@PIG I am having trouble thinking of a secret that would be more than the one(s) touched upon in the main background. Also, I am bouncing back and forth between having Malik be a Hungry Ghost Monk rather than the Monk of the Four Winds. His experiences re the Pesh Addiction lends itself well to the former, but the latter seems to fit well in a setting of genies and elements and the like. (I'd have stacked them but they overlap re:Punishing Kick & Elemental Fist)
What are your thoughts? |

@AusFly: I think you went with the right choice between Cavalier and Ranger, at least to start. Cool app.

@AusFly: If our characters interact... it's gonna be hilarious.

@Sparkie Thanks! It was a hard choice, that's fer sure. And I dig Basil, cool character.
@Frgoman I'm not so sure hilarity describes it, per se. Frogs have a long history of eating flies, not a concept I'm fond of. Ahah. |

Yup, that is good. Order of the Land Cavalier is a really sweet choice. Elegant way to make a desert warrior.
I shall have to rite gud to come up with my own worthy application. On the subject of Cavalier Orders, does anyone have that new book, Pathfinder Player Companion: People of the Sands? It has desert stuff, unsurprisingly. It has a new Cavalier Order in it, one for knights of atheist Rahadoum called Order of the First Law. It is the suicide option for people who find PF too easy. Look at this awesome ability: |

I have to say sir, this looks beautiful. I'm definitely applying.
I'll be working on this for awhilet. Work In Progress Name: Kasim al-Dīn Race: Suli Class: Magus, Elemental Knight Racial Archetype, Staff Master Archetype Picture: Music: Through Heaven's Eyes in times of peace, Holy War in times of conflict. Traits: Gnoll Killer, Strength of the Sun Appearance and Personality: Some say it is only legend that Suli are descended from Jann... but any who so claimed would feel to be an utter fool, were they sitting around Kasim's firelight. The man's skin was blacker than obsidian, and the flicker of firelight came alive upon his brow, seeming to burn with a new life. The silks he swathed himself to keep away the desert heat were a deep blue, reminiscent of storms in the seas to the north; the same storms reflected in his eyes. He smelled strong enough of cinnamon and rich loam that the scents wafted even over the scent of the cookfire, while his lacquered nails clicked softly on the side of his cup. It was anyone's best guess what he was thinking about, seeking answers in the flames... his eyes never left the fire. Few asked Kasim's opinion on most things- he was quiet, and preferred his own internal world to that outside his body. He knew what he did not know, and so provided counsel only when asked, or if he deemed it absolutely necessary. His silence was a welcome companion on most journeys- too many pretended to care for those they did not know beyond their outer shell. Sometimes, Kasim wondered if he truly followed Sarenrae for her cause, or if it was simply the course best suited to his nature. Perhaps he would never know.

People of the Sands is out nowish. There is a new Oracle archetype for elementalists, you get Elemental Form at level 11 which means things like a permanent fly speed or Tremorsense. There is a new Sorcerer bloodline, the Div which is powerful and nasty, focusing on destroying and ruining things by causing Staggerred and has the Earthquake spell and the Save DCs go up if you cause damage on spells. There is an extraordinary new trait called Trapfinder. It's a bit tough on the poor Rogue, to say the least: |

I've decided to start over and make a more Light-hearted character. I've decided I'm better at those.

As for the secret, maybe the old man that killed his mother was a drug lord and Malik would be murdered if it was found out that he was the one that killed him. The secret doesn't have to be immense or earth shattering. It could be a regretted slight or a missed oportunity of a kiss with a long lost crush. I had someone here have a secret concerning their true alignment on the inside and the battle they have with it. You can back away from the background and work on something entirely independent for your character. That would give the character dimension, I think. Human beings are a tangle of various events colliding into one and then expanding back outward. Many of those threads of that tangle rarely have to be anything related. Just kick back and have fun with it. Make it a small secret if that's easier. It could mean little to the world but mean the world to Malik. Hungry Ghost Monk = Pesh Addiction VS Monk of the Four Winds = The Setting of genies and elements and the like I don't see any problem either way really. The Four Winds actually ties into the module in a lot of ways and I can still see him as a Pesh Addict. The 20th level advancement of Immortality is just insane neat. I think I like the Four Winds Monk a little more, personally. ------------------------ Answer to Invalid User in secret: ------------------------ Quote:
Choose your song if you can is all I have to say. Also, if you are chosen, I will have all players refrain from using color for speech. Great job, dude. ------------------------ Quote:

On Maps
Just a note on what the maps will look like. The module uses your standard 5' square grid. I'll be using their maps in conjunction with Adobe Illustrator to conduct combat. Players will be represented by tokens with the first letter of their name. Enemies will be tokens represented numbers. This will ensure simplicity with all that goes on in D&D battling. I will also try my best to simulate what the players can and can not see due to obstruction by physical barriers or lack of illumination. It's an experimentation so I might drop it once we test it out in actual combat. It really helps make it more realistic but I'm wondering about time constraints from using it. For example: The dotted red lines represent line of sight of two characters. What ever is in black is something you can't see because of walls or something equally large. When there is darkness then I'll be taking into account darkvision, torches, dimness, and darkness. The Yellow Square represents someone with a light source. The Red Square is the center of the radius that the character is holding the light on. This is a typical 15' radius of light with 30' of dim light. The Red Square will go to the upper right hand corner by default. The player can choose to move that light around to the three other squares by asking, which illuminates other corner. This can come in handy with things like traps or if you are bound to one location: Here is another example: Again, I might not keep all these features. It depends on RL time and how good I get at applying them. Anything like bushes or statues still give concealment but I will not apply these block outs for them. If you walk into a forest I would have a hell of a time blocking every damn limb lol. You'll just have to use your imagination for that one. Last edited by PIG; Jan 20th, 2014 at 10:36 AM. |
