Opener for The Bandit Queen

[Fieldset=Character Creation:]Starting level: 10
Class: Any non-spell casting Paizo class. An archetype that removes all spells and spell-like abilities from a class is also acceptable.
Race: Any Core or Standard Paizo published race is allowed.
Money: 2k gold to spend on any mundane gear you like.
Uniques: So no magic means no magic weapons/items can be purchased only made through use, see hows it work section, and time. You all are some of the most elite warriors in the known world so you get to start with some unique equipment.
Weapon: Up to 32,000gp worth of custom magic weapon/s or amulet of mighty fists. One big one or spread up among multiple however you like.
Armor/shield: Up to 16,000gp worth of custom magic armor/shield or mobks robe and bracers of defense +2 to be spread how you like.
Item: One non-equipment magical item.

Content warningThis game will use ritual consumption of flesh as a major game mechanic, there will also be at least one instance of cannibalism at the start of the game. That's the only taboo content and is predominantly a product of the period I am wanting to run this in.

In the land of ice and snow
The campfire was little more than embers as Elder Burra sat across from the children of the Great Bear tribe and spat into the flame, the crone's saliva sizzling and sending up another gentle curl of smoke. The children had asked her to retell the story of the great heroes who had raised their tribe from obscurity to being the dominant power in the region nearly a thousand years ago and as was the Elder's way she wanted to ensure the mood was just right before she began. A sudden howl cried out beyond the skins of the tent and the old elf smiled, what few teeth remained worn down to nubs in her heavily wrinkled visage.

"Long ago, when my parents were merely children our tribe was much smaller than it is today. Times were harsher then, winters were colder and summers were shorter. Giants and dragons controlled the mountains and the great northern waters while hordes of wolves a thousand strong ran the plains looking for prey to grow their packs larger still. It was a time of danger unlike anything we know now and it was into this world that the great heroes of our tribe were born. Their story, however, starts with another."

Another howl of wind could be heard outside the tent and it neatly covered the quiet incantation the elder spoke, making the swirling of the smoke into the figure of a towering Orcish hunter all the more immersive. The hushed anticipation of the children was palpable even though many had heard this tale a dozen times or more. "Harruk Giantbreaker earned his name in his youth, taking his mighty stone club Skullcracker into the mountains and returning with the axes of three frost giants, and earned the title of chief not long after. He was seen as a brave and powerful leader but more important than that was his ability to spot talent and nurture it. By the time he had seen thirty summers he knew there was less time ahead of him than behind so he called upon those he knew would, given time, be able to lead our tribe to greater glory. He picked from Hunters and Gatherers alike with no bias and he offered to each of his Chosen a small chunk of his own flesh. That day changed the future of our tribe."

The hulking smoke figure split into several, each taking a new form and swelling to be even larger than the first as the Elder's minor magics wove them into the forms of the Chosen. "And it is that day that their story, our story, truly began..." The children listened, the Elder spoke, and the story of the Chosen, your story, was told once more.

About me, about this gameBeen playing and dm/gming tabletop games for closing in on twenty years ever since my veteran mom started playing with me, my brothers, and my cousins. I've played every edition of D&D and Pathfinder out there and 3.5/pf1e are my favorites due to complexity. I like cooking and that is combining with animist religious belief to become a mechanic of this game.

Expected GM post rate: tuesday/thursday/saturday/Sunday.

Role vs roll: This game will include tribe building and politics but it will also involve mountain raides and defending against massive enemies both in size and in number at times so matters how far in which direction you wish to pull.


Character optionsStarting level: 3
Classes: Only Paizo content. Banned: Wizard, alchemist, Arcanist, Investigator, vigilante, Cavalier, Bard, Magus, Occultist, Samurai, Ninja, Gunslinger* Any archetype that requires written language, is urban themed, or requires advanced knowledge to operate.
*: Bolt Ace archetype with spear throwers and slings/Slingstaffs instead of crossbows will be allowed.
Races: Core, standard, or advanced paizo race. Only ones not allowed are ones that dont fit the setting so alas no ice age cyborgs.
Point buy: 30, life is hard in the ice age so our heroes need to be a bit harder.

Special gear rule: only using mid to late stone age equipment. This means weapons are limited to stone, wood, bone, and (enchanted) ice. Weapon choices limited to These plus axes, spears, slings and slingstaffs, non-composite bows, clubs, staffs, darts, nets, and whips. Enchanted ice can make more complex weapons but will require craft (Ice Smith) and require a special ritual that costs 3k gold worth of special oils and herbs.
Armor: limited to non-metal materials.
Other gear: rope, digging and very basic wood, stone, and bone working material, clothing made of hides and furs or basic woven fibers, flint, knapping stones (equivalent of whetstones), tents, sleeping bags, non-masterwork backpacks, needles, stone cores, snowshoes, any other period appropriate gear.
Magic items: Exist but are extremely rare, someone with a belt of giant strength +2 is probably a chieftain or in larger tribes possibly one of their elite hunters. The pcs will have better opportunity than the average community member to obtain or create magic weapons so while you start below wbl it will reach parity pretty early on.
Alchemical items: medicines and tonics, herbs and plants, hunting aids only.
Other items: Keep the theme.

Animal companions: If you have one please choose one that could theoretically be found in an ice age setting.

Elephant in the Room is in use.

All characters receive the following:
Spirit in Flesh: Eating a meal made from any living thing that died in the last 24 hours grants a bonus, the more exotic the thing the better the benefit and the longer it lasts.
Examples: A meal made of freshly gathered root vegetables will give +1 on fortitude saves for 8 hours.
A meal made from a vanquished white dragon will give permanent cold resistance, amount dependent on age of the dragon.
Benefits from different foods can stack as they are unnamed bonuses but repeated consumption of the same type will only refresh the clock not add additional bonuses.

The endurance feat.

Submission FormatName: While it's the ice age you dont have to name your character Ugg but probably also not gonna be named Fred.
Age: Adulthood is achieved at 2/3rds the normal time and all age categories are similarly reduced.
Race: The tribe chieftain is an orc but there are many races that make up your tribe, see above for available races.
Class/s: See above for available options.
Mythic path: This wont be active till after the first post so dont weave it into your background or rp samples.
Appearance: please remember nutrition wasnt at its peak at this time so you are likely to be on the shorter and lighter end of things though weight was likely to vary wildly dependent on season and the success of your Hunters and Gatherers.
Societal Role: Hunter or Gatherer. As the game progresses new roles such as wise man/woman, shaman, hunt leader, chieftain, etc. Etc. May open up. These roles have mechanical benefits.
Hunter: +1 attack and damage. +5' movement speed.
Gatherer: +2 fort saves, +1 perception and perception is always a class skill, +1 knowledge (nature) and it's always a class skill.
Background: One paragraph summation of your life up to this point.
RP sample: Tell me three stories that are the reason Chief Giantbreaker has taken notice of you.

Encounter with tribe of chaokineticist caligni for some darkness and see in darkness upgrade, some melee with kinetic whip.

Blue ice orb and blue ice seer, winter witch litch. Snow ice golem with the stats of a dire bear plus construct stats. Snow give bludgeoning resistance 5, goes away if hit with fire. Base golem has ice and electricity immunity and acid resistance with fire vulnerability. DR 10 slashing/piercing and after snow is gone bludgeoning deals double.

True ice Oracle gives warning of 5 blizzards each followed by a potential calamity with the final being the Many-That-Is-One. Boss fight from a being that consumes all of the spirit of things it eats and takes their form. Multi-stage boss fight of various creatures from a snow rabbit to a mammoth then a fight with a natural weapon fighting barbarian.
