Ytterbium sent out a PM to all the players. Understandably, a few had to drop out. Life happens, I'm just sorry to have lost a couple players with awesome characters.

I'll be doctoring the post when everyone who's in confirms their presence and want to play by posting in the IC thread. Then we'll get to the action and start slappin' each other around.

Hey, 2nd Chance, can I ask if your lion form has both four paws and two hands? Could it? I have a keen interest in wemics and liontaurs, and I never thought of playing a synthesist as a sort-of wemic!

I ran through the thread and collected the unanswered questions. Paraphrasing, combining, or splitting for clarity. Some of these I think are patently obvious but were still asked so I'm including them.

• Are buffs with a duration of 'permanent' or '24 hours' active at the start of the battle?
• Are buffs with a duration of 'X hours' active at the start of the battle?
• Are there 'prep rounds' to activate shorter duration buffs before combat is initiated?
• Do we heal up between every battle?
• Are consumables restores between battles?
• Are the psionic analogue to scrolls and potions(power stones and tattoos) available under the same limitations?
• Are traits going to be allowed?
• This one I'm just gonna paste verbatim since Im not 100% certain what's being asked. JohnStone: "I have a question about perception...It was said that we start 600 ft apart and get a perception check "To notice a combatant" does this mean combat starts and we roll initiative, an arrow, or spell can reach 600 ft. "

Pardon me, I am new here and I do not want to be rude.

But is this game running slower than it should be? Isn't the first match supposed to have begun? Maybe it did in a private thread or something? But why is the DM ignoring this conversation and the questions posted above?

Given the way the DM fell off the map before ... and considering that he calls himself a "gentleman troll" ... what's the likelihood that this entire game is just one big trolling?

"Gentleman troll" is most likely a tag he chose because it went with his avatar, the same way I've got this whole science thing going with mine.

Game speeds vary wildly. Admittedly, this is moving slowly, but this game is not set up as something designed specifically to waste our time; the supermoderators would likely clamp down extremely hard on someone intentionally doing that, and for all the work we've put into it, ValudUserName has probably put in more. That said, oftensometimes games fail to even get off the ground, and maybe that'll be the case with this one. VUN likely had every intention of following through on it before life got in the way. I presume that's where he is again this week. I am in a game that went a round a month for three months because that was all the DM could handle at the time. It happens. Some people quit, others kept watching, and those of us who stayed are back at it again!

People also don't have to stick around. VUN will get to the questions and the first matches or he won't, and unfortunately, that's the nature of the site. The flip side is that if you don't want to wait, you don't have to! This probably isn't anything you haven't heard before, but it's still true, and it's still common.

I've been on this site since 2009, and I've known about the poor success of games for a while. Never knew that there were official statistics though. Life happens, and unfortunately it's very likely 90% of the games you join will die. I remember when I DM'd my first game, I was lucky enough to have 1 surviving original member when we finally finished. I had tried to do another game, but was so burnt out from the last one that it just ended up failing.

Hey, would it be against site etiquette if we ran the game without the DM? I'd be happy to make a map and run the first bout for Jak'kill versus Kara. The two players would post actions for each round in secret text to me, I would adjudicate the turns, give them each a secret text post back, and also write a summary for the round for the observers.

I assume that the people who are not participating would enjoy observing.

If at least one of the combatants is willing to run a fight, this could keep going.

That would give me a leg up on the combatants who would have to show me their sheets. But i would return the favor and let them see mine if we ever ended up in a bout.

I'm a DM with lots of PbP experience running games, just not on this site.
