You follow Janner at a slow walking pace as he traces a trail that you can only see part of the time; a blood stain in the grass here, a tuft of material or hair there , some heavy footmarks in damp patches. But after a couple of hours Janner stops and points to some foothills about two miles in the distance.

There! Head for those caves. That's where the orcs'll be.

You march on warily, and soon you see a hilly mound with an unmistakable narrow , dark entrance . You are a hundred feet or so away, but the rock cover is such that you can probably get a lot closer without being detected. What plans will you make against the
orcs within?

Bobo did not know what to do next, but he had hunted before. Wild boar. Rats. Racoon. He figured it had to be something similar. "My pa taught me how to hunt silently." He wasn't the greatest at it, but better than others he knew. Tarton. Ulfer's half-wit son. Shoot, he couldn't steal a fly from a blind spider, but always said he was quieter than Bobo. Sure, he was a better shot. He remembered once seeing Tarton hit a Jay in flight from 125 paces with a sling. Popped it right out of the air. It was a beautiful shot for sure, but Bobo was quieter. He could get within a few paces of an animal he stalked before it ran off.

Sneaking up on things around here must be similar to growing up in the swamps. He figured there wasn't much difference. Splashing water or rustling reeves makes just as much sound as rocks hitting each other.

Thinking of Tika a smile crossed his face--she would be proud of him. Grabbing his sling and patting Iggy on the head, Bobo did not wait for the others to respond. As quietly as his bare feat allowed, he heads towards the Orc camp meandering his way from rock out cropping to rock out cropping, freezing in place if he accidently makes some noise, sheepishly looking back with a stupid smile. He needed to prove himself to the others that he could do this. His half-baked plan was to get a close to them as he thought possible.

Rhiannon
She stays a moderate distance saying, "I certainly will not be able to approach silently. So, I will come rushing in when the young lad and whoever is with him call for aid." She didn't want to disrupt their silence so that was the best plan she had really.

As Bobo approaches he sees that the cave entrance is about 10 feet wide. A passageway leads north from it for about 10 feet and opens into a larger cave. You can't see much in there because the flickering torchlight is dim, but you hear a loud grunt and snoring. What will you do?

OOCEven with infravision, Bobo cannot see into the darkness, for he is standing in the
light. (Infravision does not work if the PC is standing in, or looking into, any thing brighter than dim torchlight.)

Not to be outdone, Sa'Byan slips quietly into position to support Bobo with his short bow at the ready.

Looking into the cave, Bobo squints trying to see. No use. The sun is too bright. The young Halfling leans against a rock wondering what he should do next. He had not planned this far in advance and was perplexed. He licked his lips and rubbed his chin as though that would help him think through the situation. If Taks was here, he would know what to do. Taks knew everything. Well. He not gotten his foot bitten off. But that is besides the point.

Looking back, he see an Elf sneaking towards him. Scratching his head, he tries to remember his name. Sa -something. Sa Bing. Say ban. He doesn't remember. He will ask when the Elf gets here. He eyed the Elf's bow. He always wanted to have one, but they were too expensive. Looking at the small rocks by his feet, he picks up a nice round one and loads his sling.

Turning back, he watches the entrance again, trying to squint a different way to further into the cave.

Bobo gets a little better view of the cave now. The cave is roughly square, 30 feet on each side. The only other entrance you see is a 10-foot wide passage opposite you, in the middle of the north wall. There are a couple of rough bunks by the west wall with orcish forms dozing on them with short swords nearby. A single orc sits by a table holding a tankard. He also has a short sword.

OOCThe three green O on the map represent the position of the orcs. If you decide to enter the cave, just let me know what is your marching order so I can place you on the map accordingly.
