How did you all meet?

i have travelled far enough from home to start looking for my path to fortune without fame and to that end it is now my time to search for distracting folk to tag along with. While scouting out, i noticed the perfect companions. One is a human who turns heads wherever he goes, the other a gnome who can be trusted to bump into furniture and add a more physical reason for people to ignore me. as I have finished my main shopping and can see the gnome checking out a crossbow while looking at his coins sadly I see a way to make contact. "Excuse me, I can see you are interested in that crossbow, I have a few spare coins I could lend a fellow gnome, if you have space on your team for me, that is?" I await a reply before deciding how much I will tell of my background. if they turn out to be from my homeland, my level of trust will be somewhat lower than if they are from that nice Gnomeland i have heard of.
(I am not sure whether you are after 1st or 3rd person here - and i am in a departure lounge, so it is a quick intro rather than a mighty story hook.) |

After my father died, I left the farm in my brother's hands and went out in the world. Not exactly seeking adventure, but it seemed to find me. I can not stand injustice and when I encountered it, I had to step in.
One of these adventures, if you will, involved the Blind Crows. They were on the side of right and it was easy to join with them to overcome the evil mages they were fighting. After, they offered my a position with the group. I agreed with the condition that I would not work with evil companions or assist evil doers. Since then we have been on several missions and have grown closer as a group. A few of my comrades are not pure good, but that is a rare and idealistic condition. Plus, I think I have changed somewhat with a bit more tolerance, but still a clear picture of evil and its minions.

Why did I join the crows? Well, it's rather hard to explain.
Vrozka is a rather dull place, and my life was quite boring there. I learned to make basic repairs on the mining equipment, to wear protective gear, and to fight off wild animals with various weapons. Life in Vrozka is highly segregated-your lot in life is inherited, and most of us are poor and live simple lives. Things started to get better when the wise King Sonstra XXVII took the throne, but they were not particularly bad before that, because the nobles pride themselves on honor and virtue, and make a point of treating those below them well. After my cousin died, things sort of went sour to me. I no longer enjoy the annual fair and carnival, which was always the highlight of the year for me. Perhaps my Gnomish curiosity drives me out to explore the world. Perhaps it is the fact that I am clever, but a tad clumsy and lacking in sense. I never could thrown the balls straight at the carnival...but I digress. The Blind Crows gives me a chance to travel the world and be something more than I could be back home. Not better, simply more. |
