Hi guys, welcome to the game. I'll be explaining some basic rules.

(First, go post your character sheet and follow the directions of the "Survivors" thread.)

Now. First, as mentioned before, all Die rolls will be made in the actual game thread. Please put it in a feildset, and name the FS whatever the roll is for. Second, make sure that you use your formating for emotes. I have specifics that I quite want, but rest assured, all I want is basic book formating.

Third, I'm fine with a bit of OOC in the game thread.. Just keep it relevant. Anything that will require more than one post to answer should be brought here.

And last, remember to have fun.

I'm completely unclear on the stat rolls...can you elaborate?

OK I've read your stat sentence again. I believe I'm seeing you say (4d6 (drop lowest) x6) twice

Dice Roll:
4d6kh3 4, 1, 6, 2 (keeping 2,4,6) Total = 12
4d6kh3 2, 4, 6, 6 (keeping 4,6,6) Total = 16
4d6kh3 4, 1, 3, 6 (keeping 3,4,6) Total = 13
4d6kh3 5, 3, 2, 3 (keeping 3,3,5) Total = 11
4d6kh3 5, 2, 1, 5 (keeping 2,5,5) Total = 12
4d6kh3 4, 6, 6, 3 (keeping 4,6,6) Total = 16


and

Dice Roll:

That's correct. Quite a toss-up there, as well..

However, this is also the wrong place to roll it :P... Choose the one you want and post it with your App under "Survivors"

Nah, the first is better...it doesn't have the 9 in strength....at least I don't think its better. (the bard requires high int, dex, and cha, so all three high rolls in the 2nd set have to go there)

17 vs 16 dex is really the question there, and the great loss of carrying capacity. entirely depends on how you are going to handle encumbrance...

ok before i make any kind of rolls i have a question. just to qualify as a ranger i need a Str-13,Dex-13,Con-14 and Wis-14. then for the stalker kit which makes him a city ranger i need a Int-14. so that means i need 3 rolls 14+ and 2 rolls 13+ out of the 6 rolls. if you look at the old post i made in the ap thread it took me way more than 2 tries to get those stats and after relooking at it myself i never did get them i was a 14 off. so what do you want me to do?

I never understood the stat requirements in 2e (which is why 3e axed it). By the time the kits came around, most everyone I knew about was using alternate rolling methods that aren't in the books (re-roll ones, 5d6 instead of 4d6, etc etc).

My personal favorite was roll 30d6 and arrange each die however you wanted, but one stat had to suck (less than 10) no matter what and no stat could exceed 19.

Along with Thac0, the stat restrictions were always one of the things I thought was not right in 2e (well, that and humans suck bricks compared to other races and multi-classing is OP in 2e, but that's typically accepted universally)

I'm looking for opinions on stats.

The second set doesn't work really for the bard (requires DEX=12, INT=13, CHA=15, making the 16 have to be INT, which is just a bad choice for a bard unless I'm going to dual-class wizard later...not)

So its the first set. The question is str=12/dex=16 or str=16/dex=12. The first has more AC and missle attack (which I won't be using I don't think) and the latter is more +dmg and carrying capacity.

@Bone Hrm.. Well, seeing as you were brand new at the time, i'll forgive it and allow you to take one of those rolls. I understand your class has many stat restrictions, so that sucks.
@JaredH (1st comment) Hrm, never heard of the 30d6 method. Sounds a bit too giving, though. And, yeah, the stat restrictions made sense at first.. The theory was that to have the skill to be a mage (For example), you had to be really smart to learn the spells. But then it just got ridiculous, like the Stalker kit.
(2nd comment) Hrm. As far as encumbrance, I -will- be keeping track of it, and putting it to effect.. But only if your really encumbered, otherwise its only a hassle. I would go with the former, if your a bard.

Well, after refreshing my memory of the kit, and what drew me to it (some bard, some theif, some warrior...which is the type of person I'd see surviving up to this point in the campaign) I'm going to go with the first set of stats with 16str.

The kit allows any armor, but has werido lusty requirements for which you take (you want to look gooood and brag about it) so its entirely possible in the length of a campaign, you'd wear plate one week, find hide + 2 (which by the kit rules is "better" because its magical and has a higher +number) then swap to chainmail.

The downside is the wizard spells and the way 2e works with casting rules (another thing 3e got right...the %failure for armor vs simply not letting it work at all).

So I'm going to be a bit of a light fighter that can do some bard like stuff.

deo i went back and looked and i never got the required stats even with all those rolls i made. i ended up with -17,15,13,13,13,8 and i needed at least 14,14,14,13,13,? so i was a 14 off. do i just change 1 of the 13s to a 14 or is there something else you want me do to like trying to roll stats again till i somehow get 6 stat high enough?

....My god bone, that kit is crazy. I'll give you two options.
One: Take a stat set of 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 6..
Two: Ignore the stat requirements and roll again. I'll let you play the class without them.

how about this as a option for the stats since i wanted him to be a intellectual type fighter and not a brawler? i keep the 17 i rolled so i can but it in int. i'll take the min required stats for str,dex,con,wis which will give me no bonuses. and i'll take a 6(harsh) or maybe the 8 i rolled(not as harsh) in cha.
