Okay, I skipped the gym and I'm at my computer ready to write my background. It sounds like you guys have a pretty good idea of your setting. Is there any way I can access it? Do you have a writeup somewhere that I can draw from?

4d6 drop the lowest die. Roll 7 times, drop the lowest set. If you'd rather, I would allow point buy but this will almost certainly come out better. Just give it a try in your private thread and if it's terrible I'll let you do the point but.

I'm sorry guys. I think I'm going to have to bail. I don't have a background or a sheet or really a character concept at all. I've been really busy and I haven't even been able to follow the game either. It doesn't help that none of you bold your speech.

I'd really like to play in this game because I know that all of you are quality rpers and that is something that I have been missing lately. It's just not working out for me now. I will keep you in mind and maybe when things get sorted out for me I will see where you are at.

Understandable. The bold thing I can fix but I'm guessing that's just a minor issue. You always have a spot in the game.

For realz. I knew nothing of this "BOLD" feature but I like it a lot better.

It's hideous, and all true men should use bold for it's true meaning and purpose: emphasis!

There is also the [say] function, which automatically codes bold and quotes around text. I type out all of my bbcode by hand so for me it is muscle memory to type out [b]". I suppose it is actually the same number of keys pressed if you count the shift for quotes. The say function has a button on the posting window. It's the box with quotes to the far right of the toolbar next to the dice. There might be a shortkey for it, but I don't know the shortkeys.

Some people believe that bold speech enables people to skim posts and skip over all of the context or narrative text.. To an extent that is true. It is a lot slower to read a block of normal text when you are trying to pick out what someone said. I read all the posts, but it's during the rereading that I tend to skim back over for important bits and the bolded text helps break up the post into parts that are easier to manage, in my opinion.

Anyway, why am I posting here again? Good question.

Answer: I was stretched a little thin when you guys started this game. And not too long after the game started did an old friend of mine show up with a Cthulhu game. He offered me a spot so I had to write up a background. Then today I dropped one of my games because the other players are jerks and it wasn't any fun. And I shut down a long standing game that I had been coDMing with a friend of mine. It was long time to close it down. Over the course of two years we had gone through 21 players. That's got to be some kind of record. Anyway, several people dropped so we were facing another recruitment phase and I just don't have the energy to put into that game anymore. So that's done.

So that leaves me with just a few quality games and it opens up some time for me to come up with a character and jump into your game. I'm not exactly sure when I will have it done, but I will work on it and we'll see what happens.

I hope for sooner rather than later, but realistically we're not far... like at all, so I don't personally see any reason you wouldn't play when you get the chance.

Do it like me: wing it. Make a character in your head, match the chargen to it mostly, come up with a couple quirks and GO. Have fun.

Ok, so I think in the interest of progressing the game along I will now institute a policy of at least 1 post a day (no matter how small). If you cannot post, that is fine and I will either just ignore your character in my post or RP them to the best of my ability. I understand it being a little harder to post on the weekend so I will not enforce this rule on Friday and Saturday nights. If you guys strongly object to this then I can back off it but I think it would be in the best interest of the plot and action. Sound good?
