My music is not for you to drink by and waste your life inside of a cup whilst other put their lives on the line to protect you from the dark. I am Va'shari and my songs are for war. The Va'shari, the warrior orchestra of the armies of Zohten. Their melodies control the tide of warfare, amplified over the battlefield to give orders and formation, to inspire and to rally. The dance of war ebs and flows on their notes. A rising rhythm to an earth-shattering crescendo. Then, as the day is won, it is not fanfare that rings out, but the slow meloncolic mourning crawl to remember and pay tribute to those who fell. Or it was once... The country fell. A massacre to the bugbears in the south as they swarmed over their castle-city. A feral army that cares nothing for the rhythm of the world. Their kind know only chaos, and chaos holds no rhythm. From their post high above the battlefield, the Va'shari were spared the fate of their battle brethren and the city folk beyond the walls. A hand full remain, and one such Va'shari now finds himself wandering...lost... purposeless... RP Sample: Fingers interlocked over his drink, making a shelf for his chin to rest upon. His eyes, closed. It helped Vo to block out the world and in particular, the old man. The old man had been persistent for the last hour. A constant badgering that would drive a lesser man to violence. "Come on, bard. Play us a song. Come oooooon." wined the old drunk. His breath was a cocktail that only the strongest drinker would be able to keep down. Well, the strongest drinker or a youth new to the world of drinking and thinking such a feat would impress his friends...but only moments later, to realise such regret. "I have told you, Old Patron. I am no bard. Leave me." "One song. Come on. Our bard's out cold. Play the one...you know...Gilbert's Girl." "No." "The Cat and the Maid?" "No" "Tuesday's a Day for Kissing?" "Look, Old Patron. I say, one million times. I am no bard. Now leave me!" The old drunk may have been persistent, but he had at least been cheerful. Yet now his eye's became puffy and his lower lip rolled and quivered. "Fine." he blubbered. "who wants to play for a worthless drunk solider anyway. Too fat for armour and too old to protect anyone." Vo looked to the side to studied the drunk, and soon a realization came. Such loneliness, such despair. This man had not long been part of the world of drowning oneself in alcohol, but it seemed he had no means of escaping it's bottomless abyss. "A solider, you say?" Vo's voice, where usually flat now had a mote of intrigue. "Aye. Not that you could tell now." He said as he drove a finger into his pudgy belly. Indeed the drunk's body had seen better days, but there was still muscle there, lost under months of neglect. "You are from Skolund. East Valley. 2nd regiment." It was not a question, but a list of observations delivered with the utmost confidence. "Uh, yeah. How you k.." "I know many thing...Very well Old Patron. I will play for you. But not for your entertainment. I play for your victory." The last word was a dramatic flurish that brought life to the tiefling's eyes. The drunk on the other hand, his eye's narrowed in confusion and his brow furrowed down. "Come. We go." Vo rose and walked across the room to Yagra, the Half-Orc, pounding back an oversized flagon. "Yagra. This old patron challenges you to an arm wrestle. The wager is 5 gold. One condition, you must be deafened. Do you accept?" The briefest of glances was given to size up the old man, which was followed with a low chuckle. "Heh, of course. Easy money." She growled. Meanwhile the old man was dumfounded. How was he to beat a huge Half-Orc in an arm wrestle? "You will follow my direction. Listen close and you will win. Then you buy my drinks this evening. Do you understand?" The old man nodded meekly. "Good. Now." he pulled out his violin and tapped the table with his bow. The combatants, Yagra full of confidence, the old man wide-eyed confused, sat and placed their wager. "Wizard. If you will." The whole tavern had become dead still as the absurd proposal was announced. The wizard at the next table needed no further instruction as she cast the deafness spell upon Yagra. Vo places his hands of the interlocked knot of muscle and looked deep in to the old man's worried eyes. "Now. Follow my lead. You will win. " He squeezed on the clenched fists. 3, 2, 1...Deafened she may be, the half-orc, a veteran of shows of strength, needed no direction to when to start pushing. 1...the old man pushed with all his might, yet to no avail as his hand started to be slowly pushed back. 1...Vo's bow came to the strings. It was a simple pattern, more a marching beat than melody. Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm, Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm. "Follow Old Patron. Clench Clench Puuuuush Hold, Clench Clench Puuuuush Hold" The riff repeated, and the old man, unbelieving to his own eyes, stopped giving ground. Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm, Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm. No other sound was to be heard, only the violin and the strains of two fighters. Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm, Vrum Vrum Vruuuuu VrUm. Both combatants arm's were now back straight. Vagra could hardly believe that she had not yet snapped the old man's arm in two. "Good, Old Patron. Now..." Then the music changed, the pace quickened. What was before a march was now a wild chase. "I...I...know this." grunted the old man. "Yes. It is your country's hunting song. Remember the day it was first played for you. Your first hunt. Your blooding. You became a man." The old man gave a soft whimper and for but a second his breathing stopped. The memories, they were so vivid. He was dashing through the Westridge Forest. His hand on his bow string. The bear was trying to escape, wounded. It was injured, it wouldn't get far. He ran and ran, the music pushing him onwards. His mind came back to the tavern, and for the first time in the bout he looked into Yagra's eyes. Why, if he could take down a bear, why could he not slay this Half-Orc? The old man's eyes hardens and every muscle in his body pushed in unison. The old man, was taking ground. Vo nodded his approval. The old man was doing well. He resumed his simple marching strokes, yet now they were stronger, reverbing victory. VRUM VRUM VRUMVRUMVRUM VRUUM, VRUM VRUM VRUMVRUMVRUM VRUUM "You do well old man. Your wife would be proud." "Ah....She's...gone....died" he panted, his arm moving back towards centre point with his mournful revelation. "No." the music stopped instantly, and the bow whipped to the man's heart. "She is here. Always." VRUM VRUM VRUMVRUMVRUM VRUUM, RUM VRUM VRUMVRUMVRUM VRUUM continued the violin. "She was happy old patron. I see this. The lines on your face. They are not of stress. These are the lines of joy, from excess smiles. I see. She lived long. You protected her." Vo's voice was flat, he was only listing facts. Facts need not be spoken with emotion. The emotion was for music. It now changed. Beautiful, loving, soothing. "I know ...this song....We loved...this song..." Vo knew so. Given the man's age, his country, it was was simple enough to know what this song would stir him. The song continued, and Vo needed say no more. It swept up the old man and every thought that went through his mind traveled softly. Every loving memory of his wife, every time she had smiled at him, every walk they shared. He saw himself, in his memory, it was only 3 months ago. He was a different man, not this sorrowful drunk. That man, that man 3 months ago, he could still swing a sword, he could still fit in armour. He was still useful. The old man grit his teeth until it felt like they would shatter upon each other. Every muscle was as tight as an owlbear's. He glared at the Half-orc , who for the first time in years knew fear. The old man started to growl, deep and beastial. Then the music changed. It was strong, triumphant and it was rising. "I. DON'T.KNOW.THIS.ONE!" he roared, his eyes white hot spheres of pure intent. "No. This is your song! I will never play again. This is yours!" "AAAAARRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The old man, transformed, pushed with all his might. The song was now deafening, electrifying. Nothing else moved in the tavern save a screaming old man and his violin accompaniment. Crescendo. "AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! Silence. Victory. The old man was speechless, one for the sheer unbelievable act he had accomplished and two for the fact he was panting like never before. "Oi! You mustav cheated. No magic, not fair! grunted the Half-orc, her accusing finger outstretched to Vo. "No magic here. Only...inspiration." he said plainly. The wizard, who like the rest of the patrons, was dumfounded, yet had the minimum amount of sense to nod in affirmation. "Good. Now." he helped the old man come to his feet. "You buy me drink, Old Patron." The old man could hardly get his words out between breaths. "No....no drink for me. I...I'm going...to the Watch...I'll enlist...Thank you..." A brief smile crept across Vo's never changing face. "Good. Now. Yagra, we drink. I explain why you loose..." Character Intent: I intend for Vo to play his violin constantly through battle, changing his song as the battle itself changes. His spells and abilities will be triggered by riffs and throat singing. I'm hoping the imagery will give a cinematic feel to combat.

Name: Bellandra Lonas Race: Feral tiefling Class: Cleric - Peace Domain 2/Bard - College of Swords 11 Background: Waterdhavian Noble Trait: Despite my noble station, I don't place myself above other folk. The circumstances of our birth does not reflect our true character. Trait: I care a lot about my appearance, it all has to be perfect. Some call me vain, but it's part of my devotion to Sune. Besides, if you got it, flaunt it. Ideal: What is beautiful points us to what is good and true. But the ugliness in the world must always be confronted. Bond: I have a family name and honor to uphold and family secrets to protect, as well as a devotion to Sune to uphold. Flaw: I have an insatiable desire for carnal and other pleasures. I can't help it, it's literally in my blood.   Bellandra's demonic heritage is very obvious at first glance. Her skin is crimson red, she has a pair of backward-curling horns on her head, pointed ears, red eyes, a pair of large, bat-like wings sprouting from her shoulder blades, and a long tail that ends in a spear-like point. While many tieflings try to disguise or downplay their demonic heritage, Bellandra openly flaunts it, among other things. Despite, or possibly because of her demonic heritage she's quite attractive, a trait inherited from her demonic mother. Long, black hair frames her face and tumbles down her back, typically worn loose but sometimes tied back. She's a bit on the tall side, just under six feet, with a curvaceous build that she has no shyness about showing off. Bellandra favors light clothing, white with dark red trim being her usual, while wearing leather armor for battle. She speaks in sultry tones and usually has a smile that is an equal mix of joyful and mischievous. A very artistic tattoo of the holy symbol of Sune covers her back between her wings and she dresses to show it whenever she can. She's also fond of jewelry and other decoration but knows that less is more and keeps it subtle and tasteful rather than gaudy.   Bellandra is the daughter of Sir Matthias Lonas, paladin of Torm from the Great Dales. Gifted with the power of the divine since his youth, he rose quickly through the ranks of Torm's paladins. In time he found himself leading a crusade into the ashes of Thay against many agents of evil, including a warlock who trafficked with a number of demons for his power. This warlock was thwarted at every turn by Sir Lonas and his companions, and frustrated with trying to overcome him by force, elected for more subtle methods. The warlock summoned a succubus and bound her to his service, giving her the task of seducing and corrupting the paladin, destroying the threat from within. Grudgingly she did as she was commanded, taking on the form of a peasant woman and charming a group of ogres into "capturing" her, setting herself up to be rescued by the knight and his companions. They were handily capable of the task, and the succubus, still in her disguised form, began to court the paladin out of gratitude for her rescue, using a number of magics at her disposal to hide her true, demonic nature from his divine senses. The paladin proved to be very difficult to get close to. The succubus spent many years at his side, trying to win his heart, and in the end succeeded. But what she learned in the process was unthinkable - she had spent so much time pretending to be good and pretending to love him that her feelings became genuine, and the paladin had in his own way seduced her. Knowing true love for the first time in her existence she found she could no longer serve evil, and confided in Matthias her true nature rather than betray him. To her surprise he already knew, but opted for another, more controversial response rather than simply smite her back to the hells. So long as he knew of her true nature he had little to fear from her influence, but saw an opportunity to score a true victory for the cause of good. Even as she had been trying to turn him to the side of evil, he had been trying to redeem her, and in the end, succeeded. The succubus betrayed her master to Sir Matthias and his companions, which was vital in the company destroying the warlock who by now had become a lich. With his long crusade over, Sir Lonas decided to retire from adventuring to start a family with his redeemed yet demonic bride who continued her facade for all but the paladin. Their life together seemed happy, even if some members of the church were unhappy about his retirement and suspicious of his wife, and before long they had a child together. Unfortunately their offspring bore the marks of her demonic heritage, and realizing things might be difficult in the Dalelands, they left for the Sword Coast in order to escape any judgement from the more rustic folk of the Dales. Bellandra was raised by her parents in spite of her unusual heritage, as the more eclectic and open nature of Waterdeep was a bit more accepting of her nature than the Great Dales. Sir Lonas's reputation as a famed adventurer and vast wealth earned over an adventuring career didn't hurt, and the family soon found themselves part of the Waterdeep nobility, though the family disdained the political play that often goes on among those nobles. Bellandra's demonic heritage was blamed on a death curse from the warlock Sir Lonas had slain and her mother's nature was kept a secret. Her father tutored her in the ways of Torm, teaching her to fight and defend others, though she never grasped the divine spark that infused her father. At least not from Torm. However as she was a living example of the ideal that love truly could conquer all, she found herself in the favor of Sune, whose worship her mother had taken up. She was admitted to the Temple of Sune in Waterdeep to study as an acolyte, well and devoted to the cause of love as she knew of the true natures of her parents and knew first-hand how powerful love could truly be. In time Bellandra found herself mixed up in an adventure with some other children of nobles tracking down a plot by one of the thieves' guilds to kidnap and hold them for ransom, turning the tables on the would-be kidnappers by bringing them to justice instead. She stayed with the other noble youths for a while, earning a reputation as a devotee of the goddess of love and beauty, leading her friends and allies in battles and helping overcome even the toughest foes. Over time her connection to Sune's divine power waned, but not her devotion. Rather than continue to pursue life as a cleric she turned to a more free-spirited lifestyle, spreading the word of Sune through song and deed as wanderlust took over her thoughts. She traveled with these other noble youths, some returning home in time while other folk joined their band, but in time all things end and eventually the company parted ways. Bellandra has been a traveling emissary of the church of Sune since then, using her charm to spread the word of the crimson-haired goddess. Most recently Bellandra has come north from Neverwinter, visiting several villages and small towns on the way to Luskan. She has been checking in with small temples of Sune in some villages and spreading the word in others. At one of the villages she performed a wedding ceremony and hosted the after party both, leaving the village a happy mess when she departed. But recently the villagers have been expressing sorrow and dismay. Some of their people have gone missing, and some villages have been hosting refugees from other villages that have been razed by a dragon. Determined to look into the cause of all this misery she has come to the town of Lumberton which seems to be the beast's most recent target. She knows she can't take on such a task alone and has been asking in the other villages for volunteers, but found none. Perhaps now though her luck has changed.   Bellandra doesn't really have one beyond continuing to spread the word of Sune in her wake. She just isn't the type to have long-term goals as she believes every day should be lived for itself. Usually a "long term" goal for her would be something that can be completed within a month at the longest. She's just a very "live in the moment" type.

Flavour Explore a long forgotten Wizard's lair with classic Dungeons & Dragons puzzles, traps and monsters; and they are prepared.

Plot Summary Warning: " This adventure was designed to be challenging and potentially lethal. Disclaimer: I did not design this adventure." Setting Player Hook - - Hundreds of years ago, a powerful archmage built a number of tremendously powerful magic items. Most of these items are lost, as are his laboratories. Gnomish spies, at great cost of life, have discovered notes and sketches that might indicate the location of a home of sorts for the historical mage. They also suspect another powerful agency knows of this discovery since several of the infiltrators were captured and it is possible further notes remained unfound. While this Wizard has been gone for hundreds of years, he was sure to have laid deadly traps and left powerful guardians, not to mention the possibility of a lycanthropic troop poking around. The local consortium of Arcane Magists request that you and a trio of well regarded adventures who recently slay a Green Dragon and cleared out his lair undertake this quest, and in return they may keep the minor items not listed upon the scraps of paper bought in gnomish blood. Info What am I looking for? Playerwise - Excitement. How's that? Yes, excitement, or more to the point a "want" to be in the game and genuine interest to RP the depths of your character as well as RPing with the other characters in the game. So, that's all I ask of you as the player. Be excited, and be invested. You do that, and I'll do that, and we'll have an awesome game. Also, be nice. Life is short, and we all get enough ugliness from others out in the real world. Site rules apply on conduct. DMwise - I want to continue to learn all the "ins and outs" of 5E, especially at higher levels and this game will continue to do just that. I want to get more familiar with the system, and aside from following "the rulebooks" you, the player can teach me as well. If I'm wrong on a ruling, I want to know. How else am I going to get experience in the system? If I think you're wrong with something, it means I'll let you know, especially if I'm not sure, and it will be a learning experience for one or both of us as we figure it out. In the end, a rule may be bent or ignored for the greater good of the story. But, that will be my call. Details Setting: Forgotten Realms Starting Level: 13 Classes needed: Looking one or two Players with Classes that don't overlap too much with the current three of the group. You may reroll that "second" one if it comes up a one again until it doesn't. If you get a third or fourth one on the 3rd and fourth 4d6, that's fate and you're stuck with them. You can alternate if you like as you level the character up, but it must be clearly stated when you do so, or you take the lowest. Alignments: Neutral or Good, but not true neutral Gear: Straight from DMG - 5,000 gp plus 1d10 x 250 gp, three uncommon magic items, one rare item, normal starting equipment. You may spend your gp at normal PHB prices for mundane items and common magic items at 100 gp per, including Healing Potions at 50 gp per. Pantheon: Forgotten Realms Multi-classing: Is allowed but limited to one. Main Class + Secondary Class. Also make it believable/PC-background relevant. Post Rate: Minimum of 1 a week as long as the "1" isn't consistent or stretched. This is very important as PbP is a LONG process. I am available most days during the week, and some on weekends. Party Size: Currently 3, looking to add 1-2 more. Resources: We will use RPGX for most everything including posts, sheets, and rolls. Will also be using Roll20 for maps. You don't need to really know how to use Roll20 so much, except to see enemies and understand the layout and mapping of the "dungeon." Applications What do I want in your app? Your typical app; Name, class, race, appearance, 5e background, two personality traits, ideal, bond, flaw. Post a pic of reasonable size, and be sure to add it again after you resize it to at least 250x250px, please so I can use it as a token on Roll20. A backstory that includes a few things: Their story, of course Their hometown/origin here in Faerun Why has your character decided to do this adventuring thing and how do they find themselves somewhere along the Sword Coast when called for? What is their over-arching goal? {Their goal does not need to be within the confines of this adventure, this can easily be a stepping stone in their journey. But having a driving force often brings more life into the character, I find.note} Q&A Question: I'm not all too familiar with the DnD Lore; apart from the pantheon, is there lore associated with Faerun that I need to be caught up on? Answer:You don't have to know much about the Forgotten realms lore for this game really. There will be references, and should travel go to a place your character is from or may have been, it will affect what they know. So it's really the regional stuff. In the PHB, it mentions different ethnicities and how they'd look, and names and such. That's all you'd really need to be generally familiar with. Any questions you have on this front, I'd be more than happy to give you links and info. Timeline Application Deadline - November 25th (10 PM CST) Yes, that's a week away. I may extend the deadline if the interest is low. Note: Character death is a possibility, and if it happens to your character, you will have the opportunity to either roll up another character, or step away and let someone else come in who put an app in before game start. Or... stay dead and read along waiting for your fellow adventurers to see if they can resurrect your character. Quick Q, I was thinking a wizard but wondering if the fairy or in forgotten realms, alot of Chult have Tabaxi .. so was curious since its FR if they exist as well?tabaxi races are part of the allowed sources (i just see a big list)? if not, then I might have to stick with the ole elf or tiefling

I have Volo's book, so Tabaxi, Aasimar, Firbolg, Goliath, Kenku, Lizardfolk, and Triton will be considered as well.
