Background
From an early age, Erudin believed that he was destined for great power in the world of Aar. Born to a high-class family in the City of Siel, Erudin never lacked for anything in his early childhood. The very best education, the best clothes, everything that the spoiled brat of a child wanted, he got.

But what his parents never realised was that they could not give him what he truly wanted. Fame. Power. Enrolling at the famed Mage Academy at Siel when he began to demonstrate an affinity for magic at a very young age. Erudin learned under the very best.

But it wasn't enough. He wanted more than they could give him. He did not want to study boring, mindless cantrips, create spells to tidy the house and such mundane tripe. He wanted excitement. He was young, naïve, gullible.

He was easy to mold, as a young cleric of an obscure death cult by the name of Darian found out. Erudin was welcomed into the world of death, sacrifices and his soul was twisted and tainted from the teachings of the outlawed cult. He became fascinated in death, and particularly murder, seeking to study and learn the dangerous art of necromancy.

He experimented on animals at first, dissecting them to learn more about their anatomies, testing their pain threshold and learning how much pain they could withstand before they died. He began to specialise in killing them in grotesque and inhumane ways, all in the name of the death cult he began to serve. Unfortunately for him, when his experiments began to expand to human beings, and students began to disappear from campus, he was soon discovered and chased from the college, expelled both from the academy and the city itself, bade never to return on pain of death.

Homeless, penniless, Erudin had very few options, save one that his fellow cultists had once mentioned. A place. Dwarfguard. There, he was told, he would find his way and find his destiny. It took a while, but eventually he found his way to the Underdark and the city of Dwarfguarf.

There he would find power.

Background : Valsuvious was born above ground in the lands of light hope and reason. Vague Memories of a loving Mom and Dad and a life in a castle, nestled high up in a mighty mountian chain, haunt his memories on cold lonely underdark nights.

Valsuvious has only hazy memories before the slave chain and the seemingly endless death march through the desert to the underdark.

A dark army stormed his castle home when Valsuvious was but a child. Throwing down its walls, killing his parents, and draggin him off as a slave. Sold along with others to slavers who sold to the slave merchants of the underdark. Valsuvious ended up in the mining pits of a drow city.

It was here that he was sent to die. To young to be of real value, his brutal trek through the desert only diminished his health and inturn his value. It was an odd occurance that saved his life. A drow mage often scoured these slave refuse areas for dimonds in the ruff and happend to stumble across Valsuvious. This drow mage owned a slave who was powerful sear, and with her was able to see glimpse's of futures yet to be. Wanting to end his pain and suffering Valsuvious attacked a guard belonging to this drow mage, hoping for a quick death. As fate would have it the drow mage spared his life as his sear went in convulsions proclaming things yet to come about this dieing slave. Casting powerful magics the mage gave the dieing child an offer: Of your own free will you shall obey me and work with all your might to become the greatest Combatant in the arenas of "Drow City". Or stay here and die. The choice is yours.........

The choice was not hard to make starvation and death or life and glory....... Yes.... I will...

With a might flourish and the sounds of a great wind the drow mage cast the free will geas... A great and terrble binding of the spirt.

Hello please excuse the generic greeting but Toad` is away on vacation and so you are stuck with me...Antigone. However, I have managed to rip off Toad`s canned greeting and I share it with you now.

my name is Toad` (some call me Grave) and I have been unofficially dubbed the Official Newb Greeter. Seeing as how you are new to the site....

Welcome to DnDOG! I hope you find your stay enjoyable. To help you avoid any confusion and to encourage your stay here, I present Ask Toad`! "The definitive source for all your DnDOG Frequently Asked Questions."

1) Regardless of which "Skin" you have chosen, there is a link at the top of the page to Site Rules and Help. If you can't find it, here's a handy link to it.

2) The people with red names are site staff; bold are Admins, the rest are Moderators. If you are having a problem, try to contact one of them. The green names are Community Supporters (CS). They are just like regular members but get a green user title, a larger mailbox, get priority consideration for the New Player Solo Games (see below), and a few other benefits that aren't all that important for now. You may have noticed that your username is in Yellow, this is because you are a brand new member and have been labeled (and restricted) accordingly. Our efforts to maintain a spam-free environment for gaming are one of the reasons we have done this. All you need to do is make 4 posts that count towards your post count, wait for your join date to be 48 hours in the past, and your member name will change to Blue and you will gain all the privileges of a 'regular' member. You can read more about all that here.

 

There are a few places on this site that don't count towards your post count. Those include:

• Open Roleplaying
• Advertisements
• General Discussion
• New Player Introductions

Pretty much everywhere else, especially game forums, will increase your post count towards that minimum. The sooner you get to that magical number of 4, you will be able to send PMs and be 'normal'.

Some other places that increase post count that are particularly fun include:

• Ask Amy
• Essence of Em
• Hints of Hugga
• RoBi's Ruminations

3) While mainly a site for Dungeons and Dragons, hence the moniker DND Online Games (DnDOG to most), just about any role playing game system can be played here. Some people have even played board games on this site.

4) Again, this site is primarily for Dungeons and Dragons (see #3 above). Most played is the 3.5 edition and transitions to 4.0. Others as far back to 2e have been known to be played as well. If you do not have access to 3.5e books, there is a handy System Reference Document available under the tools section at the top of the screen, or you can follow this link.
DnDOG also has a d20 Modern SRD found with the 3.5 one above, or click this link.
DnDOG does not currently have a SRD for 4.0, but there is one from Wizards Site. Follow this link to the D&D Compendium.

5) If you still have issues with the site after this, you can get technical help here, and if you have questions about the game rules, you can get those answered here.

6) If you're new to D&D, or just new to Play by Post (PbP), then you can get your feet wet with some experienced members of the site. Go here to sign up for a quick sample game*, and go here to see some sample character builds. As stated above, if you decide to subscribe as a Community Supporter you will be given priority consideration (moved to first in line) for one of these 'newbie' games.

 

If you do sign up for a New Player Solo Game, please be patient in waiting for a response. The people that run these games tend to be quite busy. New players have been known to wait 4-5 weeks for a response to their query.

7) Spell Check, Spell Check, Spell Check. I suggest you get a Spell Checker for your browser. Mozilla has a nice built in one. As the site is primarily driven by descriptions it helps to make sure you have your posts written so others can understand them. 1337 (LEET) speak is not tolerated. I personally over look the occasional spelling/grammar error as everyone makes them.. Others are not as forgiving and frequent errors/mistakes can irritate others very much. It can make the difference of getting accepted in a game or not, so try to put a little effort in.

8) Dice Roller. We have one of those. Information can be found in the help section mentioned above, and specifically at this link. Do NOT edit a post after you made a roll. No one can verify the integrity of the roll and most will consider the roll invalid, and even perhaps cheated. To play with the dice roller, and test any other tags you may be interested in, check out this thread.

9) Are you ready for a real game...? Well now that you know how the site works, I suggest you come up with a couple character concepts. Concepts that are vague and can be easily adapted. Once you have that done, navigate to the DMs Seeking Players thread. Find a game you like and modify one of your concepts and submit an application.

10) Want to interact with your fellow players? Discuss the events of the world? Come to the General Discussion Threads. It's a great place to start getting to know your fellow players, and get some name recognition while you're at it.

11) Sort of a pet peeve of mine, and maybe others too, are people new to the site that don't read the site rules. These people tend to:

1. break said rules,
2. become quite annoying to the site regulars,
3. end up not getting socially accepted,
4. end up not accepted into as many games as one normally would,
5. using the excuse "I didn't know that was a rule..."

In basics... my advice is to read as much information as you can before you go hog wild posting. In even more basics: RTM
