Something about Valid not liking them because they're "new." They've been in Pathfinder for a while now, though, so I guess Valid's a 3.5e convert.

Was there ever any answer for how many preparation rounds we'd be getting for combat, if any? I'd imagine that a quite a few characters would like having a round to prepare. For those of us who like swinging around psionic foci, may we have it when combat begins?

Lastly, Cyril's character sheet is finished, but you don't get to see it. Poor you.

Ooh, the idea of not starting with psionic focus is scary. I've always assumed that it was something psionic characters took care of when they woke up every day...

Just like how a wizard starts the day with something like Mage Armour, no?

Any manifester worth his salt is going to have Psychic Meditation anyway, but it'd be nice to know before we start any matches. Psionic Focus is a big deal for psionic characters.

Eh, it's funny because my Strix's incompetence will still land him the ability to cry in draconic as he wooshes through your scary mind-beams. The round to prepare would be ideal for psions and perhaps even wizards, I'm sure the mundys can just strike up a tent.~

I was concerned slightly however I'm sure it won't remain. Our levels are not going to be increasing, are they?

I don't believe so.

On further contemplation, Cyril has a lot of things he could feasibly have active before the start of combat. He has a psionic focus, astral skin, mind armour, mind blade and mind shield.
These are all abilities with infinite durations, and ones that he'd likely handle at the start of the day. They are akin to fighters donning armour, alchemists preparing their mutagens, summoners calling their eidolons or Vancian spellcasters preparing their spells. What preparations can a character make before the start of a match, if any?

I think Valid said there was a hidden way for someone to gain a level somehow.

One of the best ways I saw preparation rounds handled was to have them determined randomly with a d3-1, giving a battle 0-2 prep rounds. I was playing a lawful stupid hill giant monk and just had him stare at the walls instead of do anything to actually prepare.

Yeah... after I glanced through the characters that everyone is putting out, I was really hoping that I would end up fighting some less scary people. VUN's archer should at least have a bit of trouble..

I think my monk will prepare by doing an odd ceremony with a flask and some fancy words, however if the walls are interesting enough.... I suppose he'd have to see what it's all a grout.
