I just had another read through the dice tag behavior, and it seems that l just means it needs to be lower, while h includes higher and equal targets.

So from what I understand, there's no dice formula which checks for lower and equal, which is a shame.

I made the same mistake with sml. I guess the only solution is to use sml on a number one higher than your CN. If anybody knows a better way, please let me know.

Nah. The best way is obviously to roll a set both ways and use the faborite rolls from each.

Thanks and appreciate the check to see if anything important was missed. I personally think that a more concise GM update is better in a competition like this. Eases my anxiety that there are important details in a lengthy post I may have missed. Great stuff everyone, can't wait to see what's in store!

Is today the last game post or is that Saturday?

Also, how is advancement working with only 8 players (that's the number, correct?). Currently it's 2 per group advance each round if I understand correctly.

Round 2: 4
Round 3: 2
Round 4: 0

Have the judges decided yet if we are only doing 3 rounds or taking an increased number of players up the tier list? No rush, obviously, just curious.

Round 1 will kick off on July 3rd! (I'll probably open the threads late Sunday night), and you do get an extra day to post over July 4th/5th, so Round 1 will be a little bit easier on the schedule than the subsequent rounds.

With 8 players, the round structure is going to be as follows:
Round 1 - Two brackets of four. One player from each bracket will be eliminated, and not advance to Round 2.
Round 2 - One bracket of the remaining 6 players. Two players will be eliminated and not advance to Round 3.
Round 3 - One bracket of the remaining 4 players. Two players will be eliminated and not advance to Round 4.
Round 4 - The last two players will go head to head for the championship.

So, there will be a post, with another GM update Saturday morning, and one more player post after that. (You have two more posts this round, for 5 total, as of the time of this posting)

In the past, I have left the threads unlocked till late Sunday evening EST, giving players some extra time to write up their last post of the round. Given that we had an extra day for the holiday, I am considering extending it through Monday evening (which would give the judges 1 less day to read everything). I know at least one player has indicated that they are not able to post over the weekend

Just to note, I've added some clarification to how the 'Help' action is used.

Base 1 die to help
if you can use your training from your job in how you assist, roll 2 die
If you can use one of your skills in how you assist, roll 3 die.

This is noted in the 2nd post in the Rules Qs thread now. Give it a bit more oomph to use, since we don't have dedicated 'buff' skills/moves this year.

We have had two players post to get duplicated now, which is super strange. Makes me think it’s something on the back end of the server. I’m going to move the first instance of the posts out of the game threats in both cases.

to clarify, I tried to edit some text OUTSIDE the dice coding as usual excepting no problem, and it returned as coding manipulation. I then panicked, backspaced, and submitted again accidentally yielding the result as you saw. Strange how the exact same roll was posted again, though.

During judging week, my doors will be open. Sessions start at $25 for 30 minutes. I offer both 'verbal abuse' therapy and 'pretending to listen' session options.
