I picked a background, but where are the ideals, bonds, etc?

@Alemar players are free to choose what class combination they see fit and I’ll make it work, so multiclassing is fine. There is no official ruling on things like Eldritch Knight etc so you’re going to have to make do with some old fashioned GM whimsy I’m afraid . In this case I wouldn’t expect a Fighter subclass to rock up at the Tower of High Sorcery to take the test or the wizards to take a particular interest in them doing so. However if you were to multi class into a class where spellcasting is a primary component of that class then that is a different story.
Either way, all I can say at this point is that a characters relation with the Mages of High Sorcery is catered for and dealt with in the game itself so at this point don’t worry too much about it when determining an initial character concept as we can deal with the finer detail in game once selections are made. Seekr34 not sure what the ask is here, you can create whatever ideals/bonds/flaws you like or choose from the approved sources? Jrod similarly to clerics, the class is permissible but there will be a prelude scene at the start of the game before the main adventure begins that will retell the story of how you came across your spell abilities.

They designed it so you don’t need to take the background, RossN, as long as you can take the ‘Initiate of High Sorcery’ feat (which the background gives you for free).

Oh man. I haven't read the Dragonlance Chronicles in a minute. Whether selected or not, this at least inspired me to get Autumn Twilight out of the library again.
I'm going to work on a kender Life cleric of Mishakal. Because there has been no spells, they were focused on more rudimentary medicine and herbalism up to this point.

Name:Damaris Bloodstone
Race: Human Class: Paladin Personality Traits:If someone is in trouble, I’m always ready to lend a hand Bond: I protect those who cannot protect themselves Ideal: Our lot is to lay down our lives in defense of others Flaw: I hide a truly scandalous secret that could ruin my family forever. Background: Knight of Solamnia Appearance: Standing at just short of 6 feet tall, Damaris is well-muscled and has an easy athletic grace about himself. He has red hair that is just to his shoulders, and he is attempting to grow the traditional Solamnic mustache but so far it is not coming in very well. You can see a faint scare that runs from the right side of his face across his eye to his left jaw. You can tell that it occurred sometime ago, but it is still there. He has piercing green eyes with gold flecks in them. Personality: Damaris has a very easy-going attitude. He is generally well liked by those around him and is quick to make friends. He studies the Oath and the Measure nightly and practices his other skills during the day. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of his sponsor Toren to become a Knight of the Rose Backstory: Damaris comes from a long line of knights. It is said that he’s family can trace their roots all the way back to the days of Istar. Damaris is not sure about all of that since books have never really been his strongest interest. He’s more interested in exploring the ruins around the family estates. Which are not large but there seem to be a great deal of ruins to investigate. It’s always been something Damaris asks his father about and always gets the same answer. “I’ll tell you when your older”At this point in Damaris’ life he figures that he’ll never be old enough to know the stories, so he goes about and makes them up himself. It is during one of these adventures when his uncle Toren shows up and plans to tell Damaris about a great battle that occurred many years ago. Toren is interrupted by Damars’ father who tells the two that dinner is ready and the time for stories will come later. That time has yet to come, now Damaris is now the Squire to Toren and they are heading off into the unknown. RP Sample: Damaris comes from a large family in the northern reaches of the Solmnia. He has 5 brothers and 4 sisters of which he is the youngest. Most of his family has gone on to join the Knighthood but not all of them. Most of his sisters have struck out on their own and will sometime come back to relate tales of their adventures. Damaris grew up on these stories of great adventures including some stories of his older siblings. Damaris’ closet friend is Corren. The two of them are closer than bothers and have been training together since before they really knew what they were doing. The two boys have always enjoyed challenging each other in various ways. Who could run the fastest, swim further into the nearby lake… etc. While exploring the local ruins around the keep. The two boys found a part of the wall that had fallen leading into a dark cavern. Damaris challenged Corren to go fist to see what lay beyond. Not one to turn down a challenge…as any good knight would accept. Corren went first without bothering to bring a torch to light his way. After a few minutes of not hearing anything but the echoing of his own voice calling for Corren, Damaris went in afterwards. Stumbling around in the dark for what seemed like forever, Damaris was finally able to hear a small cry for help further into the cave. Damaris decided to crawl on his belly since he couldn’t see beyond the tip of his nose. Eventually the sounds of Corren became louder. Damaris was able to locate Corren who had fallen down an unseen shaft. Damaris climbed down to help his friend and the two were both able to make their way out of the cave and back into the light. Unfortunately, because of his injuries Corren will never be able to walk again, but he has found that there is a spark of magic in his being. 1) What is it you would like to get out of the game? What kind of things appeal to you in a PbP game? I would like a game of high adventure with some character development along the way. 2) What sort of things do you not want to see in a PbP game? I do not need to see or read about vile acts against people or animals. I know that this is Dragonlance and set in a time of war but fade to black is perfectly acceptable to me in these cases. 3) What is it that made you want to apply to this game? I have been a huge DL fan since the early 90’s when my best friend introduced me to the original trilogy and have been reading them ever since. I am just gland that someone is picking up the mantle and running a DL game 4) Do you prefer PbP games that are predominantly focussed on combat, or predominantly focussed on role-play? Or a mixture of the two? I am looking for a mixture of the two playing styles. Last edited by keylan; Oct 30th, 2024 at 12:09 AM. Reason: Add info |
