1190 After Death

1190 A.D.
Jerusalem is easy to find, go to where the men speak Italian, then continue until they speak something else.

Application Process - OPEN

God Wills It
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Be brave and upright, that God may love thee.
Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death.
Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong; that is your oath.

The Dark Ages may be over but Europe is still very much a perilous land. Troves of bandits roam freely, war is constant, and the feudal system is merciless to the common man. Papal representatives and other religious fanatics scour the countryside seeking out those unfortunate enough to be deemed heretics, often burning them at the stake or worse. However, the Lords of Europe are once again occupied on the Holy Land. The Germans, led by Frederick I Barbarossa, have already heeded the Pope's call to reconquer the Levant and have set out with a great army. The English, under King Richard I, and the French, under King Phillip II, for once are not each other's throats, instead turning their attention to the Third Crusade. Both nations have been raising enormous funds and soldiers in order to wage what is expected to be a costly expedition. With the departure of many nobles and military age males, those forces and lords left behind will surely be in search of outside help. While Europe's eye is fixated on Jerusalem, who knows what opportunities will present themselves to adventurers.
