Ky RavsenKy shot Ghir a glare, but she could not maintain it as her glance also caught Solomon's own, the Dwarf still covered in the goo, but still, one could not miss when those beady eyes glared. She could not resist it, a small wink before she acted on Kova's assurance that she ought to use the wand on the fallen man. She was not going to just keep zapping though, no a pause each time as she checked to see just how well or not so well Arrun was doing. No point using more of the magic up than one had to.

"Made in Cyre, doesn't mean loyal to it, we aren't trying to slaughter everyone..." It was a mutter, and probably unneeded, but something about Kova's phrasing stung her just slightly. She wasn't crazed like the warforged were, ranting about Lords of Blades and other crazy things, in fact she really didn't understand any of what the things were going on about, save that the heraldry was of her own, an unpleasant reminder of a childhood long gone.

As Kova proposed, the potion administered to Arrun levels off his breathing and stops most of the bleeding. Ghir'Was' celebration of "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!"what is best in life awakens the paladin with a start, but his brush with death seems to have humbled him. He manages not to say anything condescending to either Kova or Ky as they do what they can to stabilize his condition. If anything, he just seems relieved to be among the living... for a moment, anyway.

"You won?" he asks after a moment, as if surprised that you managed a victory without him.

Kova finds a few things of interest on Saber and his minions. It seems that the longsword Saber carries bears a minor enchantment, as does his cloak, and the quarrels in the small quiver hanging from his belt bear one as well. The warforged sorcerer carries a couple of scrolls, a wand, and a handful of other adventuring implements, while the other warforged carry mundane weaponry and four potions of some sort of dark, oily mixture.

It only takes Ky a Ky (Use Magic Device): Since nothing is threatening her, Ky may take 10 on the attempt, guaranteeing success on her Use Magic Device check to activate the wand.few tries before she figures out how to activate the wand, and It only takes one charge to get him back into the positive numbers!within moments, Arrun is sitting up. Even once you gather your loot, you figure you have a few more minutes before Solomon will be in i.e. smaller and not as goopy...any condition to shimmy back up the rope from which you descended...

GMKova can identify the loot while you wait!

Saber: Longsword +1, +5 to Stealth checksCloak of Shadows, 5 Flaming Quarrels, Like an Everburning Torch, but operates as a hooded lantern, allowing the user to control the level of light.Everburning Lantern, 1 tanglefoot bag, 2 alchemist's fire
Sorcerer: Scroll of Burning Hands, Scroll of Flare Burst, prybar, 50' silk rope
Mooks: 2 longswords, 4 Healing for constructs. Will also mend broken or damaged items.Oils of Mending

Ghir'Was Breaker of bladesGhir'Was breaker of blades, simply nodded at Solomon Salt of the Noldrun Clan, but seeing that Arrun Corliostor would survive, he made a point to walk over and drop his sword near him. "Arrun Corliostor pray to the gods of Arrun Corliostor. Blue flame lent strength to the greatest of hunters, she who stalks death. Helped Ghir'Was breaker of blades to finish this battle. Arrun Corliostor and the flame are not prey for her this day."
Ghir'Was breaker of blades then does as requested. Grabbing discarded belongings, and the sack that was handed over earlier. Ghir'Was breaker of blades doesnt seem to have any interest in the loot, (but will take what is given to him) or Saber's corpse. Perhaps because he was not made of flesh, but no trophy is collected today.

Kova YarabreeKova held up the wand and eyed it with significant interest. "This will come in handy making up for the fact that I'm not much use in armor," he observed. "Ky might have some use for it as well, but if I take it then she won't have to bear such a burden of being my guardian angel." He winked at the rogue as he pocketed the wand. "And these scrolls should extend my offensive utility during our escape..." This was true, strictly speaking, but the wizard resolved to use them only in the most dire emergency. A scroll used in combat was one spell; a scroll transcribed to his spell book was a spell for life.

After perusing the other loot with enough passing interest to identify that which was magical, Kova walked over to the struggling Solomon and picked off a bit of the goo to study its magical dweomer. It didn't take long to get a sense of how fast the magic was degrading. "Fear not my good dwarf," he beamed. "This is a short-term nuisance only, held together by a quite temporary enchantment, once activated. It should dry out and flake off shortly." As he said this, the goo began to do just that.

He left the rest of the loot for the others to claim or argue over and racked a new quarrel into his crossbow, which he relit with a fresh cantrip. On soft, bare feet, the halfling moved furtively around the perimeter of the group,
Dice Perception:
1d20+10 (20)+10 Total = 30
looking and listening into the darkness. He crouched down, facing the path they had taken in to the vault which he assumed would also be their egress route, and dug a cloth-packed ration out of his backpack. As fascinating as Kova found these lower levels of the city, he had taken in enough for one day. His stomach was growling and the dried beef, cheese, and hard tack from his trail ration (that he was quickly nibbling into oblivion) might get him back to the upper city without passing out, but they were not what he considered a proper meal. "Ready when you all are."

Ky RavsenFor the first time since the moment that Ky had met the group and been insulted by Solomon, Ky felt grouchy. Here she was, an aid to Arrun to ensure the idiot still lived, being given a look by the Dwarf and now... Kova was the one who got to do all the looting and the little sassy thing just outright ruined her excuse for hanging back. Granted she also could not help but make a face back at the Halfling, partially a glare while mostly a humourous dirty look which culminated in her tongue sticking out.

"So long as you got everything good off the bastards, then we can discuss what makes the most sense later Kova..." A wink accompanied the light banter as she rose slowly, pocketed the wand she had gleaned off of Arrun and offered her hand, or more both of them out to the man to help him up off the floor.

"Back up and getting this thing delivered along with our payment, seems the best idea in years, I for one could use a long drink and a lovely meal."

Oh this is useful. Uuh, would you look at that? that’s for me. And that, that, this and that... Solomon’s internal voice was a mimicry of Kova’s as he followed the pilferer in his pocketing of rare and valuable goods endeavour, but just then the little fellow started marching intently and directly towards Solomon. The dwarf ceased the mind rant, subconsciously thinking that the trickster had read his mind and now came to transform him into something hideous. He steeled himself and drove a hand through the beard to make it sit straight. Except it didn’t. The old habit had his hand deep into goo-covered beard and entirely entangled with the substance.

When Kova gave his assessment of the situation, Solomon could do nothing but grunt in his extremely dismayed state, About time.

The conversation changed from praising various goddesses and looting to returning for food and ale. Combined with the fact that Kova had been right and the sticky goo was gone made Solomon several nudges more lighthearted and he even helped organize how things should be carried home (Ghir’was carries all in bundles).

Well then, Solomon said while looking expectantly at Ky, best you lead us back on top and try to find a way that doesn’t involve more strain on the ropes... they have seen enough wear and tear for a lifetime and should be discarded or sold to some fool of a greenskin. Hah, there’s a thought I like... Let them fall from some crazy climbing venture and break their puny necks. He nodded to himself and gave Ky a hearty pad on her shoulder, Stairs, my lady. Stairs!

Eager to exit the cavern and distance yourself from any dangerous vermin or more followers of the Lord of Blades, you gather your spoils and hastily make your way across the pebbled stone floor to squeeze through the tunnel through which you came. Within moments, Solomon has returned to his usual stature, and failing to find stairs, you ascend the rope one-by-one with Arrun ready to haul Solomon up like a basket of kittens, if he has to. A large basket of incredibly heavy, metal-clad kittens...

You emerge to find the ways outside infested with goblins, kobolds, ogres, and feral-looking men, all eyeing your loot greedily. Skokum intervenes, however, distracting the mob with a grand sales pitch for whatever junk he's picked up since you entered the valve cluster. You have to admit, he's got charisma (for a goblin) and his pitch gives you time to escape another bloody fight. "Skokum is stand-up chib!" he reminds the impoverished lot that make The darkest, dankest, belly of Sharn, far lower and more impoverished than even the squalor of the Lower City...the Cogs their home, though it's more of a reminder to you... should you ever find yourself again in Sharn's lightless depths, perhaps you can return the favor?

After several hours of backtracking, you find yourself ascending the ten-thousandth stair just in time to catch the last rays of light before the sun sets on Sharn. You are so exhausted and filthy from the climb that even the "low-born" folk of Sharn give you funny looks as you crawl forth from the bowels of the city and into the Refresher: The Lower City is where the poor and the downtrodden make their homes. The streets are crowded, filled with trash, and crime is rampant in most places...Lower City...

Relieved to have made it back to the part of the city where you only have to worry about one-out-of-ten rather than nine-out-of-ten, you immediately wave down a A small, airborne, boat-like vessel which takes advantage of the other-worldly forces which suspend the towers of Sharn in the sky. You've heard this is due to a "manifest zone" in which Syrania, the plane also called The Azure Sky, bleeds into your world, affecting it in strange ways.skycoach to save yourself any more climbing for the day. The small halfling fellow seems reluctant to let you board, but when he sees Kova, he allows you to do so... once he puts down some abandoned cloaks and coverings so you don't ruin his interior. Soon, you are zipping through the sky between the towers, taking in the sights of the windswept bridges, walkways, and greenery which dots the Mid-and Upper Cities. Few people climb from the bottom of the city to the top in one day... but now you can say that you have.

Once you arrive back at the Golden Horn, it is a pleasant surprise to find that premium lodgings and a most excellent meal have already been taken care of. It seems that you have the entire evening to clean yourselves up and enjoy the hospitality of one of the finest inns in all of Khorvaire...

True to her word, Lady Elaydren is waiting on you in the common room at the crack of dawn, resplendent in her blue, shimmering, glamerweave gown. Silver glints in her hair and all sorts of glittering adornments flash as she rises from her table and moves across the tavern. Close on her heels is a formidable-looking warforged made of mithral armed with a massive shield bearing the mark of House Cannith and a rather wicked looking mace hanging at its belt. The handful of other patrons present pay more mind to the warforged than they do the Lady, but no one stares for long as a cool glance from the guard does much to remind them to mind their own affairs.

"Did you succeed?" she asks, barely able to contain her excitement...

Solomon's request for a stairway was met with the sweetest smile Ky could manage without outright laughing. Had there still been proper and functioning stairs, she was not about to spend hours hunting for them, not when they had a perfectly serviceable rope. Instead she merely lead them back to where they had descended. A look of dismay and grump from the dwarf did give her a moment of pity as she prepared a simple loop for him to lock his foot into while the rest climbed and then hoisted him up. Ky was rather prepared for repeated complaints the entire way back, but even that could not damper her relief of the escape into even the gloom of the world above.

They stunk, and looked a mess, and she knew it, though this was not her first episode with being utterly a disaster, thus the looks and mutters were merely met with a blank look of incomprehension as to why any would be disturbed by the state the group was in. Her long suffering patience was well rewarded when they finally made it back to where they were to be, as not only was their food and drink, but the most decadent baths that Ky had experienced, quite possibly in her life, not that she would admit it. By the time she had emerged once more to join the others in meals, drinking and overall recaps of their little mess, one might say she near glowed. Scrubbed clean, hair actually free in light waves over her shoulders and a bright, honest smile.

The crack of dawn came far too soon for Ky's liking, though she managed to both rise and be ready at just the time as was needed to join the others as they made their way to see if indeed Lady Elaydren would be there or not. That she was, was in all honesty no surprise, it was more the warforged at her side, a sight that instinctively caused Ky to tense and almost reach for something sharp and pointy, something she managed to avoid carrying through with as it registered that the thing was WITH the Lady.

"Does he have to stand that close..." Barely a mutter as Ky did her best to remain nonchalant despite the fact that she would like to avoid being around warforged type for a while, coupled with that, the little whisper of paranoia, could you even trust any of the things? "So it was a bit messy down there, but I take it we have you to thank for the ability to clean up before seeing you again?" Ky glanced at Kova and waited on his next move in actually answering and handing over what they had procured, though she was more interested in looking for signs of payment on hand.

The Journey UpwardKova scurried up the rope with some Took a point in Climb newfound skill and enjoyed the fresh air of the Cogs (relatively speaking). The halfling viewed with some alarm the audience that had gathered during their foray, but breathed a thankful sigh of relief when Skokum showed up to distract and divert. "Tolchuk neezha foru massk, Skokum!"Dhakaani -- The direct translation would be regarded as rather unpleasant in most cultures, but the gist was thanks and praise for their benefactor.*

Kova clung to the gunwale of the skycoach and gazed eagerly up, down, and about. If heights had ever been a problem for the halfling, the phobia had faded fast with his mastry of Featherfall. Eagerly he pointed out various features of the city around him, either asking about or explaining them to his various companions, whether or not they exhibited any knowledge or interest. Touching down at the Golden Horn, Kova hurried inside, judging that there would be just enough time for a quick late-lunch, a few drinks, and a bath before supper. All the while, he kept the schema on his person or, in the tub, within arm's reach.

After a fulfilling meal and some more time with his new-found friends, Kova judged again there would be just enough time to study up on his spells before bed. In this, he was thankfully correct and spent from late night to late morning slumbering like a tired halfling.

The Lady ElaydrenKova joined the rest of the group late and ordered breakfast as the Lady Elaydren entered. It surprised him (and perhaps shamed his halfling propriety a little) that Ky got in the first thank you for the meals and accomodations, and he quickly echoed the sentiment. But the Lady seemed eager to cut to the schema.

Kova produced the item from inside his coat and placed it on the table, in plain sight of the lady, but more within the reach of his own companions. "But of course we did, my lady! And a fascinating trip into Sharn's distant past it was! There were some ancient traps and terrors of course, but nothing our stalwart team here couldn't handle. Our friends who serve the Lord of Blades made a reappearance as well... but they wore a different coat of arms," at this Kova cast a meaningful glance at the Lady's Warforged companion. "I say this as a warning to you that taking possession of your prize might invite further attacks on your person. Nothing that your associate here couldn't handle though, I don't doubt." He drained his cup of fruit juice with the same swagger with which a smuggler might drink down a shot of whisky. "And now... on the subject of our reward?"

Ghir'Was Breaker of bladesGhir'Was was silent through the journey back. He helped carry what he could, and to haul what other's could not. The task was finished, the hunt over... It was time to rest.

During the morning meeting, he examined the warforged. Sizing it up, perhaps it was a worthy challenge one day. Another fight like the one with the former lord of blades would be welcome! Still he said little, and cared less. Baubles and coin meant little to Ghir'Was Breaker of blades. They were simply things that helped to complete hunts, not to be fawned over.

Solomon Salt
The time spent from they left the dead mechanism that had been Saber till they was shown to their private quarters in the Golden Horn was a fiercer and harder test to the dwarf than what they had been through since they started their descent.

No! He had said with growling determination when Ky had mistreated and failed to meet his simple and humble request to find a suitable exit. There had been an argument and Solomon had been faced with the dilemma of seeing Kova and Ky shimmy up the rope with the prizes taken (and he was sure never to see them again, once he found the bloody stairs) or being hauled up like a bucket of well-water. He had of course seen the reason, but not after considerable amounts of grating growling.

Skokum is a thieving bastard. The dwarf had grunted as he had been held back by the Purified of the Silver Flame. Had the calm of the paladin not sunk into the dwarf, the humiliation of the ‘dwarf-hauling’ had been the tip on the scale that would have sent Solomon in a spinning flail after the goblin. There was no real reason for that, though. Skokum had been true to his words and while Solomon might not have liked it, he had to admit that the way pointed out had been the way that ultimately led them to the schema. Rubbish. We would have found our way without his directions.

Gulp! Dwarves were not meant to be flying. They were solid, steady and stout people that thrived well with both feet on the ground. The rapidly ascending airship was not to his liking and as the change in light was a constant flicker of shadows and sun, Solomon’s face had lost all colour and he stood stiff and still by the railing, focusing will power to avoid throwing up.

Finally, back at the Inn and past the insolent greenskin bar keeper, Solomon could loosen his armor, gauntlets and lay down his weapons. He had ordered a small cask of beer brought with him to the room and he now tapped it open and guffed down the first mug of the heavenly fluid in mere seconds. The second followed just as rapidly and he poured himself a third to accompany him for the hard work that had to be done before he could get rest: All spots and stains on armor, shield, axe and other weapons needed carefully removal, oiling, waxing and sharpening. It took him several hours and the rest of the cask. When he rose from the table, he was feeling a little bit dizzy, but he decided that it had to be lack of proper beer and decided to go seek out another cask...

Youz.. he bubbled at the horc behind the counter, toothmouth! I need another cazk of ale, and don’t pour any of that vile *burb* poizon into thiz one. Solomon slapped his chest with his knuckles, wincing a little at the pain, zo? What are you waiting for? I don’t got all night.

As it turned out, he had all night and that meant Solomon Salt got **** drunk and ended up being escorted - under much fuss and harassment - to his room by a half-orc. As he lay on the mattress and saw the spinning beams over his head come down on him in a threatening, nauseating way, he was sure that this would be his last day in Eberron. It had been a glorious day, but he was sad that it was the dreaded trio of his arch enemies, their cruel poison, and his favorite alcohol, combined that should be his end.

...

Pain. Absolute pain. Everywhere. Nausea and shame accompanied the agony in his head and guts with perfect, relentless strain. Solomon had fought the morning with a will to live that only dwarves could display and here he was, benched beside Ghir’was, looking out under a scowl as black and heavy as the hangovers that marred Solomon. He had nothing to say to the lady, and Kova did enough yapping for all of them already. So he just added a deep-felt sigh and a Hrmph!

Ky"So it was a bit messy down there, but I take it we have you to thank for the ability to clean up before seeing you again?"

Lady Elaydren d'Vown of House Cannith smiles and offers a slight shrug when Ky inquires of the arrangements for their rooms and tabs for the evening before. "My family brings the Golden Horn a lot of business," she says, downplaying her generosity on one hand while boasting on the other.
Kova"I say this as a warning to you that taking possession of your prize might invite further attacks on your person. Nothing that your associate here couldn't handle though, I don't doubt. And now... on the subject of our reward?"

"It would not be the first time, nor would it be the last," Elaydren says, glancing to her warforged guardian. "If there was not at least one attempt on my life during this visit to Sharn, I'd feel slighted." The tall, intimidating mithral construct turns his head to regard you all, and although you've cut down more than your fair share of warforged assassins these past few days, you still suppress a chill at the thought of tangling with this one.

Banter aside, Elaydren's excitement is barely contained as Kova presents the schema. Her eyes never leave the dark adamantine disk as she withdraws an envelope from her belt, sealed in wax with the heraldry of House Cannith pressed in. She presents the envelope on the palms of her hands, and it is borne across the table Or an invisible Mage Hand, rather...on an invisible breeze to land before Kova. With her other, she makes a beckoning motion and the schema slides across the table into her eager grasp! She gives you all a look of gratitude before she lifts the item to inspect it, uttering a She casts Identify, if you can discern such things.single arcane word... and is awe-stricken. While she is lost in her amazement, you pry up a corner of the envelope to find a letter of credit from Refresher: Dragonmarked Dwarven BankersHouse Kundarak which will allow you to withdraw your agreed upon amount. The woman is good to her word!

For a long, speechless moment, she just stares at the dark adamantine disk as if it were the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. Then, as if snapping out of a spell, she looks up as if surprised - and perhaps a little embarrassed - to find your eyes upon her. Hastily, she deposits the schema into what can only be an extra-dimensional pocket at her belt.

"You have done Bonal Geldem's memory a justice and perhaps averted a catastrophe by preventing this from falling into the wrong hands. Whatever the Lord of Blades is planning, it cannot bode well for the rest of Khorvaire. You have my thanks... and the thanks of my house."

The Envelope, Please...Kova drew the bank note from the envelope and smoothed it out on the table for all to see. The lady was as good as her word, for there on the note was scribed: 2,000 galifars. "Why my share should be most useful for my continued studies and for outfitting myself for whatever the Wayfinders have in store for me next..." Kova looked expectantly around the table. Arrun already seemed a hundred miles away, though his attention span had never been that impressive. Ghir'Was looked like the satisfaction of slaying the Lord of Blades' envoy was already wearing off, and Solomon... well Solomon looked like he might need a recovery period before his interest in further exploits could be gauged. Finally his eyes settled on Ky and he was unable to resist a smile. "Or should I say what the Wayfinders have in store for us next?"

Holding up the bank note, Kova went on. "This and the gold bars we found should be neatly divisible by five to a sum much better than the 300 promised by Captain Marta... Captain Marta!" the wizard exclaimed with a jolt. "She'll still be expecting Taurac's Hammer! I hope she doesn't hang us by our heels over the Hilt when we turn up empty-handed!" Of course Kova still had featherfall in his back pocket, but it was the principle of the thing, really.

Solomon Salt
Needless to say, Solomon wasn’t surprised that they had been cheated. He just wished he had been holding back enough to act on it this day. He knew that if he started moving his body and get his blood pumping, the pounding of goblin drums in his head would start all over again and destroy him. Instead he edged closer, his scowl taking in the envelope that most definitely did not hold valuables, Wealth in paper and ink is the toys of fools. Not even the fact that Kova the trickster was so overly happy with it, could soothe the grumpy dwarf, This should be converted to gold, my fine lady...

He could see Kova already shaking his head at him and his mind wandered on the possibilities, All things considered... cheaty paper is better than nothing at all, after all. He glowered at the people on the other side of the table - Lady Elaydren d'Vown included - and was about to throw another insult. Then his eyes caught the flaming sigil of House Kundarak and he swallowed his words, Psh.. Guess we can do with the paper then... he murmured and started edging back on the chair again.

As the lady invested all her energy and appreciation to the schema, Solomon followed Kova’s yapping. He frowned at the mention of the hammer. The lady had said they weren’t supposed to go looking for that anyway, but... Hammers come in surprisingly many forms and uses. Maybe we weren’t looking for a smith’s hammer or a hammer for battle? What if some fool named the relics we found, that looked more like, say maces, a hammer? Solomon looked pointedly at Ky who had pocketed the strange purple-headed mace. Solomon knew maces. He knew hammers, but he also knew that a lot of people (most of them not included in the dwarven race) could have trouble differentiating...

Ghir'WasSeveral hours later....

Ghir'Was breaker of blades was wandering the back streets, looking for equipment for whatever adventures this new pack brought forth. Still something weighed heavily on his mind. There was only vermin, and soulless iron to hunt. This could possibly mean that Ghir'Was breaker of blades no longer courted the gaping maw, she who hunts death. Ghir'Was breaker of blades was worried that he might have fallen out of favor, perhaps only garbage was being sent to in the path of his hunts. Ghir'Was breaker of blades would need a good kill, to find something worthy to slaughter soon...

She listens. She answers.

"Hey mongrel..."

*Sniffing the air.* Two, no three humans. Oil and rust, unclean weapons, new armor? It will not save them...

"You best hand over your purse, we don't take kindly to beasts in our streets."

Ghir'Was has your scent, there is a clicking noise... crossbow?

"Now be a good dog..."

A leap. The weight of Ghir'Was crushed the first man's ribs as he landed on him. Teeth bared, already tearing at his throat. The change began...

*Thwip!*

Bolt, missed... nerves effecting aim. A deadly mistake. Death would find him next.

"Wha... Arrh!!"

The first one found his courage, a companion already dead. A second would die soon. He stabs out with a short sword, a coward, never expecting a fight. Ghir'Was breaker of blades is already changed. The sword finds air, and Ghir'Was finds the shooter.

"Blessing no... GEORG..." His words cut off with an axe buried in his skull. Ghir'Was roars in defiance!

Too quick! TOO QUICK!!!

In his lumbering form, Ghir'Was is a massive agent of doom. His long shadow is cast across the final would be thief. The man stumbles, fear replaces courage, greed is replaced by prayers to a God that will not answer. He runs.

The gentle whooshing sound of the axe flying through the air betrays the reality of the force and anger behind it. It takes his arm off at the shoulder. The man is still alive and screaming when Ghir'Was breaker of blades finds him. The slow walk to his final prize is meant so the huntress of moon and sun can taste his fear. When Ghir'Was breaker of blades turns him over, he is white, and near death. Ghir'Was bites out his throat. Ends the hunt.

When the city guard finally respond it is a scene no one wishes to recall. Three men. Heads all neatly arranged near the bodies, but the scalps are gone. A painting scrawled in blood on the closest building is of a creature with a mouth that is impossible to fit all of the depicted teeth.

Perhaps she still favors him... perhaps.
