Well, there's a couple of tools I've been tinkering with. Complications are one, and I have a half-baked table I'll expand as playtesting continues to incorporate more options.

I also currently use the PESTLE model (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental) for developing notes on new realities. That will hopefully make changes more focused when it comes to spinning out alternate realities. One of my concerns for Jaunt is that a lot of hopping around different realities can potentially put a lot of strain on the Guide to have to pull out new wads of notes, so hopefully things can be kept less convoluted.

Ohh! Do keep us posted on that, I'm interested! Unless it's more of a behind the GM screen thing that might not be appropriate to discuss during active play. Your post just now made me realize that the current document is really mostly for the players. I think there might be a lot that goes into becoming a Guide for Jaunt, which I hadn't begun to consider, but as a game system, some guidance on becoming the Guide might make for a good idea.

There is a book for Guide rules, but it's very WIP and incomplete in many parts, one reason why I'm keeping it close to my chest.

Also, I've been thinking about something: so, since the characters have visited Tou's reality, are they like... infected too now? (not considering Aisha and her android privilege) Or at this point the infection phase is well over and only the changes it prompted remain?
Even if they aren't infected, I imagine the doubt would be enough to make the study of the infection a priority, desire to save the world aside (and in the meantime Agni has been surely eating from a food stash from other realities and purifying the hell out of water with his powers ).

That is a question that has crossed my mind as well. I certainly haven’t answered it myself. It might be an interesting idea for the GM to keep in his back pocket. But to be honest “are we vulnerable to all the microorganisms of each new reality we hop to?” seems like a can of worms that we absolutely don’t want to open ourselves up to. That is, unless every Jaunt narrative goes “You hop; your immune system is not prepared for this reality’s mutation of dysentery; you die”.

Or alternatively, "We're carriers of an unknown disease and are gonna contaminate any reality we put a foot on."

I do wonder though. Have we actually already gotten into the practice of bringing our personal food stash into new realities? If we haven't been doing that, this might be the prompt to start doing it.

Well, Agni could have learned some best practice from Hypatia herself, but yeah, this new revelation may crank up that healthy paranoia.

And Aisha should carry an alternator around, you never know Thinking about it, something Agni can specifically recharge with his powers would quite handy.

True, I think that part is something we probably would have squared away. Nobody will want to carry around a lifeless Aisha.

Agni could have made a provisional battery with Creator, and now we could size the opportunity of the bazaar to find a more permanent solution.

My default on whether the others would be infected at the moment was 'no'. More than anything else, it just didn't feel interesting. But feel free to play up the paranoia of not knowing whether or not you breathed in some xeno-particles.

You can narratively have a battery that works with Aisha, something that helps her recharge and rest during a pit stop for example. It wouldn't be a Utility right out the gate, but sure, you can declare carrying something like that.

Last question to everyone: do we still have RayJay's car or it has been destroyed during the "purple trees" accident? Perhaps we found another one in the meantime? Transportation aside, it'd quite handy to carry stuff around.

I think the rules preclude us from starting with something better than the lowest-tier jauntbox. But also, I think the jaunt car from Mike's backstory belonged to a foursome of villains, not RayJay, and if I didn't misunderstand the car that RayJay asked Mike to enter was just a normal car.
