[D&D-5e] Monster Hunter: Expedition to the New World

My previous message was a bit blunt but the detailed version is I realized I don't have great answers to questions because I am still struggling to make up my own mind with this concept. In my own self assessment, I am confident in my ability to put solid effort into managing one game with longevity in mind. That confidence falters when I am stumbling through the very presentation of it, moreover struggling to make firm decisions or offering clarity to questions asked. I'm holding myself accountable to that by withdrawing the idea.

That idea wasn't to use the Monster Hunter World as a catalyst for anything other than background information. In hindsight it would probably have been better to not include "Monster Hunter" in the game title. The exploration of an untamed, entirely new land mass of my own creation where the players would be the central figures in forging a new civilization of their own creation over the course of play was the idea. The Tale of the Five and the Sapphire Star were not part of my gameplan with this. I didn't want to be too derivative.

As for the Monster Hunter conversion rules, they were just something I came across but as I started to build the game board it became clear that there was going to be way more work, meta-playing and resource management than seemed worth doing in play by post. I just feel like players will get burned out with that, I know that I will get burned out with it so I hit a wall and decided if this was going forward, something needed to change.

Then I just went directly into making it a 2024 game, scrapping the Monster Hunter stuff. I have to admit a big part of that was this whole idea didn't seem to have a full group of interest. In the 5-6 confirmed territory I mean. I'm still pretty new here so I don't know how to gauge that. Off thread conversations indicated you need way more than a week sometimes to field interest. I just bought the 2024 books and it seemed like there was a lot of sway that direction from what I've read but I'm going to be honest: I don't really like the 2024 rules.

So that kind of sealed it for me. I made poor decisions on this and I don't want that to be the preface to the one game I'd like to run for a very long time. If I do find myself coming back to this with a better plan, those of you in this thread who expressed interest will be contacted before this thread is updated again.
