Good to see you back. Hope you feel okay.

EDIT: And yeah, consensus seemed to be that the sailors were to be tied up (assumedly for the purpose of evidence against Vark I suppose?) rather than letting them go.
Incidentally, they solve the problem Sticks pointed out in that you don't have enough men to move the ship back to the docks. 100 feet should be doable with even a small crew.

I'm assuming it would be a handle animal check to try and calm the solifugid down, but would there be any other penalties associated with it?

ugadawg: Handle Animal is a good solution. As a ranger you also have Wild Empathy (unless your archetype traded that away, but I don't think it did). It's like a Diplomacy check modified by your ranger level. I guess think 'Horse Whisperer' type actions of soothing and empathy and attempted communication (so to speak) rather than your typical animal tamer. But as I mentioned it's a -4 penalty (like a magical beast) as vermin like insectoids are considered mindless (no Int score) and so it would be a lot harder.

Not true, I could have just walked off and then you lot came and tied them up! They would still have been pretty groggy from my spell, and seeing Vark go down I doubt they would put up much of a fight.

I went the Handle Animal route. I figured a d20-1 was better than a d20-3 Not too bad of a result either.

Art school is fun, sure, but it's also basically equivalent to having no life for a couple of years. She's aiming for animation (video game/3D animation in particular).

Ooh, nice. I volunteered once for my friend's art project. She had to make a mould of my hand. I had to stand very very still for a long time until the mould set.
