ear and another one up near her hairline on the same side.
She has decorative implant points back near each ear that she frequently loads with teal or purple LEDs. She keeps a series of cyber fetishes. She acquired a pair of catgirl ears which she pins to her jacket like a trophy. She has an exploded metal bullet casing crimped into fabric on her forearm.
She dresses for the environment. She prefers athletic wear, but if she needs to slum it, she'll don a trenchcoat. Unless she needs to dress up, athletic shoes are included.
Personality: Jamie like machines better than people. Their betrayals are easier to understand. She takes time to trust other people, but once trusting remains steadfast in her loyalty. She is more cautious these days who she helps and bails rapidly if the deal changes. That's why the Warrants serve her well. If she sticks to the Warrant , she's less likely to be mislead...by people.
Cypher Character Statement OR Concept: Clever Adept with Technology Flavor who Talks-To-Machines
Appearance: A Tall, Lithe Man who looks to be in his only just turned 20, growing up on Westerley is hard on the skinmid to late twenties, Trick is around 5ft 11 and has a head of perpetually messy brown hair which seems to always be in need of a comb or a cut. His sharp chiselled face also always looks like he needs to shave a couple of days of stubble off his chin but it doesn't distract from his wry cheeky smile or the glint of mischief in his pale green eyes.
Despite his scruffy street rat appearance anyone who pays attention will notice that Trick is clean and hygenic and he moves with an unnatural grace and balance, light on his feet and with dexterous movements, almost dancing as he moves. Watch him long enough when he is relaxing and you will catch a glimse of something dancing around his fingers and disappearing like magic, a coin, a marble, a playing card. Trick is always in motion of some kind, like he has energy to burn, if he isn't moving his body then his hands are almost subconsciously in motion running through a repertoire of sleight of hand and Magicians tricks
Personality: Like his name suggests, Trick can be very mercurial and unpredictable, constantly doing the unexpected and constantly in motion, like the magic tricks he performs you are never sure if what you see with trick is what is real. Which of course it isn't, growing up in the streets of Westerley, Trick has gotten used to relying on himself and not showing his true nature to all but the most trusted friends, which are few and far between. But under the playful, flirtatious facade he projects Trick is fiercely loyal to his friends and longs for a true family, both the one he will make and the part of his true family he was missing growing up. He has a strong suspicion who his father truly is and knows that he will never accept a street kid with his larcenous past, But a Level 5 Killjoy in good standing with the RAC? that is someone his father would be proud to acknowledge. Right?
Cypher Character Statement OR Concept: Graceful Explorer with Stealth Flavor who Throws with Deadly Accuracy
Background: In the Quad, if you want someone or something found and you have money, you contact the RAC. If you dont have the money you get yourself a Runner instead. They aren't as well trained and regulated as a Killjoy but they are alot cheaper. This of course leads to the profession being a pot luck of talent and morals. If you are on Westerley and you have any sense, the runner you hire is Trick. His methods are questionable but his morals are sound and he takes pride in his work. He will get the job done, just dont ask for details how. The less you know the less trouble you will be in should the company come calling.
Trick always dreamed of being a Killjoy, but for a street rat from Westerley the best he could do was make a name for himself as a Runner, they did the same job pretty much, just without the legal authority the RAC had when pursuiting a Warrant. this lead to Trick having to turn to less than legal methods to get the job done, something he proved to be very adept at. On the streets of Westerley there was no one faster and more elusive than Trick. If you needed something found, he could get his hands on it, if you needed someone located, he had the contacts to track them down. for a price. The price wasn't always fair but it was usually reasonable considering the other runners out there looking to make money.
Trick spent years building up a name for himself as a skilled runner, learning the trade and practising his skills until he was old enough to apply to the RAC to be a killjoy. an application which was rejected time and again but the boy was nothing if not persistent and no one knows quite how he pulled it off but he somehow managed to convince the higher ups at the RAC to take his application seriously and the unheard of happened, a Runner became a Killjoy.
Trick was born and raised on Westerley, and despite his claims he had never been off world yet, one of the other reasons being a part of the RAC is so appealing to the young man. The bastard son of some high ranking Company Man stationed on Westerley, his mother Elyssa Keller was a tailor before her fall from grace, but after her Dalliance with the unnamed officer she found herself pregnant and ostracised and forced to leave her home town of Avlen in disgrace due to pressure put on her by the family of the officer. Elyssa settled in Old Town and gave birth to a boy, Trimayne Cade Keller.
With little money and few skills to make a living for herself and her son, Elyssa did what needed to be done and resorted to less than moral and legal means of making a living, Back in Avlen her actions would be judged even more but in Old Town, she was just another face in the crowd and no one batted an eye at the things she, and in time Trick did to get by, it was just the way things were on most of Westerley
Elyssa passed away when Trick was 14, pegged out in the Black Rain by a street gang she allegedly owed money too. The leader of the gang gave Trick 2 days to find the missing money, an impossible task for the teenager, and with not enough money to hire a professional (Killjoy) to help him he was forced to rely on a local Runner. His first introduction to the world of the bargain basement killjoys, and a bad experience when the man took what little money Trick could scrape together and disappeared, making no attempt to fulfil his contract. Elyssa died and Trick vowed he would not be in that helpless position again, he would become a Runner, one who could be trusted and in time he would become a Killjoy. His upbringing might have not been the most honest and his skills were much more suited to criminal behaviour but he vowed he would not be like the man he hired. He might not have the authority and training that the RAC provided but their motto still held true even for a lowly Runner. The Warrant is All You take the Job you do the Job.
Why: Where to even begin to say whats to like about the show? If you haven't seen it yet what have you been doing? So i will just keep my answer short and sweet and id you've seen it you will know. Khlyen!
Cypher: No Experience with the Cypher System before, doing my best to pick it up as we speak
Lines and Veils: No Lines that i've come across yet on the site, Most games i've experienced have done a good job of keeping to the Rating. If something comes up in game that makes me uncomfortable i'll either message you directly about it or just suck it up.

Appearance: At 5'8'' Lola is slim and nimble looking. She sports a scruffy, I-don't-give-a-damn look. Her platinum blond hair is styled in a messy, asymmetrical pixie cut. Her left eyebrow is bisected in two places. Unclear if by scars or shaven as a fashion statement. There's always a cut or two adorning her alabaster skin. A bruise here and there. Or... are those hickeys?! A beauty spot rides high on her left cheekbone. While stormy, grey eyes survey everyone and everything with practiced disinterest.
Her dress style screams of rebellion against aristocratic dress code and norms. Ripped skinny jeans are held by a heavy leather belt, supporting a sidearm. Topped by a tight tank-top. A striped scarf hides the evidence of last night's dalliances. And her hands are gloved, with jewelry and accessories over them, much in the fashion of nobility. Every clothing article sports some gaudy or kitsch adornment and/or decoration.
Personality: Lola is in your face, no nonsense kind of person. She does not pull punches. Verbal or flesh and bone ones. She was born and bread on false niceties and social pretense. It was disgusting to her then, it is disgusting to her now. Much better to rip the band-aid off, rather than let the wound beneath fester without fresh air.
Lola doesn't like to hold anything back. To some she might seem like chaos incarnate. But what is a system without chaos to balance it out? Where would the patient planner be without the impulsive implementer? Where would the hidden sniper be without the lunatic decoy to draw its prey out in the open? Lola's pink goggles might be off and she may be gazing at the world in shades of grey. But she is still wild and boisterous with it, much like in her youth.
Work hard, party harder, live life to the fullest!
Cypher Character Statement OR Concept: A descriptorchaoticExplorer with Speaker Flavorrapscallion who Focus approval pendingcharges right in...
Background: Lola doesn't talk much about her early life. But it's not like she goes out of her way to hide it either. For those who care enough to find out, Lola was once the daughter of a minor Qreshi nobility. And as with anything on Qresh, possession is nine tenths of the law. And in order to maintain their possession on Qresh, they decided to bargain with their most lucrative commodity. Their own daughter!
On the other hand, Lola was your typical, young debutante enjoying all the pleasures and benefits that came with her station. In fact, she enjoyed them so much, she just couldn't help herself but share them with the less fortunate. The wild and industrious young lady had developed quite the contact network with all the rebels with a cause she could muster. Supplying them with times and locations of shipment convoys. Providing inside intel on warehouse security. Anything and everything to bleed Qreshi nobility dry.
Unfortunately for her, she was too successful and at some point her family fell on hard times. In a desperate attempt to cling to their position on Qresh they decided to marry off their daughter to a minor member of one of the Nine families.
Naturally Lola would have none of this! A well placed comm here and there and the young Qreshi debutante vanished into the void.
Soon after Lola, the space pirate with a Robin Hood complex, was born.
Still young and idealistic, Lola surrounded herself with people who shared her cause. To bleed dry those damned, rich Qreshi bastards! It was a wild and exciting part of Lola's life. She played fast and loose, partied hard and lived life to the fullest! Lola grew into her new self as she worked to liberate stinky rich a**holes from their joy. But as it is with all things in life... All good things must come to an end!
As the years went on and people around her came and went, Lola came to realize that idealism was hard to sustain. And while she remained steadfast in her conviction, those without often tended to become corrupted by the desire for possession. Lola grew more and more jaded as she watched good people around her turn greedy and vicious.
By the time she hit thirty-six, there was little of the idealistic, young debutante left. Lola's eyes were fully open to the detritus of the world and all she wanted to do now was put all the skills she'd acquired during her wild, younger years, to good use. And if it earned her nice bag of joy to boot, all the better!
Why: Aside from Dutch, obviously... Lucy's constant put-downs of Johnny Oh, and that one line of how D'av effed the Hullen out of that one chick. Also, Pree and Gared were the most adorable couple ever.
Cypher: Yes, I've played a couple of games using Cypher. Its in my top favorite systems, together with FATE.
Lines and Veils: Anything non-consensual is a hard line for me. Everything else we can be adults about and discuss OOC before enacting IC.
