Expedition Boolyabay

Day 64 - Mid Afternoon up river I could see Father Gilbert's pale withered face now. A talking animal and no spells used by any of our team. Magic still may have been used, just not by us. What struck me about this creature, Tim, is how similar it is to humanoids.

He apologized for being rude to us because of their politics and hostilities. Who are the others? Tim was the only one around besides a bug flying around him. And he said that bug was taunting him. So there is a war going on between whatever Tim is and bugs? I don't think that bug had much of a chance. Then again, a swarm of them could cause problems. Going to have to remember that bug pestilence spell.

Tim also brought up a Council. A Council of what? He will need to ask more on this. Why was there a Council? Normally Council are to govern areas and dictate laws, but these are creatures. Is the Council used for the crazy humanoids on the borderlands? Have other races tried to invade?

Is Tim telling us everything? If the trees saw us coming, then they would have seen the other expedition.

What did that expedition find?

Cannibalistic Elven tribes. Elves. So those must be the crazed two-legged creatures.

Blood sucking insects. We found large insects and will definitely find more.

Disease. We have to prepare for that. Make sure we drink only purified water.

Nightmarish creatures. Hopefully we can avoid those but a nightmarish creature to one individual is different to others. I've seen small spiders terrorize individuals even though they could just squash them with their feet.

The expedition also brought back items of value, stories of fertile lands and beautiful native people. That last one gets me. A Dwarf thinking natives are beautiful? They are not the most beautiful themselves.

Regardless, We need to be on our toes. I think Tim is here to warn us to not do what the other exploration group did. We need to warn our captain and crew.

I have to pray on this. I need to make sure I'm prepared for what we are about to encounter.

Day 64 - Mid Afternoon up river - addendum It seems odd that our Druid is not interested in what is going on. Davynor is trying to keep us safe and that is appreciated, but I was always under the impression that Druids are more interested in the natural world. Ours is different. I do not mind, just find it odd.

I don't think I expect the same out of Nailfin, but then again, should I? Though not a Druid, his life did revolve around the same similar environment. I wonder what he thinks. I'll keep my mouth shut for the time being and watch everybody.

What does concern me, and I think is going to come back and haunt us, is this so-called council and little war going on. We have much to gain by learning more and just as much to loose by not. In fact, I'm more concerned about this than our cannibal crazy Elves further in. At least with them you know what you are dealing with. This is politics. And I HATE politics.

Day 64 - Evening Camp You gotta love people. Everybody has their own opinions. Everybody wants to be right or at least think they are.

To camp or not to camp, that is the question. Some yeahs, some nays.

Will we meet creatures at night with the camp fire? Probably. More likely we will get assaulted by bugs. Lots of bugs.

Could we wander on in the dark relying on our scouts and those who can see in the dark? Sure. Is this any more risky than a camp fire? I think so, but based on what I've heard, our scouts are supposed to be really good.

What I can say is this is going to be a long night. Different sounds. Different smells. Different land. Not something where everybody just falls asleep for a good night rest. I need to pray for some guidance on what spells to take. If we take a break, I can. If we continue wandering, I cannot. Guess the ball will land where it lands.

Day 64: Stop to make camp
Some of the group not only have no scouting skills, their idea of such is enough that we might as well walk around with a clanging gone, or resounding cymbal like a gypsy dancer.
This means we should most definitely make camp, and I for one will whether or not anyone else does.

Saw some fish, red gills, blue mouth tendrils. Reminds me of someone I used to travel with, his emotions running hot one day and cold the next. Think I'll call them 'Lukewarms.' Getting a closer glimpse of the ridgelines in the distance. Like to explore them a bit before I better assess what's in them and give them a proper name.

Boolyabay - Day 2

We trekked up the river the remainder of the previous day and made camp. I caught a strange fish from the water there, pulling it out using telekinesis. The other's didn't seem to bat an eye at that, perhaps they assumed it was mundane magic that accomplished the task. This may be for the better. The night passed mostly uneventful, though we were awoken to the sound of distant drums. I doubt the animal and insect type population on the Island (we meet a few of them yesterday) would be involved in such an activity. It suggestive of more civilized humanoid type occupants.

today we continued out hike to the top of the mountain peak from whence the river we followed originated. The view was beautiful, and we spotted several more mountains tall enough to still have snow on them. From the direction the drums originated the previous night we have also spotted several riders that are making their way towards us. I don't know if we have been spotted, or our base camp, but I feel it is time for us to make haste and meet more of the locals.
