The Lost Company: Session Zero

Hey everyone!

This is the first time I’ve done this for a PbP, but let’s try it out and see how it goes.

First, let’s discuss Lines and Veils a bit more detailed. You’ve all given your answers, and that’s fine. Just want to make sure that you know you can state anything different or in addition here (and as a private post so just the DM can see it).

I just want to reiterate a few things here, and the first post will be updated and I’ll let you know when it’s been updated.

Primary thing: the funnel is highly lethal. Characters will die. Doesn’t mean we don’t RP them well though! As this will be a unique experience that will serve to bond the survivors together in a way that is unique to most other games I think.

My intention is to run the funnel at level 0.

From level 1-5 we will do a PbP version of Microscope to get some background on what your characters did during that time.

Level 5-6 we will run the Castle Rend module from MCDM with stronghold and warfare rules.

Level 6-7 will be a separate module of your choosing.

Level 7-8 is MCDM Regent of Bedegar with kingdom and warfare rules.

Lvl 8-13/14 is Red Hand of Doom with all the additional rules we’ve learned so far.
Beyond? Who knows.

I’ll have a few house rules I’ll post about as well, but here is where you can ask questions and let me know what you want, what you don’t want, and so forth.

Question about Armor/Weapon Proficiency: if the PCs get weapons/armor from equipment, are they understood to be proficient with said gear?

Hey folks! Just wanted to confirm that we have each of your characters from a town. It doesn’t have to be in Rach’dinai either. We’ve got the elven Duchy of Que’mos’aut which borders Rach’dinai, primarily a wood-elf Duchy. Beyond that there are 2 other elven duchies heading eastward, significantly smaller, but all bordering The Barrens. I think one would be sea elves as it borders the water. Middle Duchy I’m uncertain about.

In the opposite direction, we’ve got Cy’denea, which is more of a human/dwarven/orcish republic. Lot of each culture present there, highly influenced by guilds and trade. Primary supplier of goods and resources to Rach’dinai.

To the north-west there is Chrysaug, a Nation of the Gaez-Ras (think Orc/Goliath/firbolg/wood-elf and half elf cultures mixing together).

Those are your neighbors and some of the influences.

Also, tone of this campaign isn’t full grim-dark… but it is a little more Dragon Age than it is Lord of the Rings, if you know what I mean.

Let me know once everyone has chosen a town, and let’s talk about it in the private threads. Obviously don’t want to spend too much time on it, but it’ll be relevant, ESPECIALLY if any of them are from Steyside.
